Chapter forty eight: A secret plan

1013 Words
When Smith heard that his mother, the queen, called for him, he quickly left to see her. He was in an anticipation of what happened to her. Actually, this is the first time his mother would call him like so. When he received the news that his mother was calling him, the reporter told him that it was an urgent matter and he needs to see her quickly. What he had in his mind was maybe she was ill or something. He went into her room and saw that she was laying in her bed. "Mother, what happened to you, are you ill?" Smith asked. As soon as queen Pretta noticed that her son was already inside, she rose up from the bed and sat down, in hopes of talking with Smith. "Smith." The Queen called and he answered. He really didn't notice any shaky voice or croaky throat. It seems like she was doing perfectly well, but why exactly did she called for him. The queen cleared her throat before talking, and before she could say anything, she told Smith to close the door of the room. He did so but he was still wondering what the queen was trying to do. "There's something I want to discuss with you Smith." The queen said. "I'm all in ears mother, tell me everything." Smith answered. "I don't know if you have noticed this but, don't you think your father is hiding something from us?" She said. "My father? The king??" Smith asked surprisingly. "Shhhh! someone might hear you." The queen tried to caution Smith from shouting. "I'm sorry. But, what could father be hiding. I mean, something like what?" Smith asked, confused on what she meant. "Did you noticed that none of your elder brothers and sisters made it alive once they go for war." The queen said. "Yeah, the war was so hard on them and they lose to the other kingdoms." Smith replied. "Yes, that's true. None of the children of the king who ever steps out for war made it out alive. And you are the first child of the king to break that rule." The queen said. Smith's eye widened as he heard this. He actually didn't know what his mother had seen to have thought of that. She was right though and Smith was now curious to know more on what happened. "Mother, that seems strange. Could the king really be the one killing them?" Smith asked. "Noo, why are you thinking like that. Why would you call your father a killer." The queen said with her eyes furrowed with a little bit of anger. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking right." Smith replied. "Hmnfh!" Queen Pretta heaved a sigh of relief before she continue speaking. "I think your father is building another force outside the Sparrow Kingdom." she said. "Are you sure about that? Do you have proof that it's true??" Smith asked. "It's just a guess. I mean, actually, I have some things that could be used as evidence." The queen said. "What are the evidence?" Smith asked. "As I have said, it might be that the king had just made up a lie by saying that the Kingdom's army were outmatched by the other kingdoms, while otherwise, the princes and princesses that went out for war are all being taken into the secret kingdom that the king built purposely for some reasons." The queen assumed and smith was amazed. "But, what could be the reason why he built the secret kingdom?" Smith inquired. "I don't know the reason myself." The queen said and smith thought deeply on what to do next. "What do we do now? There's an upcoming war at front with some kingdoms but I don't know how to deal with this matter while also preparing to fight with the kingdoms." Smith said, confused on what to do next. He was the type that hates thinking so much about things, either with good result or bad result. He easily develops headache and to prevent himself from constantly having such, he would always avoid thinking so much about things. He would always say to himself, ' The little the thought, the quicker it gets solved.' That is his own believe and he's been able to practice what he believed by thinking less or none about things. "There's something we could still do." The Queen said, breaking the moment of silence between themselves. Smith was anxious to know what it is and the queen patiently discuss what it was all about to him. She had told him to not lead or join the troops of war and instead, he should follow after them to see where the secret kingdom is located. Luck might be on their side and the secret kingdom will be known to them. But, Smith was not with the idea. Would the king accept his absence in the army troop? He would need to convince the king before they could carry out any plan. Although the king love him most, there are still some things he wouldn't allow a seventeen year old boy to do at this early age, and part of it is the abstinence from the army troop. The king would definitely ask for a reason why he won't be among the armies and as it had been said, Smith really don't want to think of what reason he would say to king for his absence. But, the queen would had knew the kind of son she bore, quickly gave him suggestions on what to do. And that was when they came up with a secret plan. Smith would be acting a pretending role by informing everyone that he is sick and that will start by ordering the royal physicians and doctors to give a false diagnosis that Smith have a very Contagious disease that can only be cured if he's left alone and ensures that he takes in his drugs and medication daily. Smith thought that it was really a good idea and he's planning to take the next step.
