At this point Alec used his Master tone and bellowed "Enough!! Do not disrespect anyone under my roof! You say one more negative thing about anyone in this house and my men will deliver you and your truck in pieces. Do you understand?"
Everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at Alec. He had bent the spoon in his hand to a point where it was unusable, and his own people had never seen him this upset. They all looked at him in stunned silence.
The women serving the food looked at each other and smiled a little, but not saying anything. They went back to serving the food and drink and watching their unwanted guest.
Jameson looked down in apology, "I am sorry my lord, I let my anger get the better of me. It will not happen again.”
Beta Michael looked at Beta Jameson, "You might want to finish your food and not say anything else."
Alec looked at Michael, "I'm done eating, when you are finished please join me in my office."
Michael nodded and everyone stood up as Master Alpha Alec left abruptly. Once in the office, Alec punched a hole in the wall with an anguished low grunt.
Alec mind-linked Michael. Something is off about Beta Jameson. I don't know what it is but I don't trust it. Once he's done eating, have him escorted back to his room and guarded.
Michael responded, Yes sir. I will let you know what he says and does. I also think he is not to be trusted. Something is definitely off.
Michael went back to eating. Everyone finished quietly. As they were about to leave, Michael mind-linked the twins. Brandon and Benson. Master Alpha wants him watched. When you two go to Clan Blackwell, watch and listen carefully. They are not to be trusted. Tonight he is to be guarded and not allowed to wander. Michael headed off to the office to talk to Master Alpha Alec.
The twins surreptitiously nodded and stood as Master Jameson stood up and started toward a door that he thought would lead to the rest of the house. He was trying to see how many rooms and people, mostly warriors, were around. Benson stood in front of him. "We are to escort you to your room across the way. Just to make sure that you are safe."
Jameson sighed and walked across the yard to his room, followed by Benson. Once he was there, another guard stood outside his door and 1 more outside his window. Now was the time to call Master Nicholson to inform him about what little information he had.
After making sure that she was OK, Betty smiled warmly and showed her to a room in the main house. They walked through the long hallway and up a set of carpeted stairs, and at one of the rooms Betty stopped. "This will be your room my darling girl. Master Alpha Alec has this all arranged for you. I hope you like it" Betty said, with a little bit of a question.
Angeline looked around the room. It was the biggest room she had ever seen. It had a huge wooden dresser off to one side, next to double doors. As she walked into the room more she quickly realized that the double doors were a giant walk-in closet. In the middle of the room was a couch opposite a huge TV with a Blu-ray player and every movie that you could possibly imagine. Angeline kept looking around, taking in more. The ceiling was high and there were French doors that led to a balcony that overlooked the village and the woods below. Angeline was astonished by all that she saw. Clan Blackwell's rooms didn't look like that. Not even close. Clan Blackwell's rooms were tightly spaced, maybe a throw rug for some of the higher clan members, but nothing like this. This room was amazing and wonderful.
Angeline went exploring. This room would be equal to five or six of her clan member's bedrooms. Angeline was wondering if she was to take up the job that she had in Clan Blackwell, which was basically being a slave and cleaning and washing and being treated like garbage. Angeline sat on the side of the huge bed and began to cry. Betty came over and sat beside her. "What ever is the matter, my darling dear? Why are you crying?" Betty tucked some hair behind her ear and rubbed her back gently.
Angeline calmed down as she breathed in the scent of Betty. Definitely family. Only family can do this. Avery said in her mind. Tell her everything. Let her know. It will be OK.
Angeline nodded her head a little and took a deep breath. "My wolf, Avery, says I can trust you and that you are indeed family. So here it goes. Everything was fine and wonderful until three years ago. Clan Blackwell was attacked by rogues. My Mom was the Beta female warrior. She was the strongest and most well-trained. On the day that we were attacked, my mom and I went out for a walk. She was explaining to me what transitioning was and how it would happen; how my transformation would enhance my senses and I could possibly be stronger than her since I was the oldest of two Betas. She told me that one day I might have a lot of responsibility myself... Angeline paused as she thought back to that day. She was happy and her mom was so loving and caring and her smile could light up the room.
Angeline continued. "We heard the bell, and we began to run toward the village. It was chaos. Men were fighting the rogues and the women were gathering the old and the young to put into the protection room. My mom killed two rogues and then got three kids in her arms to put them into the room. I grabbed two more kids and followed her. Between the two of us, we got the kids and the elderly to safety. She told me to stay put."
Angeline had silent tears coming down her face. Betty was also silently crying as well. Betty grabbed Angeline's hand in a reassuring grip. "She went out to go fight and I got in the way. You see, on our walk Mom had told me that sometimes a young wolf will shift if danger is present. I was trying to help my clan and my Mom saw what was going on. I was about to be ambushed and she jumped in. She was killed in the process of protecting me. I was just trying to help and it got her killed. I saved a mother and a baby, but it doesn't matter, I still got her killed. After the dust settled and the clan was figuring out what happened, I got blamed for her death. I was taken to the attic and kicked out of school and became a pack slave. I was beaten, whipped, starved, ordered not to transition and kept away from my brother Leo. I was treated like crap right up until the day before I came here. I don't know what is expected of me here. I'm not sure if I am here to be a servant or a guest or a spy or turn into Master Alpha's w***e. All I know is that after the year is up, and I don't do whatever Alpha Nicholson wants, he's going to kill me. What's worse is my father, Beta Jameson, agreed to it."
Angeline started hiccupping as she sobbed. Betty got up and went into the bathroom and came back with a warm wet washcloth. "Ah child, dry your eyes. You saved a mother and a baby in what was chaos. Your mother sacrificed herself so that you three could live. My child, you were and are so brave. You didn't cause your mother's death. She just did what any mother would do, protect her child. Now you rest some, and we shall continue this conversation when you wake up. You have had a long day. Master Alpha Alec knows that Master Nicholson isn't what he appeared, so he's aware that something is up. Also, rest easy my darling girl, you will not die. That will not happen."
Angeline felt somewhat comforted by her grandmother's words. Angeline took off her shoes and sank into the softest, most comfortable bed she had been in. Betty covered her and brushed her hair off her face and then hesitantly kissed her forehead. "Thank you for being so brave, my child, and telling me what happened. Now sleep easy and rest well." Angeline was asleep by the time Betty reached the door to go tell Master Alpha Alec what all she had learned.
