Chapter 12: Scar!

1923 Words
When Jack heard the matron say he was Anita's boyfriend, his face indeed turned red. He wasn't able to withstand much teasing and joking. Though his blush was momentary, it was spotted by Mrs. Han. Seeing this, Anita laughed even more. "Alright, Mrs. Han, stop teasing my friend!" Anita said, picking up the menu, "Mrs. Han, as usual, three plates of meat skewers, one plate of iron plate squid, remember, no chili!". "I know, eating too much spicy food can cause acne!" Mrs. Han replied. After those words, she walked back into the kitchen. "Do you feel a sense of achievement?" Anita asked, chuckling. "What kind of achievement?" Jack was puzzled. "I rejected the invitation from that man to dine at his fancy restaurant and came to eat these little skewers with you. The fact that I, a beauty, lean more towards your side... doesn’t it give you a sense of achievement?" Anita explained with a smile. On further thought, Jack realized he indeed felt a sense of achievement from the comparison. "The squid is here!" After about five or six minutes, Mrs. Han called out, holding a platter with a plate of iron plate squid and placed it on the table. Anita immediately picked up a skewer, and while eating, asked, "Do you drink?" "I don’t!" Jack quickly replied. He did not smoke or drink - a model citizen. "I don't drink either!" Anita added. But she was also wondering, how innocent exactly was this man? "Um?" Jack was about to dig into his food when a few oddly dressed punks with dyed red and yellow hair walked into the restaurant. They were a group of about six or seven people. The leader was even cradling a flamboyantly-dressed, heavily made-up young woman in his arms. "Mrs. Han!" "Ah, here!" Seeing the gang of punks, Mrs. Han was taken aback. She quickly put on a smile and said, "You seem to be new here. Just let me know what you'd like to eat, I'll make sure you're well fed!" The lead punk didn't rush to order, instead, he looked around the restaurant. "What are you looking at!" Upon noticing someone looking at him, the punk immediately cursed them out. Soon his gaze landed on Jack and Anita's table. On setting sight on Anita, his eyes suddenly sparkled. A beauty! Her figure, aura, and looks were all far superior to the woman he currently held in his arms. Thinking this, the punk grinned, pushed the woman he was holding, and moments later, walked over to Anita. "My lady, how about joining us for a drink? I'm footing the bill today, guaranteed to make you comfortable. Isn't it more entertaining than dining with this kiddo? He can't satisfy you. Come hang with us, hahaha!" He finished his proposal with a laugh. Hearing this, Anita furrowed her brows. Meanwhile, Jack was instantly displeased and rather vexed. Was he small? A kiddo! Dare to call him a kiddo! Where was he small? Actually, he wasn't that small. He was nineteen, and looked his age. It's just that these punks casually addressed him as such, since he resembled a student. "I'm not interested!" Anita tightened her brows, continuing to eat and speak. "Oh, not interested?" The punk brought his ear closer. "I'm not interested in drinking with animals whose gender I can't even determine. If you were even half as handsome as him, I would've joined you!" Anita smirked, "Unfortunately, you fall short." She was complimenting Jack. Jack didn't realize when Anita's words started sounding so pleasant. "Screw you, unappreciative b***h!" The infuriated punk slammed the table, "You're drinking with us today, whether you like it or not! You're just a w***e, and you think you're some big shot!" Having said this, he extended his hand directly towards Anita. "Bam!" Before his hand even touched Anita, he felt a sharp pain on his face, and the next moment, his body involuntarily retreated a few steps backward. The person who struck was Jack. "What do you think you're doing?" Jack stood up and blocked Anita. The diners nearby were surprised to see this. A fight was breaking out. Who would dare stay in this restaurant? In the blink of an eye, everyone had fled. "Ah!" Mrs. Han screamed out loud. "Damn it!" The punk covered his slapped face, "Guys, get him for me. Today we'll teach this kid a lesson. Don't be scared, I'll deal with the consequences!" After that, he picked up a wine bottle from someone's table and was about to throw it at Jack. The other punks also rushed towards Jack. Jack furrowed his brows. Anita, on the other hand, showed zero worries. She had witnessed Jack dealing with skilled fighters like Guo Hao. Ten of these punks would only get Jack a little out of breath. How could these small time punks pose any threat to Jack? Indeed, Jack may look tender and naive, like an innocent young boy. But if anyone saw that as a weakness, it would be their tragedy. Jack watched a few people rushing towards him with the bottles. He didn't hold back anymore. He clenched his fist and punched one of them coming at him. The punch was fast, accurate, and relentless. How could that punk dodge it? The punch landed! Next moment, the punk felt his facial muscles crunch together, his body spun uncontrollably backwards, crashing into the table. He rolled a full seven to eight meters, crashing into a wall, and the whole body ached unbearably. His face was so swollen he could barely open his eyes. "What… what a strong punch!" A customer who had not managed to leave the restaurant yet was startled. A punch that could knock a man seven or eight meters back, how could it not be strong? That punch was enough to knock the man out and he couldn't get up again. Bang— Bang! About three to five minutes had passed. The restaurant wasn't rendered disarray. Aside from the first punch, Jack had been considerate and refrained from going all out, to not damage the restaurant. He just wanted the punks to remember the pain. So, they were still able to get up. Otherwise, the tables and chairs in the restaurant might have been smashed to bits. At present, the punks were lying on the floor in unbearable pain. Jack sighed slightly and turned around. "I'll kill you!" But the moment Jack turned around, the leading punk got up from the floor. Somehow, he had a dagger in his hand, which he aimed at Jack. "Jack, watch out!" Anita shouted in alarm, her mouth agape. Jack quickly turned around and dealt a swift kick to the punk's abdomen. Complete folly! "Whew..." Anita let out a sigh of relief. She was genuinely afraid that Jack might get hurt by the dagger. The punk writhed in pain. Gritting his teeth, he shot Jack a malicious look. Ignoring his pain, he got up, and at the door, warned, "Kid, I'll remember you!" The punks helped each other up and quickly left the place. They posed no threat to Jack. "Dinner today..." Anita pouted, looking irresistibly adorable. What was supposed to be a peaceful dinner was spoiled by those punks, ruining the mood completely. Houston was brightly lit at night, and the pedestrian traffic didn't decrease much. At the moment, on a regular street, two men were hanging out. One of them was dressed as a punk, occasionally whistling at passing beauties. At times, he even threw obscene comments at women. The punk was none other than the one who caused a ruckus at Qiu Yan Pavilion earlier in the day. The man next to him was the very Liu who had been there as well. "Scar, they're back!" Liu said. The punk named Scar put his hands in his pockets, whistling, and turned around. He saw a group of five or six punks with colorful dyed hair approaching. These were the ones who had had a hard time getting up after being beaten by Jack at the restaurant earlier. They were here now. "Boss!" "Boss!" "How did things go?" Scar glanced briefly, twisting his legs like he was doing a street dance. "Hey pretty, fancy a drink?" As he spoke, he didn't waste the opportunity to flirt with nearby beauties. "Just as the boss predicted, that soft-looking boy by Anita's side is an expert. Even if we hadn't disguised ourselves as punks today, we six might not be a match for him alone!" The punks whispered. A smirk played at Scar's mouth. "He's Lucy's personal bodyguard. If he was someone you guys could beat, that sharp-witted woman, Lucy, wouldn't have survived until now!" "He's Lucy's bodyguard?" Liu frowned and asked, "If he's Lucy's personal bodyguard, then why isn't he guarding Lucy at night?" "That's the genius of Lucy. She'll show you a weak point, but you absolutely wouldn't dare to make a move!" Scar popped a piece of bubble gum into his mouth. People often think that an expert wouldn't show any weak points. But does that mean those who show weak points are definitely not experts? "So we must strike from Anita's side then. What if I sent someone to kill Anita tonight?" As Liu said this, he licked his lips. "Kill Anita?" Scar glanced briefly at Liu. "You think you can easily assassinate the person closest to Lucy? Anita's familiar with all the operations at Qiu Yan Pavilion. She's worked under Lucy for a long time without making a single mistake. She manages all of Lucy's business processes and might be assisting Lucy in managing her vast estate in the future. Do you know how many people want to kill her and have succeeded?" "What do you mean?" Liu didn't quite understand. Scar chewed on his gum, not saying a word. He didn't answer Liu's question, and no one dared to utter a word either. "That kid is not simple either. His master is a big figure. It's not easy to deal with a disciple taught by such a person. If we want to bypass him and kill Lucy, we need to bring in some experts. Luckily, Black Blade is about to land. This kind of expert should be dealt with by Black Blade!" Scar revealed a dazzling row of teeth in the darkness as he smirked. "I see, you have a plan to kill Lucy?" Liu asked. "Yes, but it's not guaranteed!" Scar said, whistling. "Not guaranteed?" Liu was puzzled. Scar chuckled, "Who would dare to say they're sure when playing mind games with that kind of woman? So far, has there been one man in Houston who's pursued her, schemed against her, or tried to kill her that has gained any advantages? I really wonder if this woman has any feelings at all!" Liu didn't say anything. Scar didn't seem to mind. "Tomorrow, you don't need to go find Anita again!" "Why? To understand Lucy, I must understand Anita. That's the task given to me from above. I'm quite confident in my ability to charm women!" Liu sneered. "No particular reason. If I'm not mistaken, Anita has already noticed your odd behaviors today!" Scar said with a slight smile. "She noticed me? Impossible. And, knowing that she'd notice me, why did you still let me go to Qiu Yan Pavilion?" Liu questioned, frowning. Scar merely flashed a cold smile. "Ah, that's exactly where the contest with Lucy started!" "In any case, you'll have to follow my orders for a while!"
