Chapter 11: Dominating The Chess!

2056 Words
A woman's foot is a crucial feature. A pair of beautiful feet is a rarity. Unfortunately, Jack wasn’t blessed to appreciate this beauty. This was a tragedy. As soon as she entered the company, Anita's demeanor had changed drastically from before. Even though she was as lively and cheerful as before, the moment she started working she seemed to become much more serious. "Anita!" "Anita!" While on their way to the second floor of the Qiu Yan Tower, many of the staff who were at work greeted Anita. “Little Jack!" At that moment, a playful feminine voice called out. The word "little" immediately annoyed Jack. How many times had he asked... When calling his name, could they not add the 'little' before his name? Did he seem small? How can they hurt a man's self-esteem like that? It's too much. Jack turned to face the woman who had called him 'little Jack', and it was the woman who had welcomed him into the bodyguard assessment the previous day. At the moment, this uniformed beauty was grinning at him and waving. "This..." Jack said listlessly: "Can you not add the ’little' before my name when you call me?" "You're the youngest person in the company now, why can't we call you 'little'?" Anita blinked, laughing. The women nearby all broke into laughter. "Alright then!" Jack rubbed his nose. “Assistant Wang!” Just then, a middle-aged man appeared in front of Jack and Anita. "General Manager Liu, hello!” Anita smiled at the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man grinned back, but his gaze when looking at Anita was quite different. He laughed and said: “I came to the Qiu Yan Tower today not for business, but I wanted to ask if Miss Anita has time tonight. I'd like to invite Assistant Wang to dinner! Thirteen Square Hotel!" The Thirteen Square Hotel was a high-end venue. Many women dreamed of stepping into such a place. Spending there would certainly satisfy their vanity. Even though Anita had a decent salary, she would never choose to spend it at such an expensive place. This middle-aged man was rather thoughtful. For a regular woman, she might actually hesitate because what could possibly happen with just a meal? “I'm really sorry!” Anita still kept her calm smile, “I go home on time every night, so I'm afraid it might be inconvenient!” “Oh, that's really a pity! I heard that Assistant Wang goes home on time every day.” The middle-aged man grinned, “Then, I won’t bother you anymore with this matter!" With that said, he headed towards the exit of the Qiu Yan Tower. However — As he turned around, the middle-aged man stealthily took a look at Jack. "Hmm?" Jack felt someone looking at him and abruptly turned his head. The middle-aged man was startled, then smiled at Jack before leaving. "What a remarkable reaction!" The middle-aged man took a deep breath and frowned, "That Lucy, she's not a woman that a man can sway easily. Her mind runs like a machine, there's no denying that. Didn't expect her assistant to be as cautious as her. It seems our boss is right about Anita always going home on time, she's unlike those other women who show their true colors at night. It's hard to make a move on a woman who keeps herself clean." "But, a clean woman is a challenge in itself!" "Seems like I have to think of some strategies!" Inside the elevator to the second floor of Qiu Yan Tower. "That man is suspicious," Anita remarked. "Suspicious?" Jack furrowed his brow. Anita remained silent, and the elevator doors opened. She and Jack entered the second floor of the Qiu Yan Tower together. "Wait on the couch, Miss Lucy doesn't need anything today," Anita said with a smile, choosing not to mention the incident earlier. "Okay," Jack agreed, and promptly parked himself on a nearby sofa. Anita went into Lucy's office. After about ten minutes, she exited the room with a document in her hand. It was a University admission letter. Anita sat on the couch across from Jack. Her sexy legs crossed over one another, "This is your admission letter. Tomorrow take this admission letter to Houston University to report. I will drive you there. After you report, you don’t need to come to work, just start attending classes!" Jack nodded, "After reporting, I go straight to class? What department and major am I reporting to? Is it the same as Miss?" "No!" Anita ran a hand through her hair, "You will be studying and reporting to the Department of National studies, which isn’t too different from what the Miss learned!" "National Studies?" Jack was confused, "When did universities start offering such a specialty?" Although he'd never been to a university, he understood certain things. He wondered out loud, "Did universities offer such a degree?" "A few years ago, there was definitely no National Studies department, by principle, there wouldn’t be a department teaching national studies, but the dean of Houston University is a devotee of national studies. Despite the uproar, he insisted on introducing National Studies, claiming it to be an ancient culture of Huaxia country, so why not establish this department? Initially, the dean wanted to open up an entire college, but after failing to do so, he settled for this unusual department!" Anita explained with a hint of amusement. "What about Miss?" Jack asked, puzzled. What would Lucy do when he starts classes? "Miss will start attending classes after military training. Your mission is to familiarize yourself with Houston University. You do not need to know every detail about the university but you must ensure that you can adequately protect Miss in case of danger! I think 15 days of military training should be sufficient," Anita winked. "Do I need to do military training?" Jack asked, confused. "No need!" Anita shook her head, "The Department of National Studies has never required military training, that’s a rule set by the dean of Houston University." "In detail, I will tell you tomorrow. Do you play chess?" Anita asked, her chin resting on her hand as she looked at Jack. "What kind of chess?" Jack inquired. "Go!" Anita chuckled, "I like playing Go. I didn't have anyone to play with me when I was at the firm before, but now you will accompany me!" "Hold on!" Jack glanced at Lucy's office, "If we do this, and Miss catches us, will our wages get deducted?" He had been frightened by the deductions before. Anita was greatly amused by Jack's remark. Bursting in laughter, she said, "Is the young miss so scary? Don't worry, she usually lets the staff do whatever they want, as long as you don't neglect your work. Even if you stay home every day, she will still hire you!” "Okay!" Jack nodded, but his heart was still filled with apprehension. "What are you still worried about? At worst, I’ll make up for your deducted wages!" Anita took out a chess box and placed it on the table. "I’m not good at chess!" confessed Jack. However, Anita had already set up the chessboard. "Don't worry, I'll let you have an advantage!" Jack cast a glance at Anita, then at the Go chess box. This Go chess box was quite old and seemed to have a history. "I want to play black!" Anita declared and put a piece on the chessboard directly. As usual, this woman liked the color black. Jack looked at Anita and found her extremely serious. Anita was a very mature woman with charms that ordinary women lacked. In fact, Anita was not old and was at the youngest time for a woman. Compared to her — Jack was simply too young. Soon, both of them started to play chess. "Why are you so dumb, block this part!" "Oh my goodness, if I block this part, can I still win?" "I've let you off six times, don't you know?" In a short while, Anita started shouting. Her voice was tender, with admonishment. Jack looked on with a black face. He had already said that he didn't know how to play chess. Anita was the one who insisted on dragging him to play. And she even said that she would take it easy on him. But where was she easy on him? It was clear that she cornered him. This was a tragedy! He was not unaware that Anita had given him six opportunities. But — He pretended not to notice. Because it would be embarrassing if he still lost even after knowing that someone had given him six opportunities. How smart he was. "You lost again!" Anita rolled her eyes. Although there was blame in her words, Anita's voice remained soft. Even when she called him ‘stupid’, her words were so soft and sweet that one couldn't feel any blame from her. Jack took a deep breath. He found out — While playing chess with Anita, he couldn't concentrate. Beside a man sat a woman with such a seductive body. Though her front was covered by clothing, the prominent curves still set one's mind racing. Could he sit still and focus on chess? It was a temptation, a stark temptation. After a while— "Can't you be a little clever?" Anita said helplessly. Just like that, they played chess for a day. Until it was time to leave work. Jack, as one could say, had been mistreated all day. Even when it was time to go home, Jack was still sapped of energy. It was too much. What was this? It was just plain bullying. Jack was like a disgruntled housewife. If he didn't think of himself as a strong and energetic man, he would definitely pout and have a verbal fight with Anita. This wasn't okay. She said she would go easy on him. But where was it? They had been playing for a day, and he had been annihilated all day! She had enjoyed... What about him? Did she ever consider others' feelings? "Are you upset?" In the elevator, Anita noticed Jack's upset look and chuckled. "No!" Jack shook his head. "Really?" Anita asked interestedly. "Really!" Jack retorted, visibly upset, "I'm not angry, but you're too much of a bully!" Anita laughed even more and said, “Alright, alright, to make up for it, I'll treat you to a meal today!” "Really?" Jack's face changed faster than a flipping book. "Really!" Anita gave a soft smile. "Okay!" Jack grinned his agreement. He wasn’t angry, just a little frustrated from being mistreated. At closing time, many staff members started to leave. And Anita took Jack to a restaurant. The restaurant was nothing big, just an ordinary place by the side of a Houston road. There weren't many customers inside. The plump matron of the restaurant was sitting in a chair, with an air conditioner blowing at her. The matron chatted animatedly with the customers at the table. At this moment, Anita brought Jack into the restaurant. "Anita!" The matron smiled, her chubby face bobbing, "Anita, it's been a while since you've been here, eh? Unusual, unusual. You’ve been eating here for over three years, but this is the first time you’ve brought a boy! "He must be your boyfriend!” “Mrs. Han, stop teasing!" Anita replied with a chuckle. “Yo, yo, yo, Anita,” Mrs.Han advised, "You should find yourself a boyfriend too. I tell you, you set the bar too high! “High standards?” Anita didn’t respond. Her standards weren’t actually high. But— Finding a man she liked wasn't easy. It wasn’t that her demands were high, but too few men gave her a sense of security in this society. Perhaps, her standards were indeed somewhat high. As a result, although she was attractive and never lacked suitors, she remained single. Like the saying goes, Some women say that there are no good men left in this world. That’s because good men will never automatically come into your view. If you don’t actively search, how are you going to find them? Complaining about others will only expose your own weakness and folly. “Look, look at this young lad. His face is all red!”Mrs.Han laughed heartily.
