팔관왕 (8) “Aren’t you a bit unfair, Your Highness?” Prince Yi Eul pinched the bridge of his nose as he leaned his back on the exit's door. “Why I felt so guilty? I shouldn’t because I didn’t do anything wrong right? But why…” “If you hate my profession—or hate me that much, then why did you hire me as your assistant?” Prince Yi Eul clicked his tongue “Damn, this is so frustrating.” The Crown Prince walked back to their table and noticed that it was empty. There's no trace of Kim Jae Kyung aside from the empty dirty plate that she used earlier. Prince Yi Eul walked out of the restaurant and saw his bodyguards waiting for him. “Sir, your overcoat?” Do Wan asked when he noticed that the Crown Prince didn’t have the overcoat with him. Ah, right, I gave it to Da Hyun. The reason why Prince Yi Eul went to Incheon is because of Da Hyun. Da Hyun was actually filming in Incheon for a music video and they both thought this is the time that they'll talk so they agreed to meet. But he didn't expect Jae Kyung will see that. “I… forgot,” Prince Yi Eul responded. Do Wan nodded as one of the bodyguards gave him a spare black overcoat from Armani and put it on the Prince's shoulder. “Where is Assistant Kim?” Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but ask. Do Wan blinked in confusion as he spoke. “You didn’t know, Your Highness? Miss Kim went home first. I even asked her to drive her home but she refused and just took a taxi to reach the Incheon Bus stop.” “What?! You let her?!” the sudden annoyance is visible to the Crown Prince's voice. “She… she said you already gave her your permission, Your Highness.” Ugh, the audacity of that girl, always defying me. Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but squeeze his eyes close. “…And she said she didn’t want to bother you since you're in a middle of a phone call, Your Highness.” Prince Yi Eul opened his eyes and looked at his bodyguard. Confused, he asked. “Phone call?” “Yes, Your Highness,” Do Wan responded. “We’ve been looking for you earlier since Miss Kim said that you took so much time in the restroom so she thought there's something wrong going on so we searched for you. She found you having a phone call on the exit so she told us that we shouldn’t be worried and told us to go back to our posts.” The Crown Prince was speechless after hearing what happened earlier. He didn’t feel guilty, not until tonight. The Crown Prince was surprised when he saw Jae Kyung sitting in the living room and talking to the Crown Prince's Royal Secretary. He was really expecting that Jae Kyung will not come because of what happened yesterday but to his relief, she’s here, in his house. He didn’t want to admit it but he's slightly happy about it. His secretary and Jae Kyung noticed his presence so the two stood up and bowed at him. “Good morning, seja-jeonha.” “Good morning,” Prince Yi Eul nodded in response. “I'd like to discuss something regarding your dinner with the Princess.” Prince Yi Eul kept his stare to Jae Kyung but Jae Kyung just kept her attention to the tablet she's holding which made the Crown Prince creased his brows in annoyance. “I should take my leave first, Secretary Jeong, Your Highness,” Jae Kyung said as she bowed and left. Prince Yi Eul actually finds it offensive because she left like that, she left in the Crown Prince’s presence but for some reason, he couldn’t get mad at her. He felt guilty, in all honesty. The Crown Prince managed to talk to his secretary but he couldn’t take his mind off about Jae Kyung because the woman just gave him a cold shoulder so he excused himself to go to the restroom but ended up searching for Jae Kyung. Jae Kyung was actually nervous, worried even. After what happened last night she's worried about the Crown Prince's reaction and thought that she'll be going to get punished because she gave him the audacity of an attitude last night. Though, she shouldn’t feel guilty about what she said last night since she's the one who got offended and judged by the Crown Prince himself. It's a human instinct to protect yourself if people judge, insult, or offend you on the things you didn’t do, and that's what Jae Kyung did. But since she's a decent human being, of course, she's worried about what Prince Yi Eul thought about her. She couldn’t help but sigh as she stared at the apple in front of her. She's sitting on the kitchen stool and just spent her time in the kitchen which, thankfully, the royal maids let her. The maids were really friendly so it's not hard for her to communicate with them. But since they're all busy, she was left alone in the kitchen. “There you are.” Jae Kyung felt her heart went out of her chest and she almost fell on her seat when she heard Prince Yi Eul. She looked at the Crown Prince in wide eyes as she hugged the tablet she's holding. “Knock, will you?!” She gasped when she realized that she spoke informally to the Crown Prince and she waited for the Crown Prince's clapback. But to her surprise, Prince Yi Eul just tilted his head and knocked on the door. “Can I come in, agassi?” Agassi? Did he just call me Agassi? He's giving me so much goosebumps. It's really weird. “This is your house, Your Highness. Why are you asking for my permission?” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but asked, her voice falling on the usual tone she's using. She peeked at Prince Yi Eul's reaction and she noticed that the Crown Prince just stared at her silently. She blinked her eyes, averted her gaze, and swallow her saliva to ease her nervousness. She was about to speak when Prince Yi Eul spoke. “I actually thought that… you'll not gonna appear here for work but here you are,” said Prince Yi Eul. Jae Kyung shrugged and kept on scrolling on the word document on the tablet even if it's empty. “I wish I could but you see, I'm no longer a journalist. I'm working for you now. I need to pay my rent so I have to wake up early and work, Your Highness.” There's a pregnant silence between them. Jae Kyung is still nervous to talk so she didn’t know how to break it so she just kept on fidgeting on the tablet she's holding. “I'm sorry.” Jae Kyung raised her head to Prince Yi Eul, totally shocked about what the Crown Prince said to her. Did he just… what? “I’m sorry about what happened last night. I'm sorry about everything I've said. I shouldn’t have doubted you since I hired you as my assistant,” Prince Yi Eul said as he slightly averted his gaze from Jae Kyung. Did he just apologize? To me? Jinjja??? Seolma! “Eh?” Jae Kyung stared at the Crown Prince dumbly because who would really think that the Crown Prince will apologize to her like that, right? “Uh, i-it's okay, Your Highness. I-I understand—” “But don’t expect that you'll not be going to get punished about the informal speech you kept on using at me, you got that? You-You should cook for me! That's your punishment! F-Faster, I'm starving!” flustered, Prince Yi Eul went out of the kitchen. The royal maids who just went back to the kitchen actually saw Prince Yi Eul stormed out of the kitchen so she looked at Jae Kyung. “His Highness went here? Is he hungry already? But we already set the food on the table.” “What was that…” Jae Kyung's eyes followed the Crown Prince until she couldn’t see him anymore. Her frown slowly vanished on her head and she let go a giggle. That arrogant prince. Still arrogant as ever.
