Dealing Prince Arrogant
Chapter 3
Ji Hye actually thought that she’ll just go to work as merely as the crown prince’s assistant like reading his schedules for him, make coffee for him or just suggest what the prince is going to wear. Or so, she thought…
Jae Kyung almost slammed the mop on the floor and groaned. She’s been cleaning the Crown Prince’s room for three hours already and the Prince is having the best day of his life—sitting handsomely—well, scratch the ‘handsome’ part and just enjoying his afternoon almost evening tea while reading five newspapers already.
“I could hear you~” Prince Yi Eul slightly raised the pitch of his voice for Jae Kyung to hear. “I could hear you almost breaking the mop up.”
Jae Kyung stopped moping and glared at Prince Yi Eul. “Hey, I work for you as your personal assistant. PERSONAL ASSISTANT, not your maid.”
The Crown Prince put the newspaper down and stared at his assistant, quirking his brows up as if he’s so amused hearing it from her. “And I don’t see the difference.”
Jae Kyung gasped. The audacity! “What the—”
She was about to speak when she heard Prince Yi Eul’s phone ringing. She saw the sudden change of the Crown Prince's expression as he hurriedly stood up.
Jae Kyung frowned. What the heck is wrong with him?
“Jae Kyung, what’s my schedule today?”
“Eh? Your schedule?” Jae Kyung put the mop she’s using in the corner and took the tablet the Crown Prince gave to her. “Err… you don’t have any schedule today. You postponed it all. Don’t you remember?”
“I did?”
Jae Kyung stared at him. Is he stupid or what? “Uh, yeah?”
She heard him mumbling but didn’t reach her ear. As she tried to eavesdrop, the Crown Prince is now looking at her. “I want to eat outside.”
“You want to eat where?”
“There’s a fancy restaurant in Incheon, right? I want to go there.”
“What restaurant are you talking about, seja-jeonha?” Jae Kyung asked.
Prince Yi Eul took a peek at his phone before responding to Jae Kyung. “Grand Café.”
Jae Kyung kept frowning as she stared at the Crown Prince. “In Grand Hyatt Incheon? But the drive there is—” Prince Yi Eul is not listening to her anymore since he’s now talking to his Royal Secretary.
“Mr. Jeong, please reserve the whole Grand Café restaurant for me. I’m going to eat there.”
“So, we traveled from Seoul to Incheon for forty minutes… for you to eat sushi?”
The Crown Prince looked at his personal assistant. “Yeah, what about it?”
“And you reserved the whole restaurant… for you to eat sushi?”
“Yep. And you should be grateful that I let you eat with me.”
Jae Kyung took a deep breath. “I know you’re crazy rich and all but… are you freaking serious?!”
Prince Yi Eul flinched, eyes wide as he stared at Jae Kyung who’s now actually trying not to throw a fit. “What is wrong with you? How dare you raise your voice on the Royal Highness’ presence?!”
Jae Kyung scoffed and spoke. “Jeonha, gaebbul. There are so many fancy restaurants in Seoul that could offer you sushi because we have so many Japanese restaurants there. Aren’t you aware of that?”
“I am,” Prince Yi Eul nodded. “But you see, you’re talking to the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince Yi Eul. Seoul is too crowded for me. I can’t eat peacefully there because there are always paparazzi around. You’re aware of that, right? Since you’re a paparazzi yourself.”
Jae Kyung cleared her throat and responded. “I beg your pardon, seja-jeonha, but I’m a journalist. I’m not a paparazzi.”
“You’re both the same, though,” Prince Yi Eul muttered and sipped his wine.
Jae Kyung was annoyed at how Prince Yi Eul sees her but she’s too tired and hungry to argue. “Yeah right, whatever floats on your boat, Your Highness. I’ll just gonna enjoy the food.”
Prince Yi Eul felt his phone vibrating in his coat. He silently finished eating the sushi he’s holding and silently sipped his wine before wiping his lips clean with the table napkin and stood up.
“Eh? Where are you going, Your Highness?” Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but cringe at Jae Kyung who’s now asking him while her mouth is full.
This girl has no table manners. The f**k.
“Restroom. You better stay here and don’t do anything stupid,” after saying such, Prince Yi Eul left him.
“What? Do stupid?” Jae Kyung scoffed as she put the whole sushi on her mouth, I’m not like you!” her eyes settled on the tasty beefsteak and other delicious food in front of her. “Hmm. I’ll just gonna enjoy eating this delicious food and satisfy myself than worrying about the Prince. Prsh, he’s not a kid anymore though.”
Minutes had past and Prince Yi Eul didn’t come back. Jae Kyung, for an unknown reason, started to worry about her boss. Recalling about the attempt assassination of the Crown Prince, she went to the boys’ restroom.
“Seja-jeonha? Seja-jeonha, are you there?” she didn’t receive any response so she slowly opened the restroom and there’s no one there, not a single soul. She panicked and fished her phone out to call one of the guards with them and went on searching for the Crown Prince alone.
She went out of the restaurant using the staff exit, lit up her phone’s flashlight, and looked around only to see Prince Yi Eul on the darker side of the restaurant’s corner with a girl.
She knew that girl too well.
It was Dahyun.
And they’re hugging each other.
She gulped. She didn’t know why but she felt that something’s clenching inside of her.
“Seja-jeonha?”
Jae Kyung gasped when she heard the voices of Prince Yi Eul’s bodyguards approaching the exit so she hurriedly went to them.
“Oh, Jae Kyung-ssi!” one of the bodyguards greeted her. She remembered the guy. It was Do Won. He’s at the same age as Yi Eul and already guarding Yi Eul for a long time. “Did you saw Prince Yi Eul?”
“We haven’t seen him in the restroom as well,” one of the bodyguards said.
“O-Oh, yes! Yes, I saw him!” Jae Kyung responded, trying to calm herself down.
The bodyguards looked at the open exit door. Do Wan is the one who actually stared at the door for so long. “He’s outside?”
He was about to approach the door but Jae Kyung stopped him. “He’s okay! He’s okay! Don’t worry about him. He was… he was just answering a call! Right! The coverage here is weak so he went out to answer the call properly. We should not interrupt him since it’s really private. Let’s go? Let’s go?”
Do Wan and the other bodyguards stared at her for a moment that she actually felt cold sweat but the men nodded at her as a response, convinced. “Okay. We’ll just go and wait outside.”
“Okay, thank you,” Jae Kyung bowed and smiled at them. Do Wan gave her a last glance before he went out with the others. She actually remembered one of the bodyguards that looked like a foreigner—it was Peter.
When the guards finally went back to their posts outside the restaurant, Jae Kyung sighed in relief. As she was about to close the door, it suddenly opened and saw Prince Yi Eul went inside. They both flinched at each other’s presence.
“Se-Seja-jeonha…”
Prince Yi Eul’s eyes settled on Jae Kyung face before it went down to her camera. Jae Kyung gasped when she forgot to turn off the flashlight so she hurriedly tapped it. Just as she turned it off, Prince Yi Eul snatched it away from her, harshly.
“What the—?”
“Haven’t you learned your lesson?”
“What are you talking about? Give me back my phone!” Jae Kyung was about to snatch her phone but Prince Yi Eul suddenly slammed it on the ground, totally breaking it to pieces.
Jae Kyung was shocked by what the Crown Prince did but anger rushed through her system that she pushed him harshly. “What is your problem?!”
“How dare you pushing me like that?! I’m a Prince!”
“I don’t care if you’re a f*****g prince! You have no right to break my phone!”
“And you have no right to meddle in my private life and take pictures!”
They both panted and went to silence. When Jae Kyung realized what and why he did that, she spoke. “What the heck, is that what you’re thinking? Your private conversation with her? Wait, Your Highness, we have a misunderstanding—”
“That’s why I hate journalists so much,” Prince Yi Eul glared at her. “You’ll do everything for money, even if you destroy someone’s privacy and life.”
From frown and confusion, Jae Kyung’s face fell to blank. “Aren’t you a bit unfair, Your Highness? I am your assistant. It’s my duty to protect you as well. I may be your employee but you don’t have the right to insult and judge me like that. You may be the Crown Prince but you’re still a human, we both are. If you hate my profession—or hate me that much, then why did you hire me as your assistant?”
The Crown Prince fell silent. Jae Kyung couldn’t help but scoff and smile at him bitterly. “I should have known.”
And with that, Jae Kyung left the restaurant.
And for the reason she’s not aware of, her tears rolled down from her eyes as she took a bus to go home.
