마흔 번째 왕관 (40)
It’s totally pissing her off.
She didn’t know what’s wrong or what happened.
It’s been five days since that incident happened. Jae Kyung should feel relief since the Crown Prince is not bugging her off nor teasing her. But no s**t Sherlock, there’s really something wrong with His Royal Highness, especially that she’s around.
Just like now.
Jae Kyung heard a knock on the guest room where she’s in, actually changing her clothes (which is hanbok) to her casual once. After she fixed her hair, she walked towards the door and opened it. She saw one of the queen’s royal servants bowing at her. She, then, gave something to Jae Kyung. “Hello, Agassi. His Highness told me to give this to you.”
Jae Kyung accepted it and albeit she’s confused, she managed to open the brown envelope. “That’s your, schedule and appointments to attend before the wedding and he also instructed us to escort you to the pavilion for your snack.”
“Uh, thank you…” Jae Kyung muttered then she asked the servant. “Is His Royal Highness still in the pavilion?”
“His Highness was there a while ago, Agassi. But after he took some tea and snacks, he left.”
“I told him to have tea with me later and he agreed. But why is he ditching me right now?” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but frown. She, then, sighed and nodded to the servant. “Thank you so much. I’ll be there in a second.”
“Very well, Agassi.”
Jae Kyung fell silent after that. Her brows creased as she tried to analyze why the Crown Prince is acting weird these past few days.
Seriously, what the heck is happening to him?
Just like now as well.
Jae Kyung wouldn’t deny that she likes the silence in the backseat because every time she’s riding the backseat with Prince Yi Eul, there’s no time that he’s not going to tease or annoy or pick a fight with her until he’ll get on her nerves. That’s how annoying he is.
But now, the backseat is just awfully silent and they could only hear the car’s engine.
“Secretary Jeong, my schedule,” Prince Yi Eul finally broke the awkward silence inside the car.
“Oh! I know your schedule, Your Highness. It’s here in my tablet—which you owned by the way—hehehe,” Jae Kyung said, trying to break the awkwardness between them.
“Secretary Jeong, my schedule,” Prince Yi Eul didn’t spare her a look instead his eyes were on Secretary Jeong who’s now reading his schedules on his tablet as well.
Jae Kyung fell silent after that. Felt slightly embarrassed as she tried talking to Prince Yi Eul but failed. Her brows creased as she tried to analyze why the Crown Prince is acting weird right now.
She’s feeling annoyed at this moment.
Since she’s currently staying in the Crown Prince’s house, she decided that she’ll make yakgwa cookies, songpyeon (pine rice cakes), and gyeongdan (Korean sweet rice balls) at dinner for everyone, especially for the Crown Prince before going home since Secretary Jeong insisted that she’ll have her dinner before going home.
“Can you put this on the dining table?” Jae Kyung asked one of the servants who were helping her to prepare. “We’ll be going to eat these all after dinner. You know, dessert? Hahahaha.”
The servants find Jae Kyung’s giggles contagious that they couldn’t help but giggle as well.
“Yes, Agassi,” they took the songpyeon and gyeongdan to the dining table. Jae Kyung was the last one to leave the kitchen since she personally saved the yakgwa cookies for last.
As soon as she left the kitchen, she met Prince Yi Eul on the way. She couldn’t help but smile because this is the first time after five days and the whole day that Prince Yi Eul looked at her.
“Jeonha—“ as soon as she called him, he turned his back and walked back to his path.
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but felt so much annoyed right now.
“I knew it, she straight up ignoring and avoiding me!”
“Agassi, is there something wrong?” one of the servants asked.
Jae Kyung turned her head towards the servant and immediately gave the plate of yakgwa cookies to her. “Please take this to the dining table for me. I have something to take care of.”
As soon as the servant accepted the plate, Jae Kyung hastily followed the Crown Prince.
Prince Yi Eul silently walked on his mansion’s lobby back to his room. He was hungry, he’ll going to admit it but he just… badly wants peace of mind right now so he decided to go back to his room.
I’ll just order Secretary Jeong to send some servants to serve my dinner in my room.
He was about to turn to the right-wing when, suddenly, someone grabbed him to the left-wing.
“What the—?” he flinched when he saw the angry face of Jae Kyung who’s now pinning him on the wall.
Yes, a woman is pinning him on the wall.
And that woman is Kim Jae Kyung.
“What the f**k?! What are you doing?! Get out of my way, will ya?!” he exclaimed, full of authority.
“Oh, so now you’ve finally felt my presence and you’re looking at me now, huh?” Jae Kyung asked.
That made Prince Yi Eul fell silent. It actually took him a couple of seconds to respond. “What the heck are you talking about and how dare you doing this in a noble’s presence?!”
“Stop acting like you don’t know what I mean, Your Highness!” Jae Kyung snapped. “Do you really think I won’t notice that you’re actually ignoring the s**t out of me?! I tried my best to communicate with you for five freaking days but you always brushing me off and avoiding me and I have no freaking idea what the heck did I do wrong and what the heck is happening! I know you goddamn hate my presence but if you really felt that, stop treating me like an i***t and stop doing things that will make me assume! I really thought we’re already goddamn close that time and you’re just doing this to me! I may be your employee but stop making me feel like a worthless employee of yours!”
Both Prince Yi Eul and Jae Kyung fell into total silence after she said those things. It seems like the Crown Prince will not going to give her some response so she just sighed and leaned away from him. “Naega han mareun singyong sseuji ma. I know you’re already hungry but because I’m still here so you decided to go back to your room. Don’t worry, I won’t stay here for dinner so you can actually go to the dining hall. I made you some snacks and desserts. I’m going home.” (*Nevermind what I’ve said.)
Before Jae Kyung could turn her back to Prince Yi Eul, he suddenly walked closer to her and buried his head on her shoulder which actually caught her off guard.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it…” he murmured. “I was just confused… and scared as well… I was the target, but they point the gun at you. This is the only way I could think of.”
That made Jae Kyung totally caught her off guard.
Prince Yi Eul she knew never gets concerned with other people. He’s too arrogant to do so. Too prideful and too egotistic to do so. He’s f*****g cold like the ocean from Antarctica. Dude, he’s disrespectful as f**k. A total brat. He never gets worried and just does what pleases him and his words are absolute. His order, his rule. He’s a huge dickhead that doesn’t care about anyone but himself (and Da Hyun, because dude, he’s so f*****g in love with her). Jae Kyung was just his pawn to escape from his fixed engagement to the woman he hated so it’s not new for her that he’ll never care about her as well. Prince Yi Eul she knew never cares, never apologizes, and never gets scared.
But now…
“I was just confused… and scared as well… I was the target, but they point the gun at you. This is the only way I could think of. I didn’t know that I’m giving you a hard time. I’m sorry.”
That moment, Jae Kyung realized something. She realized something that she’s afraid to admit and wished she didn’t realize and felt it.
She got scared… by the way her heart was pounding like crazy.
