사십팔의 왕관 (49)
“Yah, Kim Jae Kyung. I’m coming out now.”
Jae Kyung turned her head to Prince Yi Eul who just came out from the fitting room. He was already wearing a black sweater with a white long-sleeved polo underneath, black jeans and he’s also wearing a black wig with a beanie and he’s wearing eyeglasses—totally far from his Princely appearance. Jae Kyung was actually wearing a black, straight-hair wig and a normal white long-sleeved shirt and black jeans which were actually her comfy fashion. Of course, she also had to wear a disguise since the whole South Korea already knew her and her face.
“I look weird. And the cloth is each as f**k. Is this even cotton or polyester or something? It’s seriously itchy.”
The former just looked at him in awe. They’re currently one of the subway markets in Myeondong where they could actually blend in with people and shop cheap but good quality clothing without drawing everyone’s attention. Prince Yi Eul actually wanted to just go to the mall or to the actual Gucci store where he could buy casual outdoor clothing but Jae Kyung was already too sick and tired of wearing expensive clothes, courtesy of the Crown Prince, so, she just dragged him to Myeondong.
Prince Yi Eul was actually hesitant about the idea of strolling around Myeongdong because, as he said, royals shouldn’t go out to the public such as public places and stuff for security purposes.
But here he is, being dragged around by Jae Kyung and he didn’t know how the hell he agreed to her or how the heck she convinced him into her gimmicks.
And yes, they also escaped their bodyguards, especially Do Wan who’s like a watchdog that could sense him when he’s not around.
Well, Jae Kyung should actually be thankful that Peter is not around since he assigned him to watch over his queen grandmother.
Crazy, isn’t it?
Well, Jae Kyung was actually a weird, crazy girl—in Crown Prince Yi Eul’s point of view.
Somewhere that His Highness will gonna have some fun, she said. And who would really think he’ll fell on her words?
He’s more like in danger and in trouble than having fun.
“I know I’m handsome but can you please stop staring? It’s weird.”
“Wow,” Jae Kyung muttered. “For your information, Your Highness, just because I’m staring at you doesn’t mean you’re already handsome in my eyes. I’m staring at you because look waaaaaay different than the actual Crown Prince Yi Eul you are.”
“If you’ll going to say I look weird, I will definitely punish you. This is your entire fault,” Prince Yi Eul said begrudgingly.
“No, you don’t look weird, you know. You look different, not weird. You actually looked like a normal person now,” she told him, grinning.
That made Prince Yi Eul stares at her.
“But you don’t look actually a normal person. You can pass as a model or a Korean idol. You know, you’ll going to sing onstage such as in M! Countdown, Music Bank, Show Champion or Inkigayo. You’ll be going to sing and dance, you know what I mean?” Jae Kyung started to dance and sing. “Like ‘I’m creeping in your heart, babe. Dwijipgo muneoteurigo samkyeo~’ or ‘It’s the love shot, nananananananana~’ or ‘Don’t mess up my tempo deureo bwa igeon chungbunhi~ I said, don’t mess up my tempo geunyeoye mameul humchil Beat, uh!’”
“I know what a K-pop idol is coz I met a bunch of them. Stop that.”
But Jae Kyung kept on teasing him so she kept dancing and singing. “Doegopa neoui oppa, neoui sarangi nan neomu gopa. Doegopa neoui oppa neol gatgo mal geoya dugo bwa— wae nae mameul heundeuneun geonde? wae nae mameul heundeuneun geonde? wae nae mameul heundeuneun geonde? heundeuneun geonde? heundeuneun geonde?”
“I said stop, Kim Jae Kyung.”
“Ne, sonnim! DU DU DU!”
Prince Yi Eul almost facepalmed when he saw how Jae Kyung kept making faces while dancing. He noticed that the people around them were now looking at them and one of them even got her smartphone to record Jae Kyung but Prince Yi Eul was quick on dragging Jae Kyung out of the store.
“Stop doing such weird things in public. You’re a princess, Jae Kyung. Remember that,” Prince Yi Eul begrudgingly said as he kept on pulling Jae Kyung somewhere.
“Yi Eul,” Jae Kyung muttered which actually made Prince Yi Eul stop and look at her. They’re still holding each other’s hands, intertwining their fingers together, as if they don’t have plans of letting each other go. “You’re not a Crown Prince.”
Prince Yi Eul just stared at him.
“And I’m also not the Princess Consort. I'm not the Princess of South Korea,” she added, looking at him in the eyes. “Today, we’re just like normal people. I want you to have fun today without worrying about anything, about you being the last and current Crown Prince of South Korea, and about your throne. Today, you’re just Yi Eul and I am just Kim Jae Kyung.”
That actually made Prince Yi Eul caught off guard. He didn’t actually expect that…
No, scratch that.
It actually made him remember a wishful thinking he used to have when he was still a kid.
Yes, that day…
“If I’m just a normal kid… I might have friends, right, eomma?”
The silence took over. People come and go and yet they just stood on their post, staring at each other in silence.
God, what am I saying? Did I offend him? Gosh, Kim Jae Kyung, you’re such an i***t! You’re so embarrassing!
Thinking that she did something wrong, Jae Kyung sighed. She slowly pulled her hand away from Prince Yi Eul’s hold as she spoke. “I apologized for what I said, Your Highness. I didn’t realize that my emotions took me over and I disrespected you. Please, don’t mind what—”
She immediately looked at Prince Yi Eul when the latter pulled her hand back at his hold. “You said that you’ll take me somewhere. Somewhere that I’ll gonna have some fun.”
“E-Eh?”
Prince Yi Eul frowned and let go of Jae Kyung’s hand. He, then, coughed and cleared his throat. “We still have the whole afternoon and evening. My time is precious so don’t waste it. Now, keep moving, assistant.”
Prince Yi Eul walked ahead of her, without sparing her a glance. That actually made Jae Kyung grin and just as that, she caught up to Prince Yi Eul and walked to his side, grinning.
“Yi Eul.”
“What?”
“So you’re allowing me to call you Yi Eul?”
“Just for today, you dumbass.”
“Okay, Yi Eul.”
“Shut up, Jae Kyung.”
“Get ready, Yi Eul-ah. Today is a long daaaaay~”
Prince Yi Eul just side-eyed her then looked forward, smirking. “Yeah, make it worthwhile, you dumbass”
