Prince Yi Eul was not even aware of where Jae Kyung was taking him. All he knew was that he’s trying to blend—or more like hiding himself in public.
Darn it, this idiotic of a fake wife will get a long scolding later once they’ll get home.
“Let’s try this first, Eul-ah!” Jae Kyung grinned, didn’t mind how the Crown Prince was glaring on the back of her head. “Please give us one bowl of tteokbokki.”
“That’ll be 3,000 won, Agassi,” the vendor responded. Jae Kyung fished her wallet out of the jacket’s pocket she’s wearing and paid the vendor as soon as the vendor gave them a bowl of tteokbokki.
Using a stick, Jae Kyung took a piece of the tteokbokki and faced Prince Yi Eul, trying to feed him. “Here. Take a bite.”
“You know what? We can actually make the chef cook this for us. Why bother going here just to eat street foods, especially tteokbokki?” Prince Yi Eul asked, frowning.
“Aish. I know that your chef whatsoever is good when it comes to cooking and serving food but the street foods here in Myeondong are superb and of course, the experience of you eating street foods in public. C’mon, eat up,” Jae Kyung responded, almost scowling at Prince Yi Eul.
Prince Yi Eul slightly cringed at the thought that he’s eating some street food. “Are you sure it’s clean and safe to eat?”
Too fed to Prince Yi Eul’s queries, Jae Kyung held Prince Yi Eul’s face and before he could say a word, she immediately fed him a piece of tteokbeokki. His eyes widen at the sudden action.
“You—”
“Just eat up, you know. Eat now, die later,” Prince Yi Eul almost coughed and glared at her but she just laughed and tapped the Crown Prince’s back. “I’m kidding. So, how was it?”
The Crown Prince pointed his open mouth, making Jae Kyung feed him with a piece of tteokbokki. It took him a second or two to respond. “Hmm. Not bad, actually.”
“See? I told you,” Jae Kyung told him. After they finished the bowl of tteokbokki, Jae Kyung pulled him to another stall of street food. “This one. We’ll gonna eat this one.”
“Uh, what is this?” Prince Yi Eul asked, pointing to the stick that has food on it.
“That’s Odeng-guk! That’s actually one of my favorite street foods,” Jae Kyung responded, giving him a stick of the Odeng-guk or the famous Korean fish cake soup. “Try it, I promise you won’t regret eating that.”
Prince Yi Eul was actually thinking twice. But because Jae Kyung was actually giving him an encouraging, convincing look, he gave it a try. It took him almost half a minute to finally speak. “This is actually good. Can I have another one?”
“Oh, sure. Sure,” Jae Kyung answered and turned her head to the vendor. “Give him three more—”
“No, make it four.”
“Four—”
“No, five,” Prince Yi Eul spoke again, with his mouth full. “Make it five.”
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but chuckle and looked at the vendor once again. “Make it five, ahjumma.”
Jae Kyung was now looking at her almost empty coin purse then to Prince Yi Eul who was now tapping at his full tummy. “Wow, you almost made me broke, Your Highness.”
“I didn’t know the Odeng-guk, Hweori Gamja (tornado potato), grilled cheese, baked cheese scallops, and oh, the KFC (Korean fried chicken)!” Prince Yi Eul sighed in contentment. “I’m so full I could actually skip dinner tonight.”
“See? I told you, you won’t regret it,” Jae Kyung told him, grinning.
“Is this how commoners live?” he asked then chuckle. “It was actually amusing, I have to admit.”
“You know what’s more amusing?” Jae Kyung grinned and held his hand again. “Public performance!”
Before Prince Yi Eul could utter a word, Jae Kyung already pulled him to the crowd where they’re watching a live band performing.
Prince Yi Eul kept on lowering his bonnet so people could not recognize him. “What the heck, Jae Kyung. This place is too crowded! The people might recognize us!”
Jae Kyung turned her head at him. He was already speaking in English so she knew that the Crown Prince was already anxious. She just smiled and fixed his bonnet, enough to make him at ease. “Don’t worry, I’m here, you know?”
That made Prince Yi Eul locked his gaze on her. As the live band behind them kept on singing to a love song that he always hears on the radio, Jae Kyung felt like the time was passing slow the more she stared at the Crown Prince.
It felt like they’re in a romance movie but there’s no romance between them. There’s no romance between the Crown Prince who’s actually in love with another woman and the mere, aspiring romance writer like her who only believed that love in fiction is good. That she couldn’t have it in real life…
…or so, she thought…
Jin Hee shouldn’t feel anything to him. Everything is just fake and if she’ll fell for it, it’ll be too hard for her…
Hopefully, she’ll ignore or totally forget about it…
