Jae Kyung sighed in total satisfaction as they finally came out of the airport. After two agonizing days of staying in Thailand, they’re now finally home.
It’s not that Jae Kyung didn’t like visiting Thailand, gosh no. She was actually happy that she traveled abroad. It’s not the trip or the visit in the country is agonizing her.
But the Crown Prince who’s now walking in front of her is one of the reasons she’s agonizing.
This damn egocentric and arrogant Crown Prince.
“Finally, I could finally go home,” she muttered to herself as soon as she saw the Crown Prince’s car and his bodyguards waiting for him. There were twenty bodyguards that join them on the said trip. It’s not really a problem for the Crown Prince to bring such number of bodyguards since he has his own private jet.
Talk about crazy rich.
Not just crazy rich. He's an actual royalty.
“And who told you you’re going home?” Jae Kyung’s eyes settled on the Crown Prince who actually turned around to face her.
“Uh, what do you mean?” she asked, creasing her brows.
“The assistant will not go home unless His Royal Highness says so and I didn’t say anything about you going home so you’re coming with me. Your job is not yet done,” Prince Yi Eul smirked at her as he entered the backseat of his black car.
Jae Kyung’s mouth dropped at what the Crown Prince said. She wanted to argue but since she felt so tired from the trip, she just sighed and glared at the tinted window of the car’s backseat. The bodyguard beside her gestured the shotgun car’s seat and she sighed and nodded at him then went inside the car. She could feel the Crown Prince’s stare like it was burning holes at the back of her head but she didn’t budged and just seated comfortably on the shotgun seat after fixing her seatbelt.
As soon as the car is moving, she heard Prince Yi Eul saying something at the driver but even if she wants to listen to the conversation but she felt so sleepy to do so. Before the two men could end their conversation, she fell asleep.
“Hey, Jae Kyung. Yah, Jae Kyung!”
“What?!” out of panic because of the shouting, Jae Kyung finally woke up. As soon as she finally adjusted her sight, she saw the Crown Prince’s mocking face at her.
“You should really see your face. You looked so dumb,” Prince Yi Eul commented. “And… is that saliva?”
As soon as the Crown Prince pointed the side of her lips, she hastily wiped the side of her lips, disregarding the disgusted look from the Prince.
“Yeokkyeopda,” Prince Yi Eul cringed as he stood up straight and slid his hands inside the pockets of his slacks. (*Disgusting)
Jae Kyung glared at him as she went out of the car. “You’re overreacting, you know?”
“Anyway,” Prince Yi Eul looked at one of his guards and tilted his head in Jae Kyung’s direction. The bodyguard nodded as he gave the tablet to Jae Kyung who’s now staring at it dumbly. “Read my schedule for today.”
“You don’t know how to read? Look,” as if she’s teaching a kid, Jae Kyung swiped the tablet open and showed it to Prince Yi Eul. “You can just open this tablet easily and read your schedule on your own.”
Prince Yi Eul frowned at Jae Kyung who’s mockingly blinking at him. “What am I again?”
“You’re the last Crown Prince of the Joseon Dynasty’s descendants,” Jae Kyung answered.
“And what’s your job exactly?”
“Your personal assistant.”
“Right. That’s why you’re here because you’re working for me as my PERSONAL ASSISTANT. So stop complaining and talking back at His Royal Highness’ presence and just read it.”
Jae Kyung sighed in defeat. “Okay, fine,” she started reading the Crown Prince’s schedule. “His Royal Highness’ schedule today is not that full but you have an appointment with the President. You’ll be having dinner with him as well as the officials of the Blue House. This dinner is actually a welcome dinner for His Royal Highness’ return. Should I read your schedule tomorrow, Your Highness?”
“No, thank you,” Prince Yi Eul responded. “Am I the only member of the Royal Family who was invited for this dinner?”
“Yes, Your Highness,” Jae Kyung’s gaze settled on the Crown Prince once again. “Are you expecting some relatives attending, Your Highness?”
“No, not exactly,” the Crown Prince went silent, surprisingly.
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but frown. Hmm…
Is there anything that I don’t know about him? Makes me more and more curious, to be honest.
“Oh, by the way,” Prince Yi Eul turned his head at his assistant. “Maids, take Jae Kyung upstairs and tell the Royal Stylist to groom her. She’s coming with me to the dinner.”
“What?! Again?!”
Just nod and smile, smile and nod.
Jae Kyung couldn’t understand anything about what the people around her is talking about. She was actually expecting that it was just a simple dinner in a fine dine or something.
But they’re actually having a cocktail dinner—more like a party just like what she attended in Thailand.
Man, this sucks.
She’ll admit she loves parties. But the party she loves are those party inside the club that she usually attended with her friends and co-workers.
But not fancy parties like this one.
“I just want to ask about your thoughts if the country will become a monarchy once again—just a ‘what if’ though Your Highness—will you still be able to govern like how our the President governs this country?”
Both Jae Kyung and the Crown Prince sensed the sarcasm in the question so Jae Kyung secretly looked at the Crown Prince worriedly.
“If that will happen, I’m afraid you’ll not gonna be able to control… especially that I’m here,” Prince Yi Eul smirked at the senator in front of him.
The senator’s smile suddenly disappeared as soon as he heard the Crown Prince's response. Before the tension between them starts to thicken, Prince Yi Eul chuckled cheerfully. "Just kidding~ just kidding~ I have no plans on that. But one thing that I’m sure, is I will support the President since I have strong faith on him.”
“Right, that’s right, Your Highness,” the senator chuckled, awkwardly. “We’ll going to support the President just like how you;ll gonna give your support to him as well.”
Prince Yi Eul sipped the wine he’s holding and his smirk started to flaunt once again.
“Hypocrites.”
That’s what Prince Yi Eul muttered as soon as he entered his room and settled himself on the sofa.
“Uh, I’m not really a political type of person since… you know… I’m a journalist but I think, they shouldn’t ask that kind of question. Especially that they’re talking behind the President’s back,” Jae Kyung said as she fixed the Crown Prince’s overcoat and put it on the sofa’s arm.
“You think so?” Prince Yi Eul chuckled. “You should expect listening things more than that especially that you’re working for me as well.”
“I’m not your secretary, you know.”
“But you’re my assistant.”
Jae Kyung rolled her eyes. “Yeah, right.”
A pregnant silence enveloped their presence. It seems like the Crown Prince will not gonna initiate a conversation and since it’s awkward for Jae Kyung to leave the prince so she broke it.
“You know, I kinda salute you for maintaining your composure like that. If it was me, I might’ve punched him straight on the face,” Jae Kyung said as she punched the air.
The Crown Prince chuckled weakly at what she said.
Jae Kyung didn’t realize that she’s actually staring at him right now.
It’s been like five days since I met him but I don’t know… for some reason I’m starting to know how to deal with him.
“Don’t expect me to thank you for that.”
Welp, he’s still arrogant as heck.
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “As expected from you.”
“Did you just rolled your eyes to His Royal Highness’ presence?”
“K, fine. Joesonghamnida, seja-jeonha~”
“You’re so sarcastic.”
“I know.”
At that moment, she’s torn between hating him or just merely disliking him.
