*Following Summer*
I couldn't stand the wait. I was so excited to go see Asmodeus. I had played the good girl and listened to my parents all year, making them think that I stopped thinking about demons and fallen angels. I didn't go to the library to look at those books anymore because I figured my parents would end up finding out.
I learned as much as I could when I would go visit Asmodeus. I knew I would get a better understanding of them straight from the source. I chuckled inwardly. If my parents only knew.
My parents let me go about ten minutes ago, and I rushed as fast as I could toward my favorite place in the whole world. Asmodeus's garden. Once I got there, I ran inside and noticed Asmodeus sitting patiently on the step by the door on the wall.
"Asmodeus! I missed you." I screamed out as I ran over and jumped into his arms. He just chuckled lightly and held me close. "It has only been a day, little one, but I missed you as well," he said softly as he kissed my forehead.
"I have a surprise for you, my sweet girl," Asmodeus said roughly. I looked up at him curiously and watched as he took a necklace off his neck that I had never noticed before. "It is so beautiful," I said in awe.
"I wanted to give this to you. Something that means a lot to me for someone who means the world to me. Would you give me the honor of accepting my present?" he asked emotionally.
I shrieked excitedly and nodded my head in acceptance. I hurriedly got up and turned myself around, waiting for him to put the necklace around my neck. I felt him move my hair to the side and place the necklace on me.
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! It is the best gift I could ever get. This means the world to me, Asmodeus." I said happily as tears ran down my cheek. "Why are you crying, little one?" he said, growling, and then lifting his hand to my cheek, he wiped my tears away with his clawed thumbs.
"I am just so happy. You really don't understand the meaning of this for me. Anything from you is special to me. I love you, Asmodeus. I know I am only fourteen and still a child, and I have my whole life ahead of me, but my feelings for you will never change. I meant what I said before. I will wait forever for you. Once I turn eighteen, I am going to tell my parents my mind. No one will keep me from you." I said sternly, but for some reason, I felt a sudden uneasiness in my stomach as it clenched tightly.
Something wasn't right.
I felt like something bad was going to happen today.
Asmodeus's eyes glowed a bright yellow and growled loudly with approval. "Yes, sweet girl, no one will ever keep us apart. I have spoken to Lucifer, and he said that he would look into our situation. You're mine, Addison. Always mine."
Asmodeus tilted his horned head when he noticed my discomfort. "Are you alright, my sweet girl? You don't look like you are doing good at all. What's happening?" He asked with concern.
"I don't know Asmodeus, but something doesn't feel right in the air. Can't you feel it? Something isn't right." I whispered painfully.
He picked me up and cradled me in his arms. I laid my head on his chest and heard his heart beating strongly. He just rocked me back and forth as he whispered loving words in my ears. His fangs elongated, and he bit into his wrist. "Here, little one, drink this. It will help you feel better." he struggled as his concern grew, "It has to. I can't lose you now that I finally have you."
I weakly grabbed his wrist and brought it to my lips, and felt his blood enter my mouth. I drank what I could and then closed my eyes and waited.
After a while, I started to feel better, so I opened my eyes and noticed that Asmodeus's body was tense and he was growling lowly. His face was looking toward the entrance, and he was baring his fangs with anger.
There in the doorway were several hooded figures staring at us. Their eyes were glowing a bright green. "Leave the girl alone, demon scum. How have you escaped your prison? We shall send you back to where you belong." one of the hooded figures said viciously. The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it at the moment. It was a feminine voice.
"How dare you come into my presence and threaten me and what belongs to me. It is none of your concern how I was able to leave that forsaken place you bound me in. All that matters is that I am free and this girl is mine. Leave my sight at once. I will never go back there." Asmodeus roared angrily.
Asmodeus held me tightly to his chest and just began shaking with anger.
"Leave us alone!" I screamed, "He is not demon scum. How could you ever think that of Asmodeus? He is gentle and sweet." I said as I placed my hand on his cheek. His face softened at my touch, and he leaned into my hand.
"He fools you, child. He is nothing but sin-incarnated. He just wants to feed on your soul and send you straight to hêll with his Master, Lucifer." said another hooded figure.
"No! You are lying. Asmodeus loves me, and I love him." I said sternly.
I heard several gasps, and one, in particular, caught my attention.
Mom?
No! That wasn't possible.
My mom's eyes didn't glow green.
She didn't know about Asmodeus or his garden.
Before Asmodeus or I could do anything, the hooded figures began chanting, and Asmodeus groaned in pain as he fell to his knees. He set me down carefully, but he began gasping for air and clawing at his neck.
"NOOO!" I screamed out frantically. I held Asmodeus as he tumbled to the ground in pain. "Please, Asmodeus, get up." I cried. He opened his eyes and tried to focus on me. He gritted his teeth and tried to get up. Once he got up and to his feet, he snarled angrily at the hooded figures ready to attack.
They exchanged glances with each other and then looked at me with a shocked expression. "It can not be! She is the one. No, oh God, no." another said with horror.
What?
I was the one?
I was the one! Of course, they confirmed what I had already felt in my heart. They knew I was Asmodeus's true mate.
Asmodeus lunged for the hooded figures, and they scattered in fear. He grabbed one and ripped their heart out of their chest. He moved to the next one and was about to rip their head off when he stopped dead in his tracks and looked at me with fear.
I felt a hand wrap around my waist and a knife being placed to my throat. "Let him go. NOW!" the hooded figure yelled with a dangerous tone. Several more of them surrounded me and began singing a song and chanting something to me.
My head was throbbing painfully and began swaying in their arms, I felt like my whole world was being ripped away.
"No. Please, don't hurt her." Asmodeus says with defeat as he lets the hooded figure go.
"We don't plan on hurting the child, demon scum. She will never be yours. We will make sure of it. She will never remember you after today because we will be erasing her memories of you. You will suffer alone for eternity." said the hooded figure with finality.
"Asmodeus." I whimpered as I reached my hand out to him.
"Y-you can't d-do this. She's fûcking mine!" he stuttered out but then suddenly growled angrily when he saw me reaching out to him.
I could feel the pain in his voice, and it was killing me.
The chanting began to get louder, and Asmodeus began shaking and fell to his knees.
"Please stop. Don't hurt him." I cried out.
My eyes began to get heavier and heavier until I couldn't fight any longer.
"That's right, child. Just listen to our song. You will forget everything that involves this demon. You will never know he even existed." the voices said hauntingly.
"I love you, Addison. I will come back for you. You belong to me, sweet girl. Always mine." Asmodeus roared loudly, and then there was silence. He was gone. I could feel his absence immediately.
"I love you too, Always yours. Forever." I slurred out as tears ran down my cheeks, and I felt my necklace being ripped off of me.
"You don't need any reminders of this day, princess. It is all over now." said a soft voice, and then there was a loud thud on the ground, and I assumed they threw my necklace down. My heart clenched painfully at that thought.
Then, slowly, my mind began erasing all my memories of Asmodeus until there was nothing. I was an empty canvas.
I felt empty and incomplete, and I didn't even remember why.
My life had irrevocably changed, and I felt like something huge had been ripped away from me. Something important, but no one seemed to understand or even care.
