Chapter 13, Louie Hicks: General Asher Black had only been dead five days, and Louie was already regretting his absence. The general had to die, there was no doubt about that. He had outlived his usefulness. In most respects, the general was a pain in the ass who treated Louie like s**t and had overstepped his bounds with the men of Bore-tide. His decision to maintain the status quo led the country to the brink of ruin. The one thing he did take care of, and Louie now missed the most, was handling the court, especially the whining most of the elders were famous for. With the strong arm of the general missing, the ruling families grew bolder each day. Louie yearned to retire from the throne, to find some quiet place to spend his days writing, reading… perhaps he would try his hand at pain
