I hear parents unlock the door and enter the house.
"What were you doing today?" my mom's voice gets louder as she approaches.
I know I have to tell them everythinh now. Just where to start? Whatever I say, my parents will still be scared, so I decide to tell everything from the beginning.
'Well, I learned a lot about myself today. Remember those seemingly stupid repetitive dreams I told you about" parents nod their heads without clearly understanding why I'm talking about them now. "They turn out to mean something"
"That you were a wolf in your last life?" my father grins.
"No," I say seriously. "This means I can turn into a wolf in this life.
I see parents looking at me worried. Apparently considering who pushed me to speak
such nonsense.
- I knew you wouldn't believe me, so to prove it, I can change in front of you. Just a warning - clothes will be torn apart.
"Well, okey," my father clearly still disbelieves, "change."
I notice that my mother has lost her voice and is watching me closely.
I concentrate, letting the heat flood my body. Even knowing the pain awaits, I feel joy. To be a wolf is good. Everything in me demands it.
I feel pain now, but it is a little smaller than it was for the first time. The sound of bursting seams reaches my ears.
Only suddenly everything changes. I smell the fragrance of my parents with my highly sensitive wolf nose. It overcomes all my thoughts. I notice how the awe in parents' faces is replaced by fright. I tense my muscles for the jump.
It's not clear how everything would have ended if not for the sudden sound of broken glass. I smell a familiar scent. A gray wolf appears quickly. I was surprised to see that he was carrying a bag over his shoulder. Then I remember the smell and realize just how close I was to attacking my own parents.
When I look at my parents, I see the them standing scared and stiff in fear. Then I remember that Michael had mentioned something about difficult control. Only now do I realize what he meant then. The smell of real people, not werewolves, encouraged me to attack and tear.
I leave the room to find clothes to change into my human form and calm down my parents. Michael is following me. I see how he smells the air and, once he has successfully discovered the bathroom, goes inside. I look into the gray wolf questioningly. The guy somehow unhookes the bag and shows the clothes in it with his big snoot.
Incredible, but only now I realize I don't know what I look like when I am in a wolf. In the hallway mirror I see a wolf of extraordinary beauty. I realize that this is myself. Totally white with a fairly long coat. This will help me remain undetected and in the snow at this time and also not to freeze. Slightly smaller than Michael. I guess it's also because I'm younger than him. My light blue eyes fit against the white coat.
Finally, I stop staring into the mirror and walk to the closet. I open it's door a little bit with my pretty huge snoot and manage to pull off the first clothes that I can reach. I close the door, change into a human and get dressed.
When I get back to the sitting room, I'm stunned. Michael is already chatting calmly with my parents, who, however strange, seem to be completely calm.
"Your friend explained everything to us," my mom smiles, "I would never have thought the werewolves were real."
I look at my parents then at the guy. He smiles clearly amused to my surprise.
"Pick up a bag like mine. Put your clothes on it. Let's go to intelligence", he says.
Although I am slightly offended by the insistence on his tone, I obey. After all, I have to be grateful to him for helping me. I change into warmer clothes and find a pretty sporty looking bag. I decide that nothing needs to be put into it yet and I return to the room.
"I'm ready," I say.
Michael smiles.
"Well, then we will go. Good bye! ”He tells my parents and pulls me towards the door.
"All right," they answer, turning to me, "we know we can be calm. We had a chance to make sure this guy will take a good care of you"
I go outside where Michael is waiting for me.
"How did you manage to get my parents to like you this much in such a short time"
"I probably have the ability to convince people," he nods and "throws" his branded smile, "and now it's time to go. First we will come to my house and turn into wolves there. We did not do this at your home because I live away from the city and it is much less likely that we will be noticed. Also, now it's your turn to meet my parents."
The last thing he said scares me. What if I don't want to meet his parents at all? But I don't say anything. I know it won't help.
As we get closer to his home, I start to worry even more. He notices it somehow.
"Don't be afraid, my parents don't bite. Everything will be fine."
I do not understand why even an overdone phrase like "everything will be fine" on his lips sounds convincing and reassures me. I take a deep breath and step through the door.
I am met by a woman of about forty years of age and a man of similar age. "Hi," she says, "I guess you're Diana?"
"Hello," I try to answer briskly, "yes, I'm Diana. And you, I'm guessing, Michael's mom?"
The woman nods her head.
"I am very happy that my son will finally fight these killers not alone. At least I will be calmer. After all, it is easier for two than for one."
"We're going to change and leave," says Michael, noticing that I'm starting to feel uncomfortable again. Finally, I'm happy to leave already in the form of a wolf. In the open air, I breathe quickly. I barely managed not to attack Mike's parents as well.
I feel him looking at me and turn to him. It looks like he is smiling. So, appearently wolves can smile.
The gray wolf moves and I follow him. I'd like to try my speed right now, but I know I have to do exactly what Michael is doing, otherwise I might be noticed.
After a long and boring run, we finally reach the forest. Suddenly the wolf turns to me with a strange mischievous look in his eyes. I realize he offers me to race. This is exactly what I wanted. We start running. I notice that, at the same time, the gray wolf is sniffing everything around. Then I remember that we were not here to play. We are here to protect people from the evil werewolves.
Following Michael's example, I begin to sniff everything. Suddenly I smell an odor similar to our attackers today. I growl silently to get Mike's attention and follow it. Gray wolf quickly joins me.
The longer we follow the scent, the stronger it becomes. I see the wolf near me starting to worry. Soon I smell another similar scent nearby, and another smell near it. I report this to Michael. He suddenly freezes. I follow his example.
After a moment, a terrible howl is heard around us. With horror I realize - we have been surrounded. There is nowhere to run. All we have to do is wait.
