***Lucas’s POV***
She was so frail; she looked like she had not eaten in weeks. As she lay still and sedated I was able to inspect what I had seen earlier, I lifted the fabric and saw such terror. Her body was covered in scars and fresh wounds, they wrapped around her like silk. Claw marks, bite marks and as I turned her I growled. Four words were carved into her skin, how could someone do something like this? As I lay her back down I looked down at her, I could see the effect of the abuse on her face. Her skin looked so lifeless and pale, her bones were prominent and high, and she had a scar from bellow her ear to her lip. The four s***h marks would greet her every morning or whenever she would look in the mirror, they would be a reminder to her.
“Lucas we land shortly, I suggest you keep her sedated until we get her back to the house. I’ll see if I can find her a change of clothes,” Willow said as she walked to the back of the plane.
Willow was third in command and top warrior after me, she returned with a hot towel and a change of clothes. I took the towel and wiped away the dirt and blood before dressing her in clean clothes, I felt sorrow for her. She was treated in a way no one should ever be, and she was about to be leverage against the Rouge king. Leo was just as bad, maybe worse and this girl was about to be laid at his feet. Since Bella was killed he hasn’t been the same, she was all he had left after his parents died. Except for Tyler his little sister, I hoped she was the one to bring him back but he pushed himself from her. He sent her away to live in France with the Royal family, as it was too dangerous for her here. There was something about this woman, something that told me she was worth saving. But how? Leo may be my oldest friend but he’s still my Alpha, in what position was I in to keep him from doing this? The seat belt sign went on and the plane began to descend, the wheels touched the ground the plane began to slow down until a complete stop. I got up and took her in my arms as she was still out, and I hoped she would be until we get home. We made our way towards the black SUV; I got in and lay her down in the seat in front of me. She needed rest for what’s to come.
*** Iris’s POV***
His body lay still and calm, I crept towards the door and out into the hallway. The torches lit the way and the moon shone through the bars of the windows, it was so quiet tonight. As I reached the end of the hallway I heard a loud growl come from behind me, I slowly turned my head towards the darkness. All I could see was his eyes burning red in the, he shifted into his midnight black wolf and snarled. As he started towards me I screamed and ran for it, I could feel the ground shaking as he came closer. I tripped and fell, but that was until I felt my leg clamped between metal jaws. It was a wolf trap and it sliced through my skin every time I moved. I screamed in agony as I saw the skin torn and gushing blood, he shifted back and stood over me with his sadistic smirk.
“Your mine,” he said as he picked up the chain and dragged me back down the hallway kicking and screaming.
As he threw me through the doors the screams of my past filled my head, the memories of his inflected torment flashed through me. As I screamed for him to stop, as I tried to crawl away, as his fists meet my face, as he ripped me apart. I turned and lay flat on my back, he crawled on top of me he wrapped his claws around my neck.
“You can never escape me my love, for you are mine and always will be,” I watched as his eyes burned red and his fangs extended.
Without another word he plunged them into my neck and I screamed in pure agony.
**
I shot up and threw my arms out as I continued to scream, my body went into full defence mode.
“HOLD HER!”
My wrists were pulled and held together; I kicked and screamed until I was pinned down.
“Iris stop its okay! I won’t hurt you! It was only a dream Iris, open your eyes.”
I stopped screaming and tried to calm down; I slowly opened my eyes and saw Lucas staring back at me with worried eyes. A look I had never seen on the Alpha face, it was both comforting and unorthodox.
“We are going to let you go now, I presume you aren’t going to scream,” he said with a small smiled.
I nodded my head and they let me go, as an instinct I cowered away from them. Last time I was alone with a man he r***d me, he took advantage of me so I couldn’t think anything else.
“Go, I will do this alone,” he said and the two others who stood beside him nodded and left.
I looked around and I was in a room, it was warm here and bright. It was much nicer than my room; it was clean and splashed with colour. The walls were a pure shade of white complemented with gorgeous art, the curtains were a light grey tied with silk. The bed was huge, the soft satin sheets caressed my beaten skin, and the pillows were filled with clean feathers. This was a dream compared to my reality, I did not belong here. I looked down to see that I no longer wore my torn dress but clean cotton pyjamas; I winced as I lifted my top to look at my wounds that were now bandaged.
“You were in pretty bad shape; I had the doctor check you over and stich you up. I also had one of the maids dress you, how do you feel?” he said and I didn’t say anything I was too afraid to.
“You slept for a while which I know you needed, so breakfast is almost ready the Alpha isn’t her at the moment so you will be spending most of the day with me,” he said and smiled.
He was different, he was not like the men I had meet or lived with. He was kind and sweet, very handsome and gentle. I wanted to say something but I was terrified and thought this was just an illusion.
“Iris I’m not going hurt you, I want you to know that. Your safe with me, and as long as I am here I won’t let anything happen to you. I don’t know what you’ve been through but I have a pretty good idea, I would like to help you in any way I can, whether it be a shoulder to cry on or just someone to talk to.”
I watched his eyes and I knew I could trust him; I built up the courage and pushed aside the fear.
“Thank you,” I said and his face sparked with light.
“I will bring breakfast up and we will eat out on the balcony,” he smiled and got up.
As he left me I thought of his kindness, how I had never experienced such a thing. I couldn’t remember the last time I had heard someone say ‘your safe’ or ‘I won’t hurt you.’
I lived my life drowning in fear and pain; I still am but something about him made me feel more relaxed, I was just waiting for the sudden burst of violence. I stood up and walked towards the balcony doors, only to be greeted by a gust of cool wind. I smiled and let my fingers dance against it, the light of the sun washed over me and I breathed in the untainted air. The air I was used to smelt like rot and death, but here the air was much nicer. The land was covered in sweet green grass, the oak trees lined the barrier and the sound of laughter filled the air. It was sweet, but I was used to sour. If there was one hard lesson I had learned over my years of living under a tyrant it was this… Always expect the worst.
