Book One: Chapter 7

She quickly threw on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt and exited the closet. She sat on the edge of the bed as she slipped on the sneakers he had gotten her and started lacing them up. He was back on his laptop not paying attention and she decided to try and scare him. She tiptoed and snuck up behind him, yelling boo as she grabbed his shoulders, and of course he didn't flinch. "Wolf hearing babe, remember? I heard you comin a mile away," he laughed. "Your no fun," she said sticking her tongue out at him. "Watch yourself beautiful or I might put that tongue to good use," he replied with a wink. "What are you up to on that thing anyways," she questioned trying to change the subject as he pulled her down on his lap and nuzzled his face against her neck once more. "Just checking out the packs stocks are doing well and seeing how are investments are coming along. Boring stuff I promise but it keeps us going." Shutting the laptop and shifting her off of his lap he grabbed her hand and they started heading downstairs. There were a lot more people out and about at this time of day. They had snuck out so early the previous morning barely anyone was awake and he had asked the few people who were awake to give them a bit of space. When they returned they went straight up to their room to unpack everything. Kal greeted every person they passed, by name, and she was in awe at how amazing he was as Alpha. She had been in several packs before as a guest and although their Alphas and Lunas were always nice to her, she really ever only saw them converse with high ranking members. They would delegate smaller matters to their beta's or omega's. Kal seemed like the type to be involved in all matters little or small. He was so caring and kind, not the kind of reputation an Alpa usually like to have. Most Alpha males wanted to be feared and nothing less. As they are walking Trinty's grip tightens on Kal's Hand. She starts to hear whispers from those around them. Why would he bring her here? How can a rogue be his mate? I don't want some outcast as my luna. He looked down at her worried until he realized what she was upset about. He had long ago stop listening to peoples opinions of him, especially since no one dare say anything to his face, and gossip was just a thing he didn't worry himself about but for her it was different she wasn’t used to all the attention and frankly mean things being said about her. He made a mental note to speak to the entire pack later and ensure everyone treated her with the respect and love their luna deserved no matter her history. "Just ignore them," he said stopping to brush some hair from her face and planting a soft kiss on her forehead, right now all he wanted to do was focus on her. They finally make it over to the training grounds and he suggests she just stand against one of the trees and observe. She does as she said becoming extremely interested in seeing him fight. He takes his place up front and shares some pack news before getting into the training plan for the day. Trinity sort of zones out on his words and simply watches as everyone listens. She could see how much everyone respected him by the way they stood at attention and intently listened to every word he spoke. She notices a few she-wolfs smiling widely at him, hanging on a little too much to every word he is saying, and she couldn’t help but laugh. Young girls crushing on their Alpha was quite amusing. She laughed a little at the sight of them ogling him with their love sick puppy dog eyes on full display. All the sudden all eyes were on her. Oh s**t she thought to herself. Apparently she laughed a little too loud because Kal had stopped talking and was giving her a stern look. She didn't mean to interrupt him and felt a little guilty. Then he gestures her up front and she shakes her head no. She was not ready for that at all, to be eyed by 1/3 of the pack, and shown off as Kal's mate. He gave her another stern look and she knew she better listen or he would come grab her and yank her to the front. She quickly moved to his side and her nerves got the better of her as she started fidgeting with her hands behind her back and wobbling slightly back and forth. "This is the newest member of our pack, Trinity," he states pausing for a moment trying to figure out if now was the best way to introduce her as his luna. "She is... well she is here to see exactly how we train,” he continues deciding he would much rather do that another time and place. He wanted to announce to the world that she was his mate but from the way she was fidgeting around next to him he knew it would make her even more uncomfortable than she already was. He told her to grab a place up front to which she shot him a, I thought I was simply observing, look. This was her punishment for laughing during his little pre workout speech. She would have to find a way to get a little payback. The group started with some yoga, which she found a bit odd. Kal explained it helped calm the mind and strengthen the bodies core, as he moved behind her to position her body accurately in the position they began with. After yoga they moved on to some martial arts movements, which made more sense to her. Then he announced it was time for one on one fighting. Everyone paired off with their usual partners leaving Trinity alone but before she could go take her place back under the tree Kal's voice boomed behind her. "Where do you think your going," he questioned. "Everyone is already paired up I was just going to watch and not laugh,” she said with a wink at the end. “Oh no ya don’t,” he said grabbing her wrist before she could get away. “You’ll partner with me.” “No way,” she said, even though the huge grin on his face was making her weak in the knees and willing to do whatever he wanted. “Your an Alpha I’m just… I’m not as strong or as fast as you.” “Doesn’t matter my little luna I want to see what you got,” he whispered. “Well don’t take it easy on alpha,” she teased with a challenge behind her words. They began about a yard away from each other and Kal made the first move taking a few steps towards hers. She smirked as she put her hands up to block what she anticipated would be a punch, which it was, and she ended up just ducking beneath his arm. Typical male, she thought to herself, they were always so predictable. He attempted a few more hits and kicks to her side and she managed to avoid any contact from him. She was a runner and enjoyed running through the forests her whole life. It helped her become agile as she would have to jump over large roots sticking up from the ground and duck under large hanging branches. “Are you taking it easy on me,” she questioned, because she honestly thought there was no way he was giving her everything he had. With one flash of his gorgeous dimples she was distracted long enough for him to manage to get her on the ground. He stood over her extending his arm to help her up but instead she hooked the back of her legs around his and pulled back towards herself with all her might making him fall backwards and in a flash she was on top of him with her forearm against his throat. He responded by quickly flipping her over on the ground, putting himself on top of her, and pinning her arms above her head. His hand ran down the length of her arm and side settling on her hip bone with a little squeeze. “You are very fast and agile my love, I can only imagine how much better it will be after we mate and mark each other,” he said leaning down closely to her. At first she thought he was going to kiss her but then her eyes widened at his statement and the way her mouth was opened in shock there was no way he would kiss her. They thought of them mating and him marking her still made her nervous but the more time she spent with him the nerves were starting to turn into butterflies. She did have to admit him having her pinned down in that position was making her excited and from the way he was looking at her, a hunger in his eyes, he was feeling the same way. She reached her free hand up and gently touched his face admiring how handsome her was. For a few minutes they had actually forgotten that there were other people around until his beta Felix coughed. “Break it up you two,” Felix said with a chuckle. They to both snapped out of the intense staring contest they had inadvertently put themselves in. Kal smiled when Trinity began to blush from everyone staring at the two of them. She quickly removed her hand from his face and he sighed missing her touch already. He stood up and she grabbed his hand he offered to help her up. She brushed herself off as he dismissed everyone from training. He grabbed her hand they went back inside to shower and wash the dirt and sweat from their bodies. Once she stepped a few feet into the bedroom and heard the door close behind them the urge to kiss him overwhelmed her. Trinity turned around and pushed Kal against the door, reaching up and grabbing his face to pull it down to her. The moment their lips touched, their hunger for each other took over, as he lifted her up and carried her over to his bed not allowing their lips to part for even a moment he laid her down on the mattress softly. Scooting her back gently and moving along with her, she instinctively opened her legs, and he settled his body in between them. As he deepened their kiss he moved gently against her so she understood exactly what he wanted and how she was affecting him. He waited for her to pull away to stop him but it didn’t happen. He moved his lips from her and place a kiss right behind her ear before releasing a whisper. “I love you my strong and enticing luna.” She immediately stiffened beneath him. “Did you just say what I think you just said,” she asked in a hush tone unsure if she really heard those words come out of his mouth or she had imagined it. “I love you,” he repeated. She wiggled out from underneath him and hopped off the bed. She started pacing slightly right in front of the bed trying to process all that had happened in the last day and a half and what the hell he could have meant when he said those three words. They didn’t know each that well. Yes they had learned a little bit about each other but that wasn’t enough to fall in love with someone. There was no way her could have meant that, it had to have slipped. Was he crazy? Kal moved to a sitting position on the edge of bed realizing he fu**ed up. He got lost in the heat of the moment and having her in his arms like that he couldn’t help it. He was undoubtedly in love with the woman standing before him. She was amazing and beautiful. Smart and strong. She was independent and fearless. He was aware that he still knew very little about her and that most of his love for her may simply be from her being his mate but that didn’t mean his feelings weren’t real. The mate bond just amplified what he felt deep inside his soul and he knew for a fact that he loved her but he also knew he should have waited to tell her because now she was freaking out and he didn’t know what to say to calm her. “You don’t love me… you can’t love me… we don’t even know each other Kal.” “I know we aren’t that familiar with each other yet but I know you feel it… you feel our bond… the strong connection between us.” “I feel something yes but not… that.” “Love,” he said standing and making his way over to her. “I know it’s a scary word but Trinity I have never said it to anyone else. Only you and that’s because its you. You are my mate and my luna but you are also the love of my life. No one has ever or will ever compare the way I feel when I’m with you. I am in love with you and I know its soon but I just couldn’t hold it in any longer.” “I…,” she couldn’t think of what to say and he grabbed her hands in his trying to calm her nerves but she pulled away “I need to go for a run,” she replied and headed for the door with him following behind. “Alone,” she said glancing over her shoulder.
