My gaze flitted up to meet Axel's golden gaze and I felt my cheeks flushing red. Why did it feel so awkward right now? Was it just me?

Axel's sigh filled the car and my gaze moved up to meet his. His hand covered mine comfortingly. "What's got you all in a bind, angelfish?"
"Did I miss something?" I blurted.
"I don't think I'm following." He was calm. Not judgemental at all, but I could still feel the tightness of unease in my chest. These feelings were due to the way my father reacted to me when I questioned him. He rarely took it well.
