CHA 9: Triumphant Return

1053 Words
WEST "Hey! Go get a first aid box, hurry" Aerith orders, and I rolled my eyes. "Don't listen to her, go back to your duties" I instructed the servant Aerith called, and she left. "I said I'm fine, besides Mr Savior made it so". I had a far away look as I spoke, a blush creeps up my face. "Who is he?" she questions, while winking at me. "You're such a manipulative flirt, besides I don't know his name but I'm grateful he did save me from getting shot" I exhaled briefly. My expression was akin to joy, perhaps. "But who the hell tried to shoot you? Seems like they want to be refined into a barbecue" she teased, and I shot her a stink eyes before chuckling. Before I could further the conversation, Faxon walks into the council hall, where I and Aerith decided to chill, of all places. He bows down after seeing me. "You were waiting for me to come to the club right!" I inquired in annoyance, causing him to flinch in fear. Glowering at people is such a daunting habit of mine. "It's not what you think Miss West, I worked extra time to make sure the club functions effectively" he says with a pleading look. "And that issue that led to you working extra time, was solved right?" I questioned, as my tone drops in a hint of displeasure. "Of course it was Miss West" he nods eagerly to affirm me. "Very well then. Aerith make sure to cancel all my schedules and appointments for the coming few days. I need to go home" I enunciated in a monotone and immediately left. The house was unusually cold and silent, that's odd. I made my way into the kitchen, there I spotted two female servants watching a movie on their phone. It was top confusing for me as I furrowed my eyebrows. "What's going on here?" I asked with my voice dropping in irritation. They both recoiled in fear, they switched off the phone while cowering. "Miss....W-West you're back...this soon" one of them stutters as they seemed terrified "So this is what you do when I'm not at home huh?" I widened my eyes a bit as I asked. "No...No, of course not Miss West" "We're so sorry Miss West, it won't repeat itself again. Please forgive us, we're sorry" I received profuse apologies from the two of them and I rolled my eyes as I scoured the kitchen in search of someone who is obviously not home. I still can't believe this is what they do in my house whenever I'm not home. "Where is the Chief Chef!" I inquired "She went to the grocery store" they answered in unison. "Good enough since I returned. You?" I called, and she blinks at me. "Follow me to my room now" I ordered and began making my way out. I halted because I didn't hear any footsteps accompanying mine. "Don't make me repeat myself" my voice drops in a bellow and she scurried pass me. ---------- BEVERLY I was scrolling through my phone when I suddenly heard a car's horn from downstairs. I dropped my phone on the bed, and went to the window to look. Some of the Mafia guards were standing outside along with Elvin and Rake. They waited for the car to entirely drive in, and after a little suspense, I saw Lori slip out of the car looking like a British princess. Her mission was at Great Britain, but why is she suddenly looking like them? I frowned as they bowed at her. This is monumentally awkward. A pang of anger resurged within me, making me to feel daunted. I wasn't going to go down and welcome her, I better-still stay locked inside this room I scrambled into my bed, anger searing at me. The Lord Mafia, I and Lori are the foundation of Ocean Howls Mafia Clan, but Lori is given much respect, more than I can possibly get. It hurts, perhaps it's because she brings valid solutions and ideas than I do. Maybe I am not respected or regarded because I make rash decisions. I mean you can't blame me, everything I do is for the growth of our Mafia Clan. As I drown myself into deep thoughts, a knock sounded on the door pulling me back to reality. "What is it?" I mumbled angrily. "Miss Beverly, you're needed downstairs for the return of Miss Lori". The voice sounded like that of a guard, and I pulled myself out from my misery. "I'm coming" I muttered and got off the bed heading downstairs. I stride into the luxury palace-like living room of the Mafia House, and there I found Elvin, Rave and Lori seated on a couch, chitchatting. I badly wanted to avoid the trio but Lori didn't give me a chance to escape. "Oh Beverly, what a torturing long time of not seeing your lovely face" she says in a British accent, causing me to gape at her fantastical courtesy. Why did she change her accent?, the question pops into my head and foist a gawk on my face. She furrowed her eyebrows at me in confusion. "Did you miss me that much, for you to give out such a sulky squeamish attitude?" she asks, causing me to roll my eyes in an attempt of disrupting my urge to laugh. As much as I was enjoying the accent, I still needed to look tough and reserved. "You're highly welcomed back Lori" I rasped. Elvin and Rake frowns at my uncultured attitude towards Lori, but I so don't care. "Now that you are triumphantly back, can we discuss on the problems we're facing?" My voice was laced with disdain as I sat comfortably on a couch. Lori wasn't fazed by my disrespectful sneer but Rake and Elvin sure were angry. "Beverly, Lori here has just returned from a long journey and you impede her relaxing time with problems?" Elvin arches his eyebrows at me. I scoffed with my eyes which was still glued on her uncanny face. "Elvin it's okay. What problem do you speak of, Beverly?" she inquires sternly, back to her original accent. I feel disappointed because I have forced her to drop the British accent, but Mafia duties comes first.
