❤ Liv's POV ❤
THE next time I met with Aaron, he brought more pastries and drinks. It was fortunate because I haven't had anything to eat yet. My mom did not have an appetite earlier, and we agreed to eat something after her treatment.
I was all smiles when I saw Aaron, but when he sat down, I couldn't help but notice something strange about him.
Aaron: "Hi."
Liv: "Hi."
I kept looking at Aaron and when our eyes met, he said "I'm sorry. I know I don't look so good. I barely had enough sleep last night."
Liv: "Oh, okay."
As Aaron unpacked the food, I decided to ask "Why are you at the hospital all the time? Are you working here?"
Aaron: "Oh, no. I can't work at the hospital. The sight of blood makes me nauseous."
Liv: "Oh."
Aaron: "I work in the marketing department of a shopping mall."
Liv: "Oh, really. What's that like?"
Aaron: "It has its ups and downs. Basically, we have to come up with ideas on how to market the mall."
Liv: "Okay. Do you like it?"
Aaron: "Sometimes."
Liv: "I'll be in college next year. I don't know what to study yet."
Aaron: "Well, what is your passion?"
Liv: "I love reading and writing. Sometimes I write short stories."
Aaron: "Oh yeah? What kind of stories?"
Liv: "I don't really have a preferred genre, but I mostly like writing murder mysteries or crime stories."
Aaron was all smiles as he said "Really? I wish I could read one of your stories one of these days."
Liv: "I can email you one of them if you like.
Aaron: "That would be great. Give me your number. I'll text you where you can send it."
I gave my number to Aaron and my phone vibrated in my bag after a few seconds.
Aaron: "That's me. Save my number. I'll text you later."
Liv: "Okay."
Aaron was still holding his phone when it pinged. He frowned, and after a few seconds, he said "I'm sorry. I have to go."
Liv: "O-okay."
Aaron: "I'll text you later."
Aaron left in a hurry, and he almost hit a table on his way out of the cafeteria. I was sad that my time with Aaron was cut short.
My frown turned into a smile when my phone pinged and I saw a message from Aaron.
Aaron: "Don't be sad. We'll see each other again."
I kept smiling as I replied, "I'm not sad, not anymore ☺️."
Aaron then sent me an email address where I could send him my stories. He promised to read them and give an honest opinion, which I welcomed. My mom is the only one who's read my stories, and I know that she's biased, so I can't really trust her when she says my stories are great.
Aaron and I kept chatting while I ate pastries. We kept chatting until I had to go to work in the afternoon. We chatted again when I got back home until I fell asleep for the night.
--------------------------------------------
Aaron and I kept texting each other during our free time. We still saw each other in the hospital. I was getting scared that he might get tired of me soon.
I was on my way out of the restaurant I was working at when I heard someone call my name. It was late at night so I got scared and walked faster. The voice got louder and sounded familiar, and when I turned around, I saw that it was Aaron. He was running after me while he waved.
I stopped walking and headed towards him. When I got close to him, I asked "Aaron? What are you doing here?"
Aaron: "I wanted to see you, and you mentioned that you're working here at night, so I came."
Liv: "Oh. You wanted to see me? But you could have waited until tomorrow. We'll see each other at the hospital."
Aaron: "No, I couldn't."
Aaron walked closer to me and when he was just a few inches away, he said "I really miss you and I can't wait another day to see you."
I bowed my head and smiled. I felt like I was blushing and I didn't want Aaron to see it. He lifted my head and looked at my face as he said "You're really cute when you blush. Did you miss me too?"
I nodded slightly as I smiled. Aaron's smile grew bigger and he took my hand before saying "I'm starving. Are you up for some burgers tonight?"
Liv: "S-sure."
My heart was beating so fast as Aaron and I walked hand in hand toward his car. He opened the passenger door for me and closed the door after I settled in the seat. He walked to the other side and took the driver's seat.
After he did, he leaned over and put the seatbelt on me. Our faces were so close that he only had to lean a few inches for our lips to touch. I froze as we locked eyes. Aaron smiled before he moved away. I must have looked funny.
We stopped at a burger joint. Aaron ordered the food while I waited at the table. I let him choose which food to order since it was my first time going there. It's a fast food joint, but it's more expensive than the typical ones because they have specialty burgers here.
When Aaron arrived, he brought four types of burgers, tons of fries and onion rings, and two big cups of soda. I was overwhelmed by how much food he brought, but he assured me that he could finish at least two of the burgers because of how hungry he was.
He described each burger, and I decided to eat the bacon mushroom burger, with jalapenos and cheesy sauce. I love spicy food and I've never tasted jalapeno before.
The burgers were amazing, and I had to take one of the burgers home because I didn't finish it. I don't think I could eat anymore, but I could give it to my mom.
When Aaron parked in the street near our house, I looked at him and said "Thank you for the burgers. And thank you for coming to see me."
Aaron: "You're welcome. Are you sure you're okay to get off here? Can I walk you to your house?"
Liv: "No, it's fine."
I summoned all my strength and moved forward to give Aaron a kiss on the cheek before saying "Bye. I'll see you tomorrow."
Aaron had a huge smile on his face as I got out of his car. So did I.
