#12 a new kingdom

they had been preparing for whatever battle may possibly happen. they had gained very little intelligence on who the witch was. preparing to travel with Liam to meet his parents in the lycan and wolf territory scarlett was nervous. she knew how important it was for liam to spend time with his family. he would love to know them and she knew this. She wanted to be a support system for him and knowing his family. she was next in line for the throne, which meant now Liam was staying with her to help her rule the snow dragon kingdom. he learned he had an older brother and a twin sister and spending time with them meant everything to Liam. "liam?"

he looked up from his bag. " yes"

" I guess I never really asked if you were alrigh to stay with me and help me rule. I feel like it was just expected of you and I never asked how you felt about it. do you wish you could leave and be with your family?"

" no, my place is by your side. our place is with each other. I won't lie, I want to get to know them and have that bond with them. I want to know them and be around them, but I will always be here with you. Zara said she wanted to come back and spend some time with us. she really wants to get to know me. I still can't believe I have a twin. I have an older brother. I have a family." Scarlett smiled at him but couldn't help wonder if a piece of him wanted to be there with them. he missed a lifetime with them but he was choosing to give all that up for a kingdom that he was never supposed to be with.

" ok dear you both be careful. be safe. let me know you made it. " scarletts parents were there sending them off. Scarlett could hear the worry in her mothers voice. they all knew Liam needed this. he needed to know the life that was taken from him. He had spent so much time wishing he knew this side of himself and now he had the opportunity to find the answers he desperately wanted. everyone was worried about the dangers of an unknown enemy. they knew the witch could attack at any time.

" mother, we will be fine. as soon as we get there you will be the first to know. I promise." she gave both of her parents a hug goodbye and then set off. it was going to be a four day trip. if her parents let her fly they could make it there in mere hours. they were afraid of her flying long distances though. Scarlett had a plan she did not share with her parents.. she waited until they were a few hours away from the palace and turned to Liam. " you know if you grabbed our bags and let me switch, we could fly and be there by nightfall."

" your parents would kill me Scarlett. "

" are you not wanting to see my dragon?" she was taunting him. He knew she was.

" little rose I love seeing your dragon. she is as beautiful as you are."

" then let me shift and you get on with our bags. let me do this liam." she placed a kiss on his nose as she smiled sweetly at him. she knew he would give in to her. " do you not think I can do it?"

" one thing I know about you is that you are definitely capable of anything." he took a deep breath in. she knew he was about to give in. " fine. if we get caught by your parents I'm saying you forced it on me."

she started squealing and clapping her hands. " deal! thank you!" she kissed his nose again as he chuckled shaking his head. " there is a clearing up ahead where I can shift. the guards can shift and fly with us! I'm so excited! she has been dying to get out!"

the clearing was large enough for the dragons to shift one at a time. Scarlett made her way to the center and turned to Liam her excitement oozing from her body, pouring out of her in waves. " little rose bud, shift and I will climb on you. the warriors will bring all of our stuff." she nodded and stepped away. a bright light started to appear and the ground became cold as frost spread across the clearing. it didn't take long for her to switch to her dragon self. she felt a hand running down her side. she looked over seeing Liam running his hand down her scales leaving tingles trailing behind his touch. " you are so beautiful." she kneeled down low allowing him to climb on her back. she huffed out as she began to lift from the ground with no effort. Liam was hanging on tight as she flew high above the landscape waiting for the warriors to follow. her scales glistened in the sun turning an almost translucent white. soon they were all shifted and in the air flying to a world most of them knew nothing about.

the sun had just started to sink down leaving dazzling colors across the sky. the palace loomed in the distance and Scarlett knew it was time to shift soon. she spotted a field close to the palace and she decided to land in it. there was enough space for her to change two at a time. she nodded and the warriors followed suit. a crowd of people had gathered watching them land and shift. Liam slid off Scarlett and kissed her massive forehead before she shifted back to her human self. " you did amazing Scarlett."

Queen Abby and king David were waiting for them to shift. " Liam!" the queen came running over grabbing him in a hug. " oh dear Scarlett! you are so beautiful! we weren't expecting you guys for days!" his mother was so happy Scarlett could feel the excitement flowing.

" Scarlett convinced me to let her fly us. if her parents ask she tied me up mother. " he kissed the back of his mother's hand then turned to his father. " father." he bowed in respect to them.

scarlett stepped beside him and turned to bow to each of his parents showing her respect. " King David, Queen Abby. I figured this way you would have more time with your son. " Scarlett smiled sweetly at them both.

Liam grunted giving Scarlett a kiss on her forehead. " it had nothing to do with how impatient she is."

" Come all of you let's get you set up in your rooms then meet us in the dinner hall! everyone will be so excited! Zara says she feels whole again getting to have her twin back! come come!" his mother swept everyone into the palace as servants began showing the warriors their rooms. " you two have the suite up in the princes' chambers. it has everything you should need." they followed his mother up the stairs. Scarlett looked at the pictures on the wall as she tried to keep up. she stopped at one. it was such a long time ago. a painting in a beautifully carved frame. the frame had crescent moons carved onto each side then at the top a full moon with a wolf looking like it was howling on a cliff. the picture was king David and the entire family. Liam sat next to his sister Zara while his older brother Abraham sat just in front of the king. Zara and Liam had the same dazzling green eyes that Scarlett loved so much. " it's amazing to have them together again. I'm hoping while they are all here we can have another family photo done. this one was done right before Liam was taken. he was just four here. I used to spend so much time just starring at him here. trying to talk to him. we have missed him. I tried to keep going, but it just felt like a part of me had left that day. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to you and your parents for saving him." the queen took scarletts hand in hers. holding it tightly. Scarlett tore her eyes away from the picture to look into her eyes. " I know he will remain with you, but I am still so thankful for you all bringing him back to us. knowing he is alive is everything. it has put my heart at peace. it's a peace I haven't felt in a very long time."

" I wish we could stay longer. apparently I have to start training to be a queen. I thought I had done that my entire life." she shrugged her shoulders a look of disdain on her face. " poor Liam will have to go through training as well. he will be king."

" you both will be an amazing king and queen. trust in each other and rule as equals and everything will fall into place. David and I went through many trials when we met. I was human. not everyone was happy about that. I had Abraham at that time. I didn't have Zara and Liam until after the war of beasts."

" the war of beasts?" scarlett was confused. she had never heard of it.

" it was between wolves and lycans. it was quite some time ago. it's been peaceful since. no wars have come since. come let's get you to your mate." Scarlett couldn't help but feel such love for Abby. " at dinner Abraham and Zara will be here and all my children will be under one roof again. there is much to be celebrate!" Scarlett followed her to Liam who was standing in the door arms crossed.

his eyes were sparkling as he smiled at her. " did you get lost little rose bud?" he reached out pulling her to him as he rested his nose in the crook of her neck breathing her in deeply.

" I was chatting with your mother. we were looking at your family portrait. I had forgotten how plump you were my love!"

" I was not!" Scarlett started laughing as he tickled her sides. " take it back!" she ran past him and into the bathroom. she heard the door shut behind him and light footsteps coming her way. " you can't hide from me. I can smell you." she let out a giggle as his arms wrapped around her pulling her feet up from the floor. Scarlett was lifted over his shoulder.

" not fair! you aren't supposed to cheat!" she giggled. Liam softly laid her down on the bed in their room. She felt the mood change between them. Liam positioned himself above her kissing her neck and trailing up to her mouth his hand traced her side. " liam...."

" I know but you are so beautiful. we better get up and get ready. I can only hold myself back so much when it comes to you." Scarlett brought her lips to his kissing him deeply. they brought their foreheads together as Scarlett closed her eyes taking in that kiss. " I will wait for you forever. I will never pressure you into anything. I love you Scarlett. "

her eyes fluttered open. " you turn nineteen in a week you know."

" well since your birthday is right after maybe we can celebrate together. come on let's get ready." Scarlett felt him shift off the bed. she always felt so cold when he wasn't near here. she made her way to the bathroom to shower. She was letting the water cascade down her body as she was planning something in her head. she was ready for liam but she wanted to wait until their birthdays. she wanted it to be the full moon which landed right on Liams birthday. the biggest gift she could give him was all of her.
