Faint chirping sounds of birds outside woke Llenard up to his slumber. Golden rays of sunshine spread beautiful hues in the Moor. Llenard stretched his arms and legs, a wide smile instantly formed on his face. He pressed the alarm clock off and jump off the bed. He woke up early than usual. He's not usually like this but today is the exception.
He washed his faced and wings, took a clean set of clothes and went out of his room. He's carrying a small bag. It was his first day at school and he will Nico, his new friend. Llenard walks into the kitchen and saw his mother cooking. He sneaked up behind her and suddenly hugged her.
"Oh my! You scared me!" his mother said and smacked him in the shoulder. He chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Hmm, you usually woke up late, what happened today?" his mother wondered while looking at him with her eyebrows raised.
"Nothing in particular, Mom," he said and shrugged his shoulder off, dismissing the topic. He sat on the chair and waited for his mother to finish cooking. Soon after, his father entered the kitchen carrying his little sister who were rubbing her eyes.
"Morning, sleepy head," Llenard greeted. Amaltheia smiled and extended her little hands at him. Llenard took her from his father's arm and put her on his lap.
"Are you ready, Llenard?" his father asked. Amaltheia smiled while playing with his hair. He nodded his head to his father and gave a thumbs up. Llenard saw his father kissed her mother's cheek. His mother giggled while he groaned. It's sweet but it was gross. He covered his little sister's eyes and whistled. His parents laughed and together, they ate their food in silence.
Llenard stood outside the school gate and looked around. Pixies started gathering one by one. Be it alone or a group. He smiled and with his held up high, he entered his new school.
Llenard started searching for Nico as soon as he step inside the gate but he was nowhere to be found. The classes started and ended but he still haven't seen him around. He sighed and decided to go to the cafeteria. He bought his food and drinks and find a vacant spot but there's nothing left. A group of pixies sat on one table and a vacant chair caught his attention. Llenard walked to where they are and cleared his throat.
"Hey, do you mind if I sit here?" he politely asked. The boys shook their heads.
"Go on mate," the boy with a red hair answered.
"Are you new here? You looked unfamiliar to me," A tall blonde boy asked and licked his spoon. Llenard put his try down and nodded his head.
"I am," he replied. Suddenly the boys whistled and cheered. Llenard looked at what they were looking and gulped. It was Nico, ordering his food from the counter.
"Hey Lily boy!" The red hair said and smirked. Llenard saw Nico clenched his fist.
"Why are you calling him that?" he curiously asked. His eyes followed Nico until he sat on a vacant table, all alone.
"That boy is an abomination! He was born from the lily," the blonde guy told him and laughed. Llenard remained silent.
It was a big surprise to him to know that Nico was born from the lily instead of the bluebells. He snapped out of his thoughts when the boys applauded and cheered. Another group came and a girl - their leader, poured a drink on Nico's head. Nico quickly closed his eyes while the sticky liquid was slowly being poured at him. Llenard eyes squinted. Something inside of him rage seeing Nico being bullied. Llenard wanted him to fight back but he was there, rooted on his seat. He couldn't take it anymore and grabbed his drink. He went to Nico's side and poured in on the girl who were blatantly bullying him.
"What the hell are you doing!?" She shouted at him, while wiping the flowing liquid in her brand new dress. Nico opened his eyes and it went by wide when he saw Llenard. Llenard smiled his sweetest smile to the girl. The girls behind her squeaked because who wouldn't? A handsome pixie appeared in front of them.
"Oh, sorry about that, Miss. I thought you were a trash can," Llenard said. The pixies around gasped at what he had said. Amaryllis is fuming in anger. Nose flaring and eyes blazing. She couldn't believe someone would dare fight against her for her brother. The girls behind her murmured.
"Shut up!" she glared at them and they quickly stopped murmuring. "You! Ugh, you will pay for this!" Amaryllis added with a shout and walked out of the cafeteria with her gang following behind. Llenard smiled and crossed his arms. He turned to Nico and sighed. He was wet all over.
"Stand up," Llenard ordered. Nico was confused. He pulled a clean shirt out of his bag and gave to Nico. "Take it and clean yourself," Llenard said. Nico couldn't help but be flustered. He wasn't expecting Llenard to help him. He hesitantly took Llenard's shirt and thank him. The boys on the table were Llenard sat earlier whistled.
"Yo! The lily boy found his knight in shining armor!" The red hair said and laughed. His friends laughed along with him and exchange high fives. Llenard's face darkened, his hands were balled to fist. His lips pursed. He was about to attack them but Nico stopped him.
"Don't mind them. Let's go," he nervously said and pulled Llenard until they're out of the school cafeteria.
"Why'd you let them do that do you?" Llenard shouted. He was upset and at the same time mad. Nico flinched and backed away a little, like a scared little pixie. Llenard blew a loud breath and sighed seeing Nico was about to cry. Despite his mean and cold attitude, Nico is really a crybaby. It was proveb because the first time he saw him he was bawling his eyes out.
"I'm sorry. I'm just upset," Llenard said. Nico sniffed and nodded his head. Llenard accompanied him to the restroom. Nico was against it at first but Llenard insisted. It was his own way of guarding Nico away from those trash.
Nico went out while clutching his bag on his chest. He blushed and bowed his head avoiding Llenard's gaze. It was the first time someone offered to help him. The shirt was a bit bigger because Llenard is tall and had more muscles on him while Nico is thin. Llenard looked at him from head to toe and gulped. Nico is really beautiful. He shook his head.
"No, no, snap out of it," he angrily whispered to himself. Nico looked at him confused.
"Do you still have classes left?" Llenard asked.
"Yes, I still have one," Nico said. Llenard looked at him and smiled. Nico's eyes widened, he knew that smile. Llenard was up to something again!
"No! Whatever it is that you are thinking, I'm out," he said out loud with conviction.
"Come on, Nico!" Llenard said but Nico shook his head. He won't go with him. The first time they met, there were packs of kobolds chasing after them because of a necklace that he stole.
"Okay fine. Tour me around the Moor. I'm not gonna force you just tour me around. Is that okay with you?" Llenard asked him. Nico nodded his head and gave a little smile, it was better than to do something reckless again.
"After you, sir," Llenard jokingly said. Nico glared at him and together they walked to where the room of knowledge is located.
"Who was that?" Llenard asked. Nico looked at him and saw him staring straight ahead. Nico's forehead creased.
"Who?" he asked and put his hand on his pocket.
"The girl who poured a drink on you," Llenard said. Nico heaved a sigh.
"That's my sister, Amaryllis," he said. Amaryllis did it again, he's glad that it was mild this time. Pouring a drink on him when all those pixies looking around. She loves to bully him.
"Why would she even do that you?" Llenard asked him. Nico shrugged his shoulder. He always knew Amaryllis hated his existence. She treated him like a mere toy. An eyesore. But with what everything she's done, Nico couldn't get mad at her. He still love his sister.
"Why won't you fight back?" Llenard asked, he was still a little bit upset. If Nico hadn't stopped him, he was gonna punch that i***t red haired boy for spouting nonsense shits.
"It's useless," he said. "It's gonna bite me back at the end of the day and I will suffer tenfold," he added. They stood in front of the room of knowledge, looking at each other.
"Let me be your friend," Llenard suddenly said. He really wants to be Nico's friend.
"You're gonna put yourself in a hot seat. Aren't you scared of that?" Nico asked him. Llenard laughed, his hands were on his tummy, clutching it tight.
"I'm not scared. I can handle them. So, are we friends?" Llenard asked. Nico slightly pushed him to the side and opened the door. He glanced at him and spoke.
"Friends," Llenard beamed and punch the air with his fist. His attempt on befriending him was a success! He smiled ear to ear and followed Nico inside.
