Chapter 4 : Monster hunter squad

 Kevin, a man who has a secret power within his body, reincarnated back into his 25 year old body, before the monster apocalypse happen. So, with all the knowledge he has about the future, also with the secret weapon that has been hidden under his house, Kevin will fight the monsters and prevent the terrible monster apocalypse event from happening.

 In addition, Kevin also wants to dig deeper the information about his late father, as well as about the dimension rift phenomenon, which is the root cause of the monster apocalypse. And maybe in that investigation, later he will also find out about the reason why he could return to his younger body, or rather to the past. And to be able to get more complete clues, he must be able to find Christa first, a woman he knows in the future. So the search mission began.

 But before doing that, there is another important thing Kevin must do on his first beautiful morning after a long time, namely eating his mother's food. Currently Kevin is sitting at the table while eating every dish that has been cooked by his mother, Kevin eats all the dishes in a hurry as if he has not eaten in years, so that his mother is amazed and shocked to see his son's behavior today.

 "Kevin, are you okay?" Asked his mother.

 "Yes mom, I've never felt this good." Kevin replied while continuing to put food into his mouth.

 "Is something happened to you lately?"

 "A lot mom ... So many." Kevin replied while continuing to eat.

 Kevin can eat a meal that can be consumed by 5 people all by himself. Then his mother just smiled to understand his son's behavior, maybe because last night Kevin just got a girlfriend, or something else happened. At that time, Kevin's mother only thought positive things about her child. Although, what actually happened is, Kevin just came from the future.

 Long story short, after finish eating, next thing Kevin did was, he immediately come to the bunker room which was right under his house. The secret door leading to the bunker room is located in the warehouse, so Kevin's mother thinks that currently her child is cleaning the warehouse, even though currently Kevin is in a secret room, which is a legacy from her husband.

 Inside, Kevin felt very amazed, because now he can find the room before the day of the monster apocalypse. Then without lingering, Kevin approached the vault that was there, and he tried to open the vault door. But the problem is, he forgot the combination number of the vault door, because previously he could find out about the combination number from the number strokes on the wall near the vault, but now there are no scratches at all on the wall near the vault, so it makes Kevin confused at once panic. And even though he tried so hard to remember about the numbers, but he still had trouble and couldn't remember at all. That meant, currently he couldn't get the special weapon that his father passed down to him.

 Then, because he was still curious and wanted to take the weapon inside that vault, Kevin decided to use violence way, namely by hitting it with all his might. With determined and focused, Kevin clenched his fist which he was about to launch hard blow towards the vault door.

 “BUUUUUAAAAKKK !!!

 A hard blow was sent by Kevin to the vault door, but that door didn’t experience a scratch at all, and instead Kevin's injured hand caused him to scream in pain, but he tried to keep his screams voice as small as possible, so Kevin's mother couldn't hear him.

 Kevin assumed that his strength in the future also went along with him to the past, but it wasn't. Because Kevin returned to a time when the power of the monsters that resided in his body had not yet awakened at all, so at this time he did not have super physical strength, good reflexes, or agility in fighting. He had to go back to the beginning when his body was not yet a complete monster killing machine, even though his mind was very ready, but his body condition was not yet supported.

 Then what Kevin have to do to awaken his power? Kevin imagined when he first awakened his powers. That time his power could rise as he witnessed the death of his mother and he had to fight the mouthless monster. But right now he doesn't want that incident to happen again, so Kevin must be able to find another way so that he can awaken the power inside his body, as well as take the special weapon in the vault.

 So back to his main mission for now, first of all he must be able to find Christa's whereabouts. And according to the information he has received from Christa in the future, at this time Christa is active as a monster hunter. The monsters that Christa hunted were monsters that aimed for human lives. Therefore, tonight Kevin must be able to find the monster that Christa will hunt, so that he can meet Christa. Even though it won't be easy to do, Kevin still has to try, and maybe as a bonus, in his quest for that he will be able to awaken his power, so it's the same as drinking water while diving, like proverb.

 In the afternoon Kevin started to leave the house, to start his search mission, but before he left, he did not forget to kiss his mother on the cheek, making her feel surprised and shocked.

 "... Why, not usually." But his mother didn't really care about it and went back to watching television.

Kevin doesn't know about Christa's address, or whereabouts of the monsters that roam freely in this world, but he will still try to find out. Kevin continues to accelerate his motorbike on the streets, he explores every street corner in urban areas, while continuing to pay attention to the atmosphere around him, to be honest Kevin hopes to find and save people who are being attacked by monsters, because it might start his debut as a monster hunters in this era.

 On his motorbike, Kevin finally arrived at the center of the capital. The city where Kevin lives is Briggs city which is the capital of the Unity state. Briggs city has a very large area and a very dense population. Especially in the city center area which is the busiest and full of frenzy population, because the city center is where the economy wheel is spinning, from small to large businesses, everything is there.

 And in midst of the hustle and bustle of the capital city, Kevin was driving while paying attention to everything around him. Kevin looks amazed by the urban atmosphere filled with many people, because Kevin has not felt such an atmosphere for a long time, in the future he find it difficult to meet other humans so he always feels lonely. But now, wherever he looked, he could see humans who were walking on the streets and doing their own business.

 Even Kevin can experience again the feeling of stopping at a red light and waiting for people to cross the road, it makes Kevin smile by himself, he is grateful because he can return to a time where human life is still running normally, but he also won't let his guard down, because even now he is still focused on patrolling and looking for the whereabouts of the monsters in the middle of the city.

 When Kevin's motorbike stopped at several intersections, Kevin saw several large screens showing NeoGen product advertisements to road users. The ad's slogan is, "More efficient energy-saving products.”

 However, Kevin only smiled sarcastically when he saw the advertisement, because he already knew that the energy source of these products came from the horns of the monsters which were extracted into batteries or something like that. The whole citizens doesn't know about it, but maybe only a few people know about it but they are silenced or some have spoken out but they are not trusted by the community. So in the end everything returns to a conspiracy that is overshadowed by the company NeoGen.

 Later, there will be a time for Kevin to investigate further about NeoGen, for now he is having other business. But it seems like he has an idea with regard to NeoGen, because NeoGen must also have a monster hunter squad scattered throughout the cities, so maybe Kevin can follow them to hunt.

Then after searching for hours, Kevin finally managed to find a black minibus in which there were several people in soldier uniforms and full weapons. This of course aroused suspicion in Kevin's mind, so Kevin immediately followed the car from behind.

 Kevin continued to follow wherever the car went, until finally the car stopped in a quiet and dark park area because it was very late at night. There, Kevin tried to keep his distance so that his whereabouts were not known by those who just got out of the car.

 They are a group of men who look tough, with black soldier uniforms, and the weapons they carry. While making preparations near the car, they all looked like people who were about to carry out an hunting actions. Then there was no doubt that they were NeoGen's monster hunting squad.

 There were 6 of them in number, and one of them was a leader who seemed highly feared and respected by the members of the group. The leader had a tall, stocky posture, a stern facial expression, sharp eyes, and short blonde hair. When Kevin was watching him from a distance, the leader was seen giving instructions to his group members.

 Then not long after, they all heard a male scream.

 "Heeeelp !!"

 So with alacrity, the soldiers immediately ran toward the voice asking for help, as did Kevin who was still following them from behind. When they all arrived at the scene, it turned out to be true, a monster gargoyle was strangling a homeless man till he unconscious, near a bushes blocked by a trash can.

Monsters Gargoyle are a type of man-eating monster that often hunts at night, they have physical features in the form of grey skin that is hard like a rock, with green cracks all over their body, and a creepy face with sharp teeth in their mouth. Apart from that, they also had green horns, just like the other monsters that came out from the Dimensions rift.

 But not only that, the Gargoyles also have the ability to transform into human form, so they can live mingling with other humans, they are very difficult to find or detect if they are in human form. But when they are in the form of monsters and emit a killing intention, their presence can be detected by using a special tool.

 The soldiers who had arrived there immediately surrounded and ordered the Gargoyle monster they encountered to release their prey. "Do not move!! Release that man from your grip !! ” Tell the soldier leader.

 "Tch." Said the monster Gargoyle, who was unwilling to let go of its prey from its grip.

 Then after the victim was already in a state of death from suffocation, regardless of the victim's whereabouts, the soldiers started shooting at the monster in succession, using the weapons in their hands that shot dozens of special green bullets towards the monster. But quickly, the monster made the victim's body as a shield, then he immediately ran while dashing and dodging all the shots from the soldiers, the gargoyle monster had an agile and nimble movement so he was able to read the direction of the bullet.

 In an instant, the monster was near the soldiers so that it made them panic, because quickly the monster also gave a claw attack that was able to tear the soldiers' clothes, even the monster also hit and kicked the soldiers until they were blown and injured. They were all overwhelmed even though they only faced one monster.

 But it is different with the leader of the soldiers, he has an ability that cannot be underestimated by the monster, when the two of them fight each other at close range, the leader is able to avoid the monster's attack and then give counter attack to the monster by his kicks, plus a few of precise shot hit the monster's stomach, which caused the monster's body to immediately bounce back.

 But apparently the shot from the special weapon only caused scratches and was unable to pierce through the monster's stomach, because those weapons were not as strong as those made by Kevin's father which had been completely perfected. But still, if it was continuously hit by that shot, the monster's body would be injured and even die. Therefore, after receiving a shot from the soldiers leader, without thinking too long, the monster hurry turned back and fled towards the dark bush.

 The soldiers who saw this did not remain silent, they immediately shot at the monster, but the monster was able to quickly avoid it, so the leader gave orders to his Soldiers.

 "Go! after him !!"

 But suddenly a surprising thing happened, when there was a mysterious man who came out of the bush in front of the monster while holding a thick tree trunk, then the mysterious man immediately swung the tree trunk right at the monster's face, so immediately the monster's run pace stopped because his face was hit by the impact of the wood, which even caused his body to fall backwards then lying on the ground.
