11. His concern!

2100 Words
"Aileen," Jane rushed toward her cousin, dropped beside the goblin. Taking her head in her arms, she cried out, "Ailey, my sister. What happened to you? Please wake up. Please. Don't leave me like this,"  She didn't get any answer from her except for painful grunts that coming from her lips. She patted her cheek, calling her miserably, "Ailey, don't do this to me, please. I can't live without you. Please talk to me," The goblin was sobbing. He got emotional to see his favorite person in that condition. They just met and she was going to leave them! He cried out, "No, no, please, ma'am. Please open your eyes, please." "Why do you want her to live?" The goblin looked at the demoness with tears in his eyes, saw that by then, she came back to her old look, not bruises or blood was there on her. Cosette glared hard and scoffed at him. "You selfish thing. You probably want her to live to save yourself from your master's wrath, isn't it?"  Cameron still didn't move from his place. He kept watching the whole ordeal in astonishment. There was a calmness in him that stated either he didn't care about Aileen or he knew she wasn't truly dead! The goblin's eyes widened. He shook his head in denial, told her truthfully, "I am not that selfish. She is kind and is good to me. I can't take it if something happens to her." He looked at Aileen. "Please, wake up," Jane began crying even more. She couldn't take the goblin's word well.  Her eyes enlarged when she heard her saying, "W-water,"  Before she could stand up, the goblin hurriedly ran inside the kitchen and then returned with a glass of water. Jane took that from his hand and made her cousin drink the water slowly.  "How are you feeling now? And happened with you? You look horrible to me, Ailey," Jane scolded her, but Aileen only gave her painful groans. She was too weak to sit or speak to anyone. Jane looked at Cosette, asked her, "Can you at least tell me what happened with her? Why is she look so broken?"  "I needed to be harsh on her, Jane," Cosette sighed helplessly. "She was not ready to leave the field. So, to stop her, I had to use all my power to defeat her. It wasn't easy, but anyway- she was in a lack of energy and - yes, here we are." Jane looked stunned. Cosette popped on the couch and closed her eyes.  "She is just a human, Cosette," Jane was enraged. Eyeing Aileen's wound that the goblin was treating in caution, she hissed, "She is bleeding badly. She has no supernatural power, yet you didn't show any me- "  Cosette interrupted, "I didn't give any wound to her, Jane. She got those from her demons. I am not her demon, get it?" She looked at her pointedly. "Give her a warm bath and she will be fine by tonight,"  Seeing Cosette leaving her seat, Jane asked her, "Where are you leaving now?"  "I will be back soon. Cameron, you may leave now. And you- " Looking at the goblin, Cosette said, " - come with me." She didn't wait there anymore and left that cottage immediately and Cameron followed behind.  Jane didn't ask anything and decided to treat her sister in their room. Aileen was half-conscious.  So, Jane didn't need to struggle with her much. After the shower, she made Aileen wear a robe and left to bring a warm soup for her. Jane was dying to know what happened there and what was bothering her sister lately. While feeding the soup, she asked, "Did someone hurt you? Please don't hide it from me," Aileen felt much better after the shower and having her favorite soup from her cousin's hand. She was a bit emotional as that scene was reminding of Jane's mother who used to treat her affectionately.  Gulping down the soup, Aileen said, "I am missing them," Jane's eyes welled up knowing to whom her sister was talking about. She was never an emotional one. But she couldn't hide her pain in her tone.  "H-he told me I'm shameless." Jane's eyes darkened. She held her bowl firmly and stared at Aileen keenly.  "Who told you this?" Jane's voice was sharp, but Aileen couldn't listen to that.  She was lost in her own world. Medicines were affecting her nerves that were no longer in her control.  Remembering the person she once loved with everything, she said giving a sad smile to her, "He also didn't care about me, Jenny. Why did he leave me? He didn't even look back at me before leaving. Why?"  Jane's heart clenched in pain when she said, "Does he remember me, Jane, just the way I remember him?" She held Jane's hand, cried in bitterness, "Even if he comes back to me, he will hate me, Jane. I- " Aileen began recalling the sinful moment she shared with Keiran, told to Jane, " - cheated on him with someone," "What? Aileen, what did you say?" Jane shook Aileen, but she didn't answer. She looked lost. It was like she wasn't there. Jane rubbed Aileen's head soothingly, telling her, "It is okay. I don't know what you did, but mistakes can be done by anyone. We are young after all. Do you remember what dad used to tell us?"  Aileen looked at her frowning. Jane told her, "Never ashamed of yourself. If you do a mistake, rectify it instead of wasting your time in crying over things and counting your regrets." Her expression changed. Patting her head, she said, "Now take a rest, Ailey. From tomorrow everything will change. We are not going to fear anyone or allow anyone to disrespect us." Aileen smiled. Her sister's words did something within her. She was not going to back down. Now that Jane is with her, she can defeat anyone in a blink. ~ ~ ~    Meanwhile, after leaving the cottage, the trio went somewhere a little far from that place.  Cosette was standing in an empty place near the forest. The snow was falling, but that couldn't block the view from her sharp gaze. Beside her there was standing Cameron and the goblin, waiting for someone's arrival. The goblin tightened his shawl around him as the cold wind hitting him brutally.  "Will they come here?" Cameron glanced beside him to Cosette, who stood there all stiff and composed.  "They must," Her voice sent a chill down his spine. It sounded like she would call a war anytime.  Just then, they heard a rustling sound coming from the forest, and all of their focus shifted toward the direction and stood there in a defensive mode. Their eyes were pitch black with rage. The goblin's eyes color changed, ready to use his dark magic to those who would come their way to attack them.  In a blink of an eye, six vampire soldiers circled the trio and the three vampire princes stood in front of them. Their eyes were red, coldness was radiating from them. The demon and demoness didn't back down and even the goblin didn't look scared of them even when he has been serving their family for ages. "Finally you show your true color to us," Keiran glanced at Cosette coldly. "We thought you will wait till the ceremony. But I see you are in a hurry, don't you?" He took out a threatening note that she sent to him and tore that before throwing that on her face. "You can't do anything to my people as long as I am alive,"  Knox didn't show anything to anyone of them. But Karter did.  He gazed at Cameron coldly, seeing him standing so close to Cosette. "Why did you send the message to the Kingdom? We can't see your army here. Where are they? Did you lie to us?" His jaw sharpened in rage. "You have a brain, I see." Cosette looked at him mockingly. "You are right. I don't have any intention in attack your Kingdom unless - " She shifted her gaze back to Keiran, told him, " - you cross your limit,"  Keiran's eyes sharpened. Before he could say anything, Cosette told him firmly, "I don't have time to waste in nonsense talks of yours. I am here to warn you to stay away from the girls. They are not your enemy unless you make them one. But trust me, they have lots of things going on in their life and they can't even use their spare time to go and make things clear with you all. So, you better focus on others instead of the innocent ones. If you hurt them again, I will not warn you before attacking you and your people."  With the last warning, she gave them in their way, Cosette left that place with the goblin and Cameron, leaving the princes all dumbfounded and confused at her threats. Hurt them...? Keiran frowned at that.  He asked coldly, "Did anyone of us attack them?" Knox didn't hear anything like that from their force.  Karter told him, "No, but did you two personally went to torment the girls in her home?"  Keiran and Knox didn't deny it or agree with it.  By their expression, Karter knew that they did. He sighed, telling them, "A spy is going to bring information about them tonight. We better wait before sending them to prison in our Kingdom." Keiran didn't say anything for a while. He was in deep thought. For some reason, his heart was getting impatient.  A voice back in his head was telling him to go and see her for once. But why? She shouldn't be his concern, right? She was nothing but a commoner, who has a face and body that only react to his touch.  Everyone left for the castle except for him. He stayed there in the wood, excusing himself that he has things to do. They didn't say anything as no one has the right to question the future king.  Later the night when everything fell silent and the snow fell increased in their land, Keiran moved toward the cottage and looked at the window of Aileen's room keenly. A faint light illuminated the whole room.  He moved closer, careful enough to avoid with the spell and the garlic, crosses there hanging from the corner. The witch and demoness did a great job in keeping the evil supernatural from their home.  But Keiran was least bother about it. He can handle it of being a pureblood, immortal. He closed his eyes for a while and opened them to see himself standing in Aileen's room. From afar, she looked fine to him.  As soon as he began walking toward her, he froze to see bruises on her skin. He could smell a faint smell of blood coming from her. His eyes searched for it and saw blood leaking from her bandaged hand.  He immediately walked toward her and held her hand to see how she cut that so deeply. Did she try to take her life for that incident? His eyes reddened. He was so angry that his fangs were largening.  Pathetic human! Is this how you gonna fight me?  His eyes searched for the medical box and he found that was on the dressing table.  The time he was busy changing her dressing, her blood touched his fingertips, and- he felt a foreign sensation passed through his body. He wanted to taste her blood, but he resisted himself from doing that if when she was smelling delicious. Aileen stirred a little and winced in pain.  He saw her eyes half-opened and those landed on him. "Who are you?"  Her voice sounded meek and low. He knew she was not in her senses and must be still in drugs that she didn't have the energy to ask him, let alone see him keenly before lashing on him.  Everything looked fine to him, except for him getting the smell again. It was strong. He looked over her impatiently and shoved the duvet aside from her. The smell was strong, and that was coming from her stomach. Without thinking much, he loosened the knot of her robe and instantly regretted doing that.  She was naked! A strong desire rushed to him that instantly disappeared when his eyes fell on the bruises and cuts near her chest and stomach. The bandage was soaked with her blood.  "How the hell did you get these?" He seethed to her.
