Tasha’s P.O.V I sat working in my office when Charles came in looking stressed out. I quickly walked up to him and greeted him warmly. He hugged me quick, pecking my cheeks. As we sat in the office discussing about the work and the new project that was already started, I mean the roadmap was set and was going through finalization; I couldn’t help but ask why he looked a bit upset. Sighing loudly he looked to his left and said, “I am worried about Damien. He isn’t been what he was long ago.” I waited for him to explain more but he didn’t. “Charles, what are you talking about?” “Well my child, Damien was a grumpy person before you came but I like it when he seems to be relaxed and smiling. Not to mention, that is happening quite frequently and it is evident as to why. Your presence has affected him much and I think maybe you will help him being his old self.” He looked at me hopefully as I averted my gaze being nervous. “I am not pressurising you Tasha. It’s just that my son has his own issues and being a father I am worried about him. I hope that you can actually work close to him in his personal life too. Just like what friends do you know? Though, I won’t mind you being his girlfriend. (Chuckling) but there is still something he isn’t able to work out and I want you to help him.” He stared at me and held my hands in his. “Charles, it’s not that easy. I will try though but I can’t make any promise.” I told him as a matter-of-factly. “I am so glad you agreed Tasha. The thing is maybe you guys haven’t figured out it yet; but you already share an attraction towards each other.” He winked at me as I lowered my eyes shyly. -I wish that was true, but he doesn’t know yet that Damien is far away from the feelings he just mentioned.- “By the way, were you able to talk to him about the position?” I asked changing the topic. “Well about that... I am sorry but I couldn’t. Things got a little... (Pause) carried away. Next time I will surely do that.” He said reassuring me. I hope that is true. The truth should be told as soon as possible or I may hurt him badly. The guilt was building up each day. After a short while when Charles left the company; I headed to see Leina. I remember how she was angry. I headed to the elevators and pressed the 14th button. Ding! I hurriedly stepped out and started looking for Kate and Lei. But, I felt people gazing at me; some with admiration that were only few in numbers; others with hatred and disgust. I tried ignoring them and finally found my friends. Leina and Katie were in their own discussion and went silent when I reached them. Leina was sulking and Kate was calm as usual. “Hey...” I breathed out. They looked up at me and gave me a hug. I looked at Leina and asked her if she was okay. “Of course I am. Why did you ask?” Leina said looking everywhere but me. I sat beside her and exhaled. Taking her hands in mine, I looked at her and then at Katie. “Lei... I know you are thinking maybe I am hiding about Damien and me but the truth is there isn’t anything going on between us. It is a deal we are following to keep someone away and am sorry I can’t tell you all the details because it is not my place to talk about.” She relaxed as she looked into my eyes. “Then why are you hurt?” she asked me a little hurt herself. “Well, to be honest, it might be normal for him but he has awakened feelings in me and I know he cannot return them but yet I cannot escape the deal half way without helping him. That’s what is hurting me but I promise I will be through it.” I gave them a weak smile as Katie rubbed my back and Leina squeezed my hands smiling back at me. They hugged me again and whispered that they loved me and were proud of me. -Does Leina love him...? Maybe I am just being paranoid. Anyways, It feels good knowing I have people who love me.- I then decided to go see Damien as I remembered him going out. I went to the CEO office but he still wasn’t available and before I could have made a call to know his whereabouts, I met Ben Menon. “Hello beautiful! You seem to be too busy nowadays. How about a coffee break?” he said a little shy while rubbing his neck with one hand. I stifled a laugh and nodded in agreement. We went to cafeteria as the day’s incident flashed my mind reddening my ear. “Excuse me... are you blushing?” Ben asked amusingly. “Oh no. you must be thinking differently. It’s just that I remembered something.” “By the way, how’s work going on?” I quickly changed the subject. Then we were lost in our own conversation as I realized he is a cool guy. He has an elder brother and only his dad in the family and he too wants to be an entrepreneur. It was easy to strike up a conversation with him and I dunno but felt he was interested in me which again made me want to laugh out loud because he was younger than me. After some time, we said farewell and before leaving for the house, I decided to check on him again. Damien was still out so I left him a message asking where he was. I found it a bit awkward so deleted it as soon as I sent it. *** I decided to rest but fell asleep early. I felt my windows being tapped again and again, that was weird because I latched it properly. It was shut tight and there wasn’t any storm outside. Then, I heard my door being opened as I turned to my left thinking it must be Edward but didn’t see anyone walk in. Now, I was curious to see what is happening. Just as I stood up from my bed I heard a dog howl beneath my window as if in pain and it almost gave me a cardiac arrest as I jumped back on my bed and put my hands on my chest trying to calm me. I would say it was shitty scary as I never had this experience here. The window tapped again and I yelled, “Who the hell is it? I swear to god I am gonna kill you.” “May I come in?” a male voice surrounded me. The voice was in a bit weird intonation. “Who are you?” I repeated again but a little calmer. “You would know my child, now may I come in so we can chat a bit?” the voice came back. -‘Shouldn’t he be knocking the front door rather than the window? Just say a no! He might be a killer. Then he wouldn’t have asked the permission don’t you think?- Another part of my brain said.’- “It’s cold outside, will you allow me to come in?” that voice came urging. I know I was stupid because I never thought how can a person be tapping my window at this time when I clearly lived at the fifth floor? But it never occurred to me at that time as I blurted out. “Okay you may come in.” I waited for someone to open the window but none came. Then I heard some voice downstairs as I went to open the front door and there stood a man in his early 40s as he smiled so brightly at me. I looked at him in awestruck. He was so damn handsome. He had hair done into samurai bun with a drop fade and looked hot with the emerald eyes and long pointed and sharp nose with a little depression at the tip. Clean shaved and heart shaped red lips with a smooth glowing skin. He had a well built body and was about 6 feet, dressed in a suit that was black with black loafers; he leaned against my door wall. I just stood there looking at him when he knocked the door again raising his eyebrows at me which were so well groomed and trimmed. “Yes please come in.” I stood aside to let him in as he swiftly went inside and laughed. “How art thee mine own imp? 'Tis been so long to hast seen thee. Finally!” he said as his shoulders relaxed and he grabbed me by my shoulders looking me from head to toe with admiration. His hands were so cold that I shivered and he may have noticed it as he quickly took them off and looked a little hurt. “Sorry, but I don’t remember seeing you ever before.” I looked at him confusingly. “And to be honest, could you please speak in modern English? It’s a bit difficult for me to understand what ya say.” He smiled again and straightened his suit. “Of course! Of course, why not my child? You see, old habits are hard to die. (Chuckling) I am glad that you are doing just fine. You may not remember me but I can never forget you.” He watched me with genuine smile as he stood with his hands behind his back in a straight posture. His chin pointed upward as he stood, giving out a noble and royal aura. “Well thank you. What is your name sir, if you may not mind me asking.” I saw and could see years of disciple in him as he didn’t budge from his place and didn’t even blink his eyes once. He must be a man of self-control. He looked unpleasant hearing it but quickly hid it. “Haaa... I am known as the Master as I rule my own kingdom!” -Wicked! No doubt why, he looked so noble. He has his freaking kingdom. That’s so cool.’- I might be gawking at him with admiration as he nodded at me and gave me a full smile. “I am pleased that you look impressed but I will have to go now. Hopefully, we would meet again.” I was startled to hear him. Is he leaving that soon? He came to visit me that was all? I think there’s a catch. “Excuse me sir. You didn’t clearly mention how you know me?” I waited for his answer. “So eager, are we?” He laughed and I saw how his lips turned upward in a curve. The upper lip rose to his gum as the maxillary teeth grew long as fangs and his eyes turned pitch black. I was shocked to see that, then he floated towards me and just as he was about to touch me I closed my eyes and screamed. I woke up with a jerk to see around finding my cell phone ringing beside me as I lay on my bed. -Gosh! It was a dream.- I breathed in relief and picked up my call. “Hello...” I was feeling parch from the nightmare. “Heyyyyy.... Ta-sha. I am sowiee baby; I’m sowiee that I let you fall for me. But guess what? No? Okay I will tell you a secret. But shhhhh.... don’t tell it to anyone. I think ima... ah-ah-ah..! Not just like that.” I heard Damien’s voice in a slur. Clearly he was drunk. “Damien... you are drunk? Where are you? Are you okay?” I was worried knowing that he had been drinking for long and there might be something that upset him. “Ta-(huffing) I am... in an... alley... closer... office... suffocated...” I heard him sounding stressed as if trying hard to breathe. Then there was a silence as I rushed to grab a jacket and my keys and headed to my car to look for him. “C’mmon, wreck your brain. Bar near office and an alley... where can he be?” I was desperately trying to figure out as I panicked at the fact that he was suffocating. The same alley... I went still hearing it. Can that be true? I remembered the night when I went out to have dinner with Edward during my hospitalization after accident. I went to the alley as I felt been chocked to death. -Shey! He might be killed. No, No, No, No...- I hit the gas pedal as I made the 20 minutes distance into 10 minutes. Opening the car door and rushing straight outside, I started looking for the alley. After running of five minutes I entered one but didn’t see anything there. The air was thick and I could smell his cologne- Woody Floral Musk and called him out. A little later, I saw him appearing from the darkness as I rushed to him and soothed him. I was glad to see him alive and I knew how he felt at that moment because I had been through it. I realized I loved him and I cannot afford to lose him in any way. I kept looking at his eyes and saw love in them and my heart cried happily. The Fate will be sad and sorrowful... I froze hearing those words... Seeing back in the farthest corner I saw a woman in her thirties dressed in green French eighteenth century dress. With long raven hair and brown eyes, she looked at me pitifully and then disappeared in the darkness all of a sudden.
