Chapter 73

Gabriel was lost in despair hearing Maria talking about Dawn's plan already underway. He wished he had stopped it, he also wished he told everyone about it on time.

It seems like nothing could be done at the moment, but he had a resolve to inform everyone about it still.

He begged Maria to free his hands from the cuffs so he could go say something at least, his piece of information could help the situation. But Maria couldn't free him from the cuffs, it's only Joe that can uncuff him. Then he pleaded on her to get Veronica for him, only Veronica can talk to Joe to take away the cuffs. Maria agreed to bring Veronica to him.

Few hours later, Veronica came into the hospital ward with Maria. She was shocked and so excited to meet Gabriel awoken from a really long time coma. She immediately rushed to hug him on the bed, as she cried a bit.

"I've missed you Gabriel, I thought you would never get up. Do you know how long I've been waiting for you?" Veronica said holding his face with both her hands and looking straight into his face helplessly and innocently.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know I slept that long. Well, you don't have to miss me anymore." Gabriel said smiling as he held her right hand with his left uncuffed hand.

"Can you tell me what has gone wrong in my absence? Because I have a lot of things I wanted to tell everyone before I was shot by my elder brother." Gabriel asked.

Veronica was angrily shocked hearing that Gabriel was shot by his brother. She wished she could just go to the underworld and kill him for denying her of Gabriel's love and attention for more than a year.

She had to hold back her anger knowing there was a pending problem to be settled, the confusion in both worlds. She sat still telling Gabriel everything that had gone down in the past one year and three months he wasn't awake.

Few months after Gabriel was shot by his elder brother, that is a year ago from the present day. Elizabeth's squad had already started it operations, she named her squad the Kill Squad.

Elizabeth's main aim of creating this squad of soldiers mixed with werewolves and human was simply to bring harmony and stronger bonding with both species. The feeling of safety and genuine friendship a human get being rescued by a werewolf without the fear of being killed and vice versa, that was Elizabeth's goal.

But situations and outcome took another direction for Elizabeth with the joining of Irwin in her squad.

Irwin started his mischief and evil by planting the seed of discord in the hearts of Elizabeth and other members of the Kill Squad.

It all started by Irwin intentionally inflicting injuries on himself and accusing Joe and the Light Gang for trying to kill him for nothing.

He went as far as telling Elizabeth that Joe had confronted a lot of times telling him that the presence of the Kill Squad are causing unnecessary competition for him and he would do anything to end the existence of the Kill Squad. This were all lies, but gullible Elizabeth believed Irwin lies about Joe which lead to fight between both camps.

Meanwhile, while all these were happening in the human world, at least two werewolves would be mysteriously found dead almost everyday. Some people in the ranks of government and the night rangers would accuse the humans blaming it the incontrollable influx of humans into their world.

This lead to the Night Rangers clashing with visiting humans into their world. Joe's men were not left out as his men were also fighting for supremacy on world power.

All these misunderstandings and arguments between security outfits were really heart wrecking, this was even worse with the fights between ordinary humans and ordinary werewolves, any human or werewolf started hating on the other specie and would use the slightest opportunity to get at themselves.

Gabriel was so shocked hearing all these. The world have finally been thrown into anarchy and doom caused by the first child of Lord Zane.

He then, tells Veronica to get Gabriel to loosen the cuffs on his right hand. Immediately, Veronica left the room to get Joe to free him as Gabriel had earlier camplained about his inability to move.

After a while, Veronica came back to the hospital, panting and crying.

"What's the issue? Veronica." Maria asked looking worried about Veronica's friends.

"Joe's and Elizabeth's men are at it again. I can't to talk to Joe. What are we going to do now?" Veronica said sobbing and breathing heavily.

"I don't know, but I can't sit and do nothing about the whole mess my brother has cost." Gabriel said looking so frustrated.

All three looked so confused and helpless.

Meanwhile, at the werewolf world, Valerie had been trying to talk to Elizabeth and Joe to set up a security meeting to resolve the current crisis between both species, but she couldn't get through to them.

To Valerie, It was like a devil is in their midst, making sure nothing works out as planned.

At the underworld, a year back, Dawn got the scolding of his life from his father for going to the human world without his permission. And not just that, getting himself almost killed again.

But what Lord Zane didn't know was the fact that Dawn had gone to kill his younger brother, Gabriel. Dawn also wanted to keep this to himself without his father ever knowing. And even when his father finds out Gabriel is dead, Dawn plans to just but the blames on the humans or the werewolves.

Dawn never thought he would go as far as killing his younger brother, his father's favorite child. He also wished his father never finds out or get to know he shot his brother with a silver bullet.

Meanwhile, Dawn was also cautioned never to go into any battle again. His previous bullet wounds hasn't healed properly now another one. His father also got furious knowing he was taking all blood from the castle's blood bank, all because he wants to heal.
