Alex got tired of knocking, realizing that Valerie ain't ready to open up anytime soon. He went closer to Lucinda to know if she was awoken by all their noise. He was relieved seeing that Lucinda was still fast asleep.
But, on the contrary, Lucinda was fully awake. She heard all that went down, all because of her presence in their house. She decided to use this disagreement between them to get to Valerie as she had her plans already mapped out in her head.
Alex sadly went to the room he shared with Valerie to sleep.
Almost 8:00am the next morning, Valerie just woke up realizing she was in the other room as she tried to touch Alex who wasn't there with her, still on her sleepy eyes.
She immediately stood up remembering all that happened very early that morning between her and her man, Alex. She felt guilty for not allowing Alex explain the situation to him, atleast, she didn't catch doing anything that could hurt her or their relationship.
Valerie decided to give Alex the chance to explain himself and why the lady slept at their house. She went out of the room to the living room to find Alex giving the lady a passionate hug.
"Thank you so much, I don't know what I could've done without you. Thanks for being caring, thank you for coming into my life when I needed you the most." Lucinda said showing her gratitude for Alex's help as she hugged him.
This got Valerie really mad, she wanted to attack them immediately, forgetting she wanted to give Alex a chance to explain himself. Suddenly, she heard the strange lady call her by name, which stopped her from attacking them.
"Valerie! Nice to meet you again. You remember me? I'm Lucy, we met at the bonfire night some days ago." Lucinda said as she immediately stopped hugging Alex.
"I can't remember... Oh, I remember now. So what are you doing in my house?" Valerie replied rudely.
Alex wanted to explain but Lucinda was fast enough to start talking as she interrupted Alex from talking.
"I met him on his way home. He helped me a lot yesterday, he is my hero and my prince in shining armor. And I'm grateful he came into my life when I needed him the most." Lucinda said in a maliciously sweet manner.
"Oh, are you the partner he talked about? I'm so sorry for sleeping in your house if that caused any inconvenience to you, Valerie." Lucinda said still acting all cute and sweet.
Valerie and Alex were really speechless at this point as Lucinda walked up to Valerie.
"Valerie, can I stay at least, a week in your house before I get a place of my own. I'm a homeless girl, please don't send me out in the cold." Lucinda pleaded looking so pitiful.
Valerie was confused at this point, she didn't know what to do. She didn't like her as she felt so insecure seeing her with Alex. And she didn't want to send homeless girl out in the cold.
"I'll only agree to this only on some conditions. Stay away from my man, and please after a week be gone." Valerie said.
Lucinda agreed to stay away from Alex and be out of their house in less than a week.
Valerie immediately took Alex out of the house to have a talk with him.
"Why didn't you say she was homeless?" Valerie asked Alex.
"You didn't give me a chance to, that's what I was trying to tell you early this morning." Alex said looking so frustrated.
"I'm sorry for all I said to you yesterday. All I'm doing is to protect you, all I'm asking is that you don't misunderstand my intentions." Valerie said.
"That is what hurts me, you still think of me as a weakling incapable of protecting myself and that's not fair Valerie, that isn't fair." Alex said
"Please, let's not go on about this again. Alex please just understand me for once." Valerie said as she tried to hug Alex
Alex immediately stopped her from hugging him.
"You still don't get it. I need you, I need your attention, I want to be part of your life, don't keep me in the dark. Once you can understand me then, I'm surely going to understand you." Alex said as he walked out on her as he made his way back into the house.
Valerie stood there looking confused on what to do. She wished Alex could understand her, she wasn't keeping him out because he can't protect himself, she is doing because she doesn't want him getting killed because of her.
This period isn't one of those normal times were anyone could be careless about their lives. These are critical times and all hands must be on deck to secure all lives and properties. This was the precautionary measure Valerie was taking on the love of her life, Alex.
She loves Alex so much that she doesn't want a scratch on him no matter what. But, she is being misunderstood by the same person she is trying to protect and this was frustrating Valerie a lot.
She went to house after Alex, minutes later. Lucinda was getting herself ready to go hunting for meat. Alex volunteered to join her as that day was a work free day for him.
This also frustrated Valerie, she wanted to join them. But she has to meet up Joe and Gabriel as they had planned to meet today. She turned down the request of Alex to join them.
"As well, you will always turn it down. I'm already used to it in a very sad and heartbreaking way." Alex said looking pitifully disappointed and embarrassed.
"I'm so sorry Alex. I've to meet some people today, I promise to join another time." Valerie said looking down and frustrated for not being able to join Alex.
"No need apologizing. Lucy let's go." Alex said as he grabbed Lucinda by her hands and walked out of the house. The sight of this broke Valerie's heart but her mind was still made up, going to meet Joe and Gabriel.
