Alex offered to help her as he decided to take her to his house to feed her.
On a very cold evening, Alex had gone out to do the groceries. On his way back he pondered on the constant issues he had with Valerie.
She has started doing what he had already told her to stop doing, that is, looking down on him and keeping him under the radar of things going on in her life.
He felt that the only reason he joined in taking down the crossbreeds after the security meeting was because he was aware of it by chance, if not, Valerie wouldn't have involved him.
He feels Valerie is doing too much too protect him. He could feel a drift between them, and how Valerie is less concerned about it.
He sometimes wished he could stop her fighting for everyone against the underworld already. He also wanted a child like the Penfield's, he wanted to be a father like Michael but couldn't because Valerie thinks getting pregnant would slow her down in battle.
Alex could feel that Valerie's feelings were going down and was more interested in protecting the merged world. He has to secretly follow her around just to know where and what she's up to.
This was getting a toll on Alex, he was beginning to get frustrated about everything as he walked back home alone. his lonely at times like this also added to his worries, Valerie doesn't show concern to him or what happens at home. He has to do the groceries and take care of the house all alone, something they did together before.
It was on his way back he back, he met Lucinda lying on the cold bare ground out in the freezing cold of that evening.
Few hours ago from the moment of Lucinda being found by Alex, Lord Zane had ordered his daughter to make a move that day our else, would never get an opportunity to do so.
Their plan was to first get in to the heads and private space of Alex and Valerie before they activate the spell.
As Alex took her home to feed her, she also asked that Alex take her in as a house guest as she has nowhere to stay, or else, she would be out in the cold again. She needed a place to sleep that night. Alex told her he has to talk his partner first partner first before they take her in.
It was really getting late, Valerie wasn't looking like one to come back anytime soon, and he couldn't send homeless Lucy out to dangerous cold and dark night. He was confused as to what to do.
"Lucy, oh you're sleeping already." Alex said to Lucinda already sleeping on the couch in the living room.
"Oh sorry, I'm sorry I slept off. Is your partner back?" Lucinda asked as she woke looking so tired.
"No, she isn't back yet. I'm still waiting for her return." Alex said.
"Oh, okay. I guess I have to start going, I don't want her to see me here. She might not be happy seeing me here like this." Lucinda said as she stood up to leave the house.
"No, Lucy, you can stay the night. I can't let you out in the cold. It's going to hurt my conscience. Don't worry about my partner, I'll talk to her when gets back." Alex said stopping her from leaving his house.
Lucinda took her position back at the couch as she tries to sleep again after thanking Alex for his kind gesture.
Alex went to get a quilt to cover her and keep her warm from the cold. As he went to the living room, Lucinda was already fast asleep. He had to cover her by himself. He spread out the quilt and laying it all over cold Lucinda, making sure all her body were properly covered under the quilt leaving out only her head.
Few hours later, late in the middle of night. Valerie came back, knocking at the door as Alex went to open it for her. Alex stayed up all night waiting for her just like he does every other night she comes back late.
There was a sudden change in Valerie's mood as she saw a strange girl in their house. He immediately asked Alex who she was and why she was sleeping the night at their house.
Alex took her to their room to avoid waking Lucinda up.
As they got to their room, Valerie was getting angry and almost accusing Alex of cheating on him. Alex tried to explain everything to her but she wasn't giving him time to do so as she would always interrupt him saying mean things to him. He couldn't hold his cool anymore as he yelled at Valerie.
"Shut the f**k up! Valerie! I should be more angry. You don't gimme attention anymore, you walk out and come in anytime you want without leaving a word for me. You take decisions without involving me. I'm more or less nothing to you." Alex said angrily on top of his voice.
"Is that enough reason for you to bring in another woman to our house? Even if I hurt that much, is enough for you to start cheating on me, in our house?" Valerie said as tears rolled down her eyes.
"I've never neglected you, I'm in fact trying to protect you by keeping you away from my problems. But all I get is being misjudged and misunderstood. That's isn't enough, you went to bring a lady into our house to stay to this late." Valerie said while she continued to shed tears, her fair face began to turn red.
"You're the misunderstanding one, I'm trying to explain why she is here this late. She..."
"Don't worry, I'll take the other room tonight. I don't feel like talking to you anymore. You can go be your mistress." Valerie said walking out of the room afterwards as she rudely interrupted Alex who was trying to explain the situation to her.
Valerie angrily walked out on him, she left for the second bedroom in their house. Alex followed her to but she was too fast as she shut the door behind her, stopping Alex from entering.
Alex knocked severally at the door begging Valerie to open up, but she wasn't opening. She just laid quiet on the bed covering herself with a blanket.
