CHAPTER 2: CALL ME WHEN YOU GET HOME.
Will he find it weird? Or not.
Either way, the chips said to call, so I'd do just that.
"What's up Olly." His voice booms in my year as soon as he picks up.
My heart might just explode at this rate. What do I say?
What do I say?
I can't believe I'm turning into a nervous wreck just because I'm speaking to my friend.
"I'm good how are you doing? Why are you still up this late?" I ask him and I do not realize I was stuttering until he mentions it.
He is so attentive and I really do not understand why Grace doesn't see it.
All she ever does is pick at him for things he doesn't do.
But can't she see how perfect he is already?!
"Geez, Olivia, are you okay? Did you catch a cold?" He asks with concern laced in his voice.
"Did I catch a cold? What do you mean, is this another one of your jokes?" I ask in as I relax into the comfort of my pillow and water bed.
"Yes, you were stumbling on your words," he says and I can't help but chuckle out, because I fear that he would hear the way my heart is beating.
*I don't have a cold but I just recovered from one.* I want to tell him, but that would lead him to asking questions and as much as I want him to be concerned about me too, it's still too personal to share the cause of my cold.
"Ohh, it's nothing. How about you, what were you doing?" I ask him as I pick one of the chips in front of me and chew on it.
"Nothing much honestly, I was just thinking about…" I don't let him finish his sentence because I know what's at the end of it.
"Grace uhn?" I ask him and I can imagine him nod, because he goes silent for a minute before replying yes.
"I was also thinking about you though." He adds in a solemn voice and my heart starts beating really fast again.
At this rate, I fear I might just have an heart attack.
"Uhn, why are you cracking such an expensive joke this late at night, Rolland." I tell him.
I bet he can hear the disbelief from my voice even though I wish to believe him.
Because why, just why will he say such a thing.
Doesn't he know how crazy I could go because of that?
"Yes Olly, I'm for real." He says, sounding positive and sure of himself.
And there he goes again, calling me that name.
A name that only he calls me.
Rolland gave me the nickname about a year ago when I went as a third wheeler on one of their movie dates.
The female lead happened to be my name sake, but the male lead always called her Olly because he was secretly in love with her.
It was a name on a lot of the audience's tongue by the end of the movie and Rolland said that was his favourite character.
But everytime he calls me that name, I can't help but think that maybe, just maybe he is secretly in love with me like the male lead of that movie.
"Are you still there?" Rolland asked.
"You seem to be zoning out lately. I can't wait to see you tomorrow for a mini therapy session. You need it."
He said, and as much as I'm excited that he is coming back tomorrow, I can't help but hang unto the fact that he said he was thinking about me.
"Yes I'm here, see you tomorrow." I tell him and hang up immediately.
Who does he think he is to play with my heart like this.
I like him, yes!
But he is in love with my best friend, I could in fact say it was almost an obsession.
But sadly, something that isn't reciprocated in the slightest.
My head is pounding with the number of thoughts swirling in them.
Plus he is coming tomorrow.
I'm so excited.
"I can't wait to see you too." I whisper into my pillow.
And without a care in the world, I completely ignore the chips on my duvet, turn to my side and hug my pillow even tighter.
"Good night Rolland."
Rollands POV
Did I say anything wrong or is there something she is mad at?
Olivia's mood swings could be really cute.
I'd just text her.
*I was really thinking about you. Why did you hang up by the way, did I say something wrong?*
I text her and await her reply but I realize the text wasn't even delivered to her.
She's probably asleep.
And suddenly, I feel like I can sleep well too.
Talking to Olivia has always been therapeutic for me.
"Good night Olivia, good night grace." I clap my hands twice so the lights go off.
And shortly after, my eyelids begin to drop.
School resumes tomorrow, I can't wait. But is it for Olivia or Grace.
It definitely isn't the both of them, that I'm sure of.
****Next Morning****
Olivia's POV
Checking my phone as soon as I wake up has become an habit for me.
So as soon as I feel awake, I stretch my right hand to search for it on my bed since I'm laying on my left side.
Gotcha!
I can't help but smirk when my hand touches my phone.
And the first thing I do is scroll through my messages and check Rolland's own.
*I was really thinking about you, why did you hang up by the way. Did I say something wrong?*
He texted me almost immediately after the call yesterday.
Such a great way to start my day.
I don't even know how to react to this, but I can't help the blush on my face.
I sit up and turn on the light by my bed side to start my day.
But as soon as my feet touch the ground as I'm on my way to the bathroom, the notification bell of my phone rings and I sit my ass back down and pick it up.
It's a text from Grace.
*Check the general group, there is an announcement on it.* It reads and I can't help but raise my eye brows in questioning.
But first, I'm pissed at her.
If she's texting me, it means she's back on land. Why didn't she tell me that first.
*Are you back?* I text her back only to find out that she had gone offline.
So I scroll down till I see the group icon.
To its left reads a huge number, two thousand seven hundred and forty two unread messages.
How and where do I even start from?!
I'm about to swipe it when I realise that there an @ tag.
But just when I'm about to click on it, grace sends a voice note.
*There is gonna be an anonymous game where people ask their crush out and by the end of everything, the people with the most number of crushes would get to win the award of most popular male and female.* Grace's excited voice shouted in her fake Canadian accent.
Things like this are what Grace likes.
Anything that has to do with being recognised
