Valerie's POV
I want to look beautiful tonight. After all, it will be the first time Valerie Bell and her son appear in public.
The night is the charity auction. I want to take my son and show him to the world. I am not ashamed of him, and I will never be. Little Dean must know how much I love him and am willing to stand up for and fight for him. He is my everything.
I know the Starks will be there. I know Dean Stark will be there. I have to admit, I feel a little nervous.
I have picked a green dress to fit my emerald green eyes. My long dark hair is done up, and my makeup is perfect. I put my emerald jewelry on. I am proud of everything I wear tonight because I paid for it myself, a testament to my financial independence.
Hannah Stark will have a fit when she sees Little Dean and me, but I am ready for her. She is nothing to me. Dean can not get rid of her. She is just leeching of him. Everything she wears and everything she owes is thanks to her ex-husband. Hannah Stark never made money for herself. She never did anything for herself. Her parents were wealthy, but they soon fell for one of Dean Stark's tricks and are at his mercy now. He does it so that he can have control over all of them.
Dean was tired of them controlling his life and trying to get him back with Hannah. I am glad he does not have the same control over me. I can only imagine him having power over me after he finds out about Little Dean. He will not have a say in my son's life unless my son wants to be a part of his life. He will not force my son to do as he wants to. He will be unable to control me and make Little Dean see him as his father.
My son will be in control, not Dean, and Little Dean will decide whether he wants anything to do with his father.
I have invited Collin to the charity auction. He is my so-called fiancé, after all.
I am wearing a beautiful emerald ring that looks like an engagement ring. I am glad that I bought all the available shares in JG Industries and that Dean cannot control Collin or his father. They are good people, and I do not want them to be in the middle of my war with the Starks. I will sponsor them no matter what happens. Dean can still try to ruin them by ensuring all his friends in the business world do not do business with them, but I will give them contracts and help them if that happens. I also have friends in the business world who will deal with them.
I am not afraid of taking on Dean Stark. No one will tell me what to do with my life.
Tonight, the Starks will find out who I am. Hannah Stark is going to get a stroke when she sees my son, but if she comes close to my son, I swear I will kill her. I do not want her or Belinda near my son. My bodyguards know not to allow anyone near Little Dean unless I let them.
Collin is on time, as always. I do not want to go too early as Hannah and Belinda Stark like to make an entrance and are always fashionably late. Tonight, I want to steal their spotlight.
Many business people in town who do not know me are curious to know who the CEO of Bell Enterprises is. Well, they will find out tonight at the auction.
Everyone will think I am Collin's date when I walk in with Collin. However, the Stark family holds the charity auction, and the only person who has an invitation to the event is me, Miss Bell of Bell Enterprise. I know it is one of Dean's schemes to find out who the CEO of Bell Enterprises is. Well, he will find out tonight and will be surprised. I bet he does not expect me to be Miss Bell.
I smile coldly as I walk down the stairs to meet Collin at the front door.
Little Dean is waiting for me in the sitting room where Collin stands next to him. Dean looks happy to see Collin. He sees Collin as a friend of mine but knows Collin is not his father.
Ella showed Little Dean photos of Dean Stark, and I know I must tell my son the truth. However, I first want to see how Dean reacts when he sees his second son for the first time. We will have to wait and see before I decide about my son and his father. If Dean accepts little Dean as his son, I may consider them seeing each other.
However, it all depends on little Dean. I will not force him if he doesn't want anything to do with his father. I will also not allow Dean to take over little Dean's life like he did with Oliver's life. My son has to learn to be independent. I will not allow Dean Stark to fight my son's battles for him.
"I am ready. We can go." I say.
"We are a little late." Collin frowns. I know he hates being late.
"That was the plan." I smile.
We get into the limo that is waiting for us outside. We drive to the venue, and I see a red carpet for every guest. Film stars, businesspeople, government officials, and many famous people are at Stark's yearly charity auction.
As usual, I see Hannah and Belinda walking the red carpet, thinking they are the last to arrive. Everyone's names get announced when they walk in. It is almost like in the old times when someone visited the King and Queen or attended a Ball.
Dean Stark is standing at the door greeting guests. He thinks he is the King of the Los Angeles. Well, I am here to steal their crown. I will become the Queen of Los Angeles!
Collin, little Dean, and I walk to the red carpet. I hand my invitation to the bouncers.
"Miss Bell of Bell Enterprises, accompanied by her son, Dean Bell, and her fiancé, Mr. Collin Green!" a voice announces.
I can see Dean looking up and freezing. He stares at me and then at little Dean. I smile at everyone around me, but my eyes do not leave Dean and the pale faces of his family. I do not want to miss a moment of the shockwave I just sent through his family.
