___________________________ . . . Being bed bound is one thing. But being bed bound in the presence of your crush who you have loved for almost twelve years, the same crush who crushed your hurt and insulted you in front of the whole school when you finally puckered up the courage to confess to him, is some next level of torture. But my Dad-D and best friend thought that it was a brilliant idea to make him stay in the same room as me, when all I wanted was to be as far away from him as possible. I could feel his gaze drilling holes into my skull but I refused to even glance at him. My eyes were focussed of my dad who was slicing apples for me. Dad-I was away doing errands while Dad-D stayed. He did not trust Ace with anyone but himself and his new partner in crime Harry. “Look who decided to drop by!” All of our eyes whipped to the door which was flung open, revealing my grandma – Lucy – from Dad-I’s side. “Nanna!” I grinned at her, mad at the fact that I was not able to jump up and hug her. “Oh my…” She kept her hand to her mouth as she took a look at my condition, then she looked distastefully at Ace. “This must be the scum who did this to my grandchild.” “Nanna…” I looked between the angry old lady and even angrier eighteen year old. “Yep.” Dad-D didn’t hold himself back. “I almost always think that your ideas are stupid Daniel, but I am very much impressed with this decision of yours.” She nodded approvingly at her son in law. Oh wow, if Nanna was here then that meant Dad-D and Harry got another member on their team. So it was three against three right now – Aleena, Dad-I and I against Ace being here and Nanna, Dad-D and Harry for him being here. I looked over at Ace to see that his scowl was still sitting there on his perfect face and I doubt it was going to disappear any time soon. He was keeping quiet for now, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it because without Dad-I here, if these three were to start an argument, there would be nothing I could do about this. I reached out for my phone which was placed on the left side, but I couldn’t get my hand on it. “What are you waiting for, boy? Pass her her phone.” Dad-D didn’t wait a moment before he yapped at Ace. I bit the inside of my cheek. All of this is going to come back and bite ME in the ass after I get well and Ace gets away from my crazy dad’s clutches. Does my father want to get rid of me or something? Ace grunted as he tossed the phone at me, the gadget managing to stay on the bed by an inch. “Where’s your manners, boy?” Nanna piped in. All of you, please shut up! That’s what I wanted to scream at them but I kept quiet. Because the best thing to do right now was to keep quiet. Keep quiet until my more sensible father arrived. “Is he mute?” My Nana was fanning the flame, wasn’t she? Why did she have to do that? Why did she have to put me in more trouble than what my dad had already pushed me into. “I am not mute.” My heart skipped a beat as soon as I heard his deep, gruff voice. God, the effect this boy had on me! He was only eighteen but he sounded like a full grown man. He looked like one too. He was so hot and so cool! But this was not the reason why I fell in love with him. When I fell in love with, back in kindergarten, it was because he once stood up for me when I was bullied about my parents being gay. And he was the only person who never made fun of me about it. Of course, now everyone had accepted homosexuality and was all supportive about it, but it just was not the same a few years ago. My parents were openly gay and that had cost them a lot of advancements in their careers. But they stood by their love and what the believed was right and now here we are, a content happy family of three. “Then use your voice.” Nana scoffed. And then she turned to my dad. “Daniel, go get me a cup of tea, won’t you?” “Of course, Lucy.” Dad-D nodded and after throwing a warning look at Ace, he left the room. And now Nana and Ace were having a staring contest while I sweated awkwardly in the middle. “How about we watch some basketball?” I asked nervously as I moved my restrained neck slowly, looking for the remote control. “No.” The two of them said in unison.   I mentally face palmed because well, I was not in a position to do it physically. “Why do you have a car when you don’t know driving?” Nana started. Come on Nana, it wouldn’t hurt to keep quiet, would it? "I am not a bad driver." I didn't dare look over at Ace but I could guess that he was gritting his teeth as he spoke.  "Then why the hell is my grandchild in this condition?" She pointed at me.  I sighed and looked over at my broken limbs. She did have a point on this one.  "Accidents happen." He said coolly. "I am sure you have done in too." "Yes I have." Nana didn't skip a beat. "But it was not deliberate. I did not deliberately put others in danger by driving drunk."  They were raising their voices and I knew this was not going to end prettily.  "Are all of your family members so brainless and conceited like you?" He looked over at me, while pointing at my grandmother.  And there, he had done it! "Excuse me?" I was pissed. I never get pissed but when I do, I get REALLY pissed. "Is she wrong? You really think what you did was normal and right after almost killing me?"  "I said it was an accident!" He yelled back.  "You shouldn't drove drunk and then this would not have happened.!" I shot right back.  "What the hell is going on?" Dad-I walked in right then and his eyes fell on his mother. "Mom?" "Ian." Nana rolled her eyes and looked back at Ace. "You got saved because he is here."  "I don't need no saving, old woman." "Who are you calling an old woman?" And then it continued.  . . . _______________________________
