Home sweet home. At least I would have felt that way if a forever angry Ace Hunter was not in the same room as me. He refused to look at me and was seated like a statue, staring at the opposite wall.
It had been almost a month since the accident and I was back to my home, now able to limp around with much difficulty. But hey, anything is better than having to lay in bed all day, now isn’t it? And the cast from my arm and the neck brace had come off. Phew.
And I was going back to school from next Monday, though I would have no choice but to use a wheelchair there. It was an automated one but it looked pretty cool but Dad-D insisted that Ace be around all day to make sure nothing happened to me.
Heh, I wouldn’t be really surprised if he became the reason something happened to me. Especially after how extra my Dad-D and Harry were with him, in the span of this one month. Just thinking about what would happen once I was out of all these cast and Ace out of his ‘service’ made shivers go down my spine.
I think I would have to grab Harry and move to some hut in the middle of an island like in Harry Potter or something to get away from the wrath of the school bad boy.
Ugh… Why isn’t the two of them thinking about the repercussions?
“How is my favourite human doing?”
I rolled my eyes as Harry marched into the room, giving Ace a mocking smile before turning. “Look what mom send you.”
I perked up at once. Harry’s mom, Safina, was such an awesome baker. And she always made unlimited goodies for us, for as long as I can remember. I wanted to see what she had sent this time.
“Macaroons.” A big stupid smile appeared on my face as soon as I saw the colourful treats.
“Want some, Hunter?” Harry raised a brow at the stone man in the room.
“f**k off.” Ace rolled his eyes.
“You really need to mind your language around here, because Dan is no pushover.” Harry smiled sweetly.
Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. It was obvious that Ace was intimidated by my burly dad but seeing Harry threaten him with that fact was just plain stupid.
Why didn’t my best friend have any guts of his own?
“Why? Is he going to give one of his long boring sermons?” Ace countered.
“My Dad is nowhere near boring buddy.” I rolled my eyes.
Ace looked at me, maybe for the first time in the whole time we were in my room – which is actually the guestroom of my home because it’s the only available room downstairs. I wish I could go back to my room because I love it in there but I couldn’t move around the house from there.
Thank you, Ace Hunter, for making my life so miserable.
“Sure, unlike his daughter I presume?” His voice was mocking, though his face showed such innocent curiosity that one would think that he was genuinely oblivious of the effect of his words if you didn’t know him as closely as I did.
Yes, we were two years apart.
And yes, we never spoke much to each other in the years we have known each other.
But I knew about him. I knew a lot of things about him.
Okay, I admit to being a stalker all these years. But I never tried to harm him so it shouldn’t be something to be ashamed about, right?
“Watch it, Hunter.” Harry said before I could react.
“Or what?” Ace looked up at Harry. Unlike my best friend who looked pretty riled up by the mere verbal scuffle, Ace looked the least bothered by it. He seemed as if he was having just another lazy talk with one of his pals.
“Or I am calling Daniel!” That really was the best comeback my best friend had, wasn’t it? Even I felt embarrassed by it.
Ace just smirked and pulled his phone out, tapping on it and completely ignoring the two of us.
Was this how this was going to be? For the next I-don’t-know-how-long?
“Harry, sit down.” I hissed at him while pulling him down to the seat next to mine. “Are you trying to get both of us killed or something?”
“What did I do?” The dumbass gave me a clueless look, one which would work on anyone but me. “He is the one who is going about saying and doing absolutely bullshit.” And then he had the audacity to come closer to my ear as he lowered his voice. “Just because you have stupid crush on him, doesn’t mean you should let him off with whatever he does!”
“I will kick you where it hurts if you don’t shut your mouth.” I hissed at him.
He just smiled cheekily at me as he tilted his head. “Go ahead.”
“Pfft.” I looked over at Ace to see that there was a faint look of amusement in his face though he was not looking up from his phone.
“Yeah yeah, make fun of the disabled one. I will have my day and then I am making sure I make the best of it.” I huffed and turned back to whatever I was watching on TV.
“Aww…. Are you mad?” Harry hugged me from the side and I quickly shrugged him off. This piece of s**t is really going to get it from me.
“Get your hands off of me.” I hissed.
“Okay.” Harry did as told but only after placing a kiss on my cheek.
I didn’t think much of it because we did that a lot growing up but I felt the tension in the air when I looked over at Ace and found him looking at Harry with a deadly expression.
What the hell is he thinking?
