Like always, the night was once again a long and sleepless one for the ruthless dragon king.
Being as lonely as ever, even when he is always surrounded by all his men all the time, Draco once again reached the cliff in the middle of the night with the same empty heart, as if he himself knew very well that sleep was not going to do justice to him once again tonight, like always.
Or was he willing to stay awake just for tonight, as he just woke up from the most beautiful dream of his life, filled with one of his best memories from his childhood that he cherishes from the bottom of his heart, and may be that was why the dragon king just did not want to let go of this feeling so easily for tonight, knowing that only this piece alone from his past is enough to cheer his deserted heart up even when he finds himself surrounded by the darkest aspects of the life, all the time.
It was just that, the time only turned Draco into the ruthless Dragon king, who was once a sweet little and loving boy with so much joy in a big heart. But that little innocent boy is now gone, and a brutal king of savages took the place, only for the sake of survival at the beginning, but later the habit of being the most powerful being in the whole world gave birth to an entirely new soul, a ruthless one, for sure. And from then on, he was called the most feared Dragon king or the Savage king among the people who have heard the nerve stirring stories of King Draco and his lethal blood thirsty dragon Egan, and always prayed not to fall in the hands of such king ever in their entire life, in order to save themselves from the brutality of all those primitives.
When tales of his cruelty were spreading all over the world, only Draco, the Dragon king knew what exactly was the reason that turned him into such a cruel king, turning his heart all empty that was once warm and full of joy.
What was his reason? What turned him into such a being?
Well,
Hatred.
It was all about hatred.
The tremendous amount of hatred for the clan of those particular people who are called or named as the witches, somehow managed to enrage the prince of the dragonborns, giving enough reason to him to grow up to become someone like what he is now.
But, you must be wondering what exactly did the witches do, to get such hatred from the king of the sole dragon in the whole world?
Right?
Well,
These people, who are called as the witches for their elemental powers and spells all around the world, were always there behind each and every single thing that Draco had lost in his life from a very early age.
Yes, that is what the Savage king believes too.
His own parents, his royal family, his palace, his kingdom of dragonborns were all snatched from Draco without any mercy and that too when he was at no age to understand what precious thing he had lost. And not only that, being the hair of the dragonborn realm, even his own childhood that Draco was expected to spend lavishly under the roof of the enormous palace, in care of so many maids and so on, was ruined ruthlessly, and the little prince was left to struggle only to survive alone in the middle of the earth while at that time it was just Egan, his soul bounded dragon who was there to go through all the difficult moments along with the prince, even when none of them had any idea about how to cope with such a life all of a sudden, with no one by their side to get them through.
And they had to endure all these only for the one who was responsible for the ruin of the kingdom of the dragonborns that night when the whole realm was burnt down into ashes in just one night. And when Draco was mature enough to dig into the past to get the answers for his own, it was the name of the clan of the witches that came to him, which confirmed the savage king's suspicion, giving rise to the inexplicable disgust and hatred for that other kind of the supernatural world, named as witches.
Since then, apart from taking most of the land under his reign by conquering all the other kingdoms with the help of his huge army of savages and his dreadful dragon, ...wiping out each and every single sign of the existence of the entire species of the witches was the only goal left in the life of the most ruthless king in the world.
Yes, that is what the dragon king is up to now, as the only word and their existence he just can not tolerate any longer...the witches.
Yes.
Draco pledged to erase them all from the surface of the earth.
And only for that, he even took his entire army to the furthest corner of the earth as soon as he got just one single hint about the whereabouts of the clan of the witches.
Nothing... Not even the fear of getting trapped by some kind of conspiracy to get slaughtered by his enemies could stop him to travel to the farthest corner of the world, even when he had to cross the seven seas or even when he had to endure the heat of the enraged sun, the rage of the stormy sky, or even the deadly cold weather.
Ignoring all the adverse conditions by any means, one thing that Draco kept his mind fixed on was to burn their realm down into ashes without showing any kind of mercy to those who have ever dared to pull him out of his deserved place, only for the sake of getting his revenge, which might bring some peace to the raging heart of the Dragon King at last, only if possible.
And now, it was just one single night waiting in between the dragon king and his deep-seated will of getting his revenge from those who had once dared to harm his empire, as he was already on his way to the realms of the witches, leading his entire army to that place to ravage, to hunt and to kill.
Now, it was just a few hours that Draco have to wait cause the next morning he was already determined to omit the existence of his enemy from the map forever.
The whole night went by bit by bit, as the stars travelled across the vast sky from one direction to the other without bothering to stop for anyone, while Draco kept sitting at the edge of the cliff, keeping his stern eyes at the farthest distance as if he was still searching for something in the void even when it was all dark.
For the first time in his life, something unknown kept bothering the ruthless dragon king even when he was all prepared to attack the land of the witches, even when he had done this for plenty of times before.
But still, some invisible fears lit up in the corner of his heart for which Draco himself could found no reason at all.
Surprisingly, Egan too was as restless as Draco for tonight as well, as he flew up in the sky, making a shrill and loud screeching sound all of a sudden, declaring the fact that he was as awake as his master.
Tonight, neither Draco nor Egan slept even for the slightest moment.
The huge black scaled beast kept his wings stretched in the air all night under the dark night sky that he seemed almost invisible if not his ferocious roars were there to announce his beastly presence from time to time.
And Draco?
Well, he kept sitting at the same place all night without blinking his eyes for one single time until the first ray of the rising sun crept out from behind the horizon, declaring the end to his wait at last.
The sky lit up within a few moments and the little black dot at the corner of the vast sky started becoming visible at last, which was nothing but Egan, the enormous dragon of the king flying at a great height, being as restless as before.
"My king, our men are ready." A voice made Draco look away from the horizon, at last, all of a sudden.
It was no one but Logan standing behind him early at the dawn, informing Draco that it was time to leave.
Without bothering to look back, Draco stood up and turned to leave.
"Very well. We are departing in a few minutes." Saying that, Draco left to get dressed, while his dragon bothered least to get down to look for Draco or even for some food.
While a huge army was on the way to attack the land of the witches at any moment, the whole land of peace and beauty was still in a beautiful sleep, being totally unaware of what was about to happen today.
Or maybe they all knew everything about it.
If that was true then may be they also knew each and every consequences of this day and that was why they chose to spend their lives in peace and without any worry until the last moment that they got in hand, knowing that it is almost impossible to avoid such disaster even when they acquire some kind of powers and spells.
But it was also true that nothing in the whole world was ever made which could stand against the Dragon king and which could stop him from whatever he wanted to do.
So, the people of the land of spells knew that they have left nothing to do except accepting their destiny.
Yes, may be they all knew that it was the last day of their lives, except the one.
"Sis Eli, sis Eli... Wake up. Hurry. Wake up, sis Eli. Look it is morning again. Remember, you promised to play with me." Oliver woke up early at dawn as soon as the sky lit up and climbed on the bed of his sister in order to try to wake up Aurelia too, as this little boy was already full of so much excitement even when the day had barely started, cause he remembered that his sister had promised him that she would play with him today.
Unaware of what was written in all their fates, Aurelia opened her eyes at last only to greet those cheerful big eyes of her little brother Oliver at the very dawn.
"Okay, okay, I am up now. Happy?" Aurelia sat up on the bed and pulled the tiny little body of her brother on her lap to caress and love him with all her heart, who was jumping all around her till now, attempting to make his wish fulfilled.
"So, where do you want to go today, Oli?" Aurelia asked just after she planted a soft and loving kiss at her brother's temple.
"Outside, sis Eli. Come now. I want to show you something. Come." With that, Oliver jumped down from Aurelia's lap and got down from the bed, only to run outside with his bare little feet.
And of course, Aurelia had to follow him outside, cause she just did not want to miss her loving little brother out of her sight, not even for the slightest second.
"Careful, Oli. It is cold, outside." Aurelia came outside as soon as she could to find Oliver, but it was something else that made her entirely mesmerised for no reason at all.
The whole surrounding was still beautifully covered with some haze at the early hours of the dawn, turning the whole place look absolutely like the paradise, that even Aurelia had never seen such sight ever in her life.
Indeed, it was one of the beauties of the nature of Euthymia.
As if the paradise has come down to the earth itself.
Only if she knew that nothing of these was going to last any longer, now.
