Chapter 7 Doubt

After I talk to my mother, Queen Rianne, I notice she become conscious of my every movement.
My conversation with my mother makes her suspicious, from that moment she has her eye on me.
I hate that mother guarding my every move, she asks Lady Helene to come with me and Siana to go outside to do our daily routine and training.
Helene is someone my father King and my mother Queen trust, she is our nanny.
I, my twin sister Siana, and Helene we're chatting after we finish our training. Siana cheerfully sits in the field of flowers and began to collect flowers to make her flower crowns.
I smell the floral scent and eucalyptus leaves; I lay on the grass, close my eyes while my head is leaning on Helene’s lap, Siana humming a song while creating her flower crowns.
“I will make one for you Lady Helene” Siana's voice is sweet and endearing.
“Oh, thank you, Princess Siana”
I wonder how many times I found myself bored whenever I sit down with Siana and stays by her side doing the activities she likes the most but the fun thing is right now I don’t mind at all being here, I wanted to stay and listen to Siana singing a song while it blends with the chirping of the birds, it makes me feel light.
I know the reasons that Helene is with us; it is unusual but I’m aware; the typical activities of the Princess bores me. I need my horse, I need to ride my horse and run down the hill as I catch the sunset, practice my swords until I feel my muscle pain.
I didn’t belong in the fields of flower, I open my eyes and peek a little. A chef sun kiss touched Siana’s face and that light illuminates her beauty.
Siana and me and are identical twins but something about her makes her look so calm, her face has that angelic features, soft and easy to approach by others, maybe kind is the fitting word.
Siana gently does everything how she touches every flower and leaf while she is creating her flower crown.
“Siana” I call her
She looks at me with her innocent doe eyes
“When will you cross the Passage?” I put my hand on my cheek while I turn around, face her, waiting for her answer.
“Oh,” Siana avoids my eyes.
“It’s beautiful in the Other World, you should have seen it” I boast, more like encouraging her to go.
“Really?” she asks
“You crossed it” Siana blurted out
I gasp, I’m a little bit startled, I somehow sense Siana knows that I do cross the passage but she never questioned me. Seeing Siana's frowned face may it seems that I betray her for crossing the Passage without her makes me feel sorry for her.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t tell you. It’s sudden. I get curious” I didn’t lie, I tell the truth, It’s sudden for I hear voices that called me and I didn’t notice I crossed the Passage.
Siana avoid my gaze and play with the hem of her dress, “I wish we could cross it together” Siana's voice tells me she is upset.
“I know but I’m excited and curious” I defend myself
I know Siana very well if there is something she cannot do that is getting mad at me for a long time.
"I'm sorry" I whisper
Siana's face softens when she hears me say sorry, she lifts the flower crown and continues what she is making.
“Are you not mad anymore?” I ask honestly
Siana didn’t answer yet, she remains focused on what she is doing and pretends not to hear me,
“Siana I’m asking you,” I said in a sweet tone
I even put both of my hand in circles while I say "Earth calling Siana" it in her ear not that loud,
“What,” Siana said irritatingly; my eyes widen in surprise in a while after she sees my shock expression, she suddenly broke in a wide grin and smile. Siana almost had me.
I thought she is mad as soon as Siana smile brightly, I give in and give my biggest smile too.
“You almost got me there” I laugh
We both laugh as Helene look both of us with a fond smile; Helene is there since we are newly born, she helps our mother to take care of us when we're infants.
Helene technically stands as our second mother; I and Siana treat her as a family. We often see her more than our real mother, Queen Rianne.
Queen Rianne as she fulfills her duty as a Queen to the citizen and a wife to the King, most of her time is devoted to the Kingdom and the King.
As the future Queen, I understand my mother and Siana as someone with a naturally loving heart, she is fine with it.
Helene stays by our side from our childhood until now; she loves us dearly and both of us feel that.
She combs our hair, helps us dress, read us bedtime stories when we are young and now when we're older, she helps us bun our hair and even help us in our study.
Helene is reliable and also she is loyal to the Queen, my mother's words are her command.
It is not a secret to us anymore that she will listen to my mother's order as a sign of her loyalty.
Helene's husband Roberto also works in the palace as my father King adviser, both of them pledge their loyalty to the Royal family.
They are both nice to our family; Roberto helps my father King in his works makes me thankful.
Although after having a conversation with my mother, Helene is acting weirdly. I smile at her brightly, wondering what’s on her mind. I notice she gasp before she smiles at me. I know there is something that my mother wanted her to do, a mission.
Helene’s hand is fidgeting, she seems off and also not with herself. I try my best not to make sense that I notice it.
Ruininki can pass through the barrier of the Forbidden Forest now; whenever Ruininki is near me, I can feel his energy.
It is not safe for both of us if the Kingdom knows Ruininki lurking around.
My eyes wander around and saw Ruininki silhouette standing in a tree not so far from us, my heart skips a beat.
I held the strand of my horse and hold its head “I want to go for a ride” I say
“But Princess the dawn is coming, you should stay with us” Helene advise
“I will go around for a little while, I won’t be long” I smile at Helene
“Princess Mia” Helene once again pleasingly calls my name
“Why Lady Helene, what is wrong? Mia always rides his horse and goes around the Kingdom before we head home. What’s the matter?” Siana asks curiously
I smile timidly, Siana's naive attitude helps me to escape Helene's tight guard. Helene looks at Siana anxiously but she tries to shake it off, she turns to Siana, awkwardly smiles,
"I'm worried for it is near dawn" Helene timidly answer
"You're so sweet Lady Helene but it's Mia rituals to ride her horse and goes around the Kingdom before we head home so I hope you let her" Siana sweet voice is encouraging
Helene turns to me and advises me "Okay, be careful Princess Mia and be back before dawn"
I hold the hurdle and ride in my horse, I start to gallop my horse and make it run leaving Siana and Helene behind.
“Don’t worry Helene, I’ll be back before you know it” I tease her, laughing a little bit.
I know where to go, I’m sure where he used to hide, I go to the mountain trails. I don’t go that far, in the middle of the mountain trail I stop and I give my horse some water to drink.
I can feel Ruininki energy, I fell his presence and energy embracing me as he whispers in my ears
“Princess don’t you miss me?” his voice is icy and I can feel his breath
I take a deep breath, I face him, I bravely take his stare that ripping my soul, his eyes that looking directly to mine, I look at it without dodging.
“I know you assume I like you and that's it's okay for us to be like this,” I said trying to make a point, being brave.
“Oh' so you don't like me” I feel his fingers, he laces it in my shoulders as the tingling sensation I felt when he touches my skin.
“Stop,” I say in conviction
I see when Ruininki smirks, “you’re tough facade makes you different in any other Royalty” Ruininki utters in his deep voice.
“Ruiniki, my mother warns me about you,” I say in a firm voice
“Oh, your mother Queen Rianne” his voice is in normal tone as if he is only referring to a normal person
“Why you talk about my mother in that tone?” my eyes squinted as I talk to him
“What do you mean Princess?” Ruininki sultry dominating voice never ceases
“I mean like you live more than her like you are older” I gulp as I said those words, I never read Ruininki journal yet; I’m not ready but I have an idea through reading Kenenkie’s journal.
Ruininki stares deep in my eyes and slowly utters the words “I was here before you are born. I have been waiting for years”
I can’t help but look at him, his eyes seem taking me to a magnificent place I never been before, I never felt like this before, my heart skips a beat.
Ruiniki seems like taking over my consciousness, I don’t know what he is doing to me, his words have its way to take over me and overpower my logical thinking.
I can't allow Ruininki to treat my mother Queen like that, I can’t stand here and be a fool because he talks sweets and makes my mind go crazy.
Runiniki stands so close, he never touches me but his presence alone is powerful enough.
I feel the icy air embracing me; I warm myself by my own hands and I felt so wronged to be here.
I breathe in, trying to compose myself “Ruininiki, my mother said those who trap in the Forbidden forest are vicious creatures and will spread darkness in the Kingdom and the other World, tell me then, are you one of them? Is that true?” I'm trying to calm myself
“I told you the Forbidden Forest is a dangerous place and vicious creature is everywhere and that doesn’t except me. I don’t hide you that fact” Ruiniki stood there looking at me coldly, never attempt to come near and hold me even when I’m feeling cold.
“I mean why?, Why you act and like it's okay to be the bad person and accept it like it is the truth” I’m getting emotional
“Princess Mia, it is the truth. I accept it a long time ago, the born Gifted and the prophecy that when the twins are born as the Gifted; one will harbor the gift and the other is the curse. I know what I have and I’m living my life in vain waiting for someone like me. My most awaited moment came when you found me on our own; we link, you and I have the same path to take for that I’ am not alone anymore” Ruininki stare is piercing.
‘I don’t know what you’re talking about Ruininki” I said as my voice trembles
“I expected this somehow, I see you around your twin sister Siana and the Lady who take care both of you; you're attached to them and I can see you are not ready to accept your fate but I wait long enough for this and It will not be a bother if I wait a little more. You will become a true lady soon; you’re turning eighteen, I can’t wait to see you break out of your shell and be the real you.” Ruininki still stare at me as if he is expecting me to agree with him
“I’ am not what you think I' am Ruininki, you got me wrong. I’m here for my Kingdom and I’m descendants of the Queen who harbors the gift, you’re lying” I’m teary-eyed
“It’s getting dawn, you should go back to the palace, I will leave you alone until you decide on your own to come and see me again,” Ruininki says as he turns his back and walks away.
