Chapter 5 Escaping and Freedom

I’m hiding under the shelf, the ogre is awake. I can sense him moving. I wait for a while, I can’t be caught by that monster and be eaten.

I only have a dagger hidden under my thighs covered by my dress but my dagger wasn’t enough to protect me.

I hid until I can’t hear any movements. I crawl slowly and make tiny footsteps. I peek outside. I see that the ogre is sleepy again, his eyes are half-closed.

I move fast and swift not making any sound when the dwarf yells again.

“You” the dwarf shouted

I froze while I'm on my way and my feet are stuck I can’t move, I’m trembling.

“I told you to wake up but you’re sleeping again” the dwarf continues

I need to do something for me to escape; the dwarf still shouting at the ogre which amazes me how courageous the dwarf is, he yells to the ogre-like it not a monster ready to eat him alive.

I feel the ogre moves, I can’t help but turn around and see the ogre is scratching his head; his eyes still half-closed and his yawning.

I realize the dwarf that is yelling him is on the other side, the ogre completely cover me.

I immediately duck and hide in the nearest room, just a few more steps and I’m near the other room. I can’t walk carelessly.

In a flash I quickly run, I feel both of them gaze in my direction, I breathe deeply. I hear footsteps, tiny steps. I have the feeling it is the dwarf checking on me.

I close my eyes and waited to be busted when I hear the ogre growl in frustration.

The dwarf turns to the ogre with an irritated look “Shut up! I need to look at what it is” the dwarf voice is tiny but intimidating.

I hear the loud footsteps of the ogre, my heart beats faster.

“I told you to shut up” the dwarf yell

But the step of the ogre becomes fast, I think the ogre about to attack the dwarf when I heard a loud sound, the ogre may slip on the floor.

I heard the dwarf laugh, “You think you can attack me like that as long as I have this you can’t even lay your finger on me” the dwarf continues to laugh.

The dwarf attention is now in the ogre, I take a deep breath, I see the secret passage, the rock is pushed and another dwarf came in the Elder’s house.

“Santro what are you doing?” the other dwarf commented startled in what he sees.

“Why you’re holding that?” the other dwarf asks

“Oh it is you, Ceris; I thought there is an invader who sneaks in the house” the dwarf name Santro answered.

“Santro, why are so loud?” the dwarf named Ceris who has been arrived is irritated.

The ogre growl once again; the two dwarfs turn their heads.

“Let go of that, that’s enough, stop doing that,” the dwarf name Ceris says so.

“I’m waking him up; he is sleeping while guarding the Elder’s library” Santro answers

The dwarf who names Santro holds a thing that seems like a stick when the button is pushed, the ogre is shocked by electric waves.

The dwarf name Ceris grabs the stick and immediately walk away, I think they will get near the ogre which gives me a chance to swiftly run.

I ‘m in front of the rock, the exit; I have to push it for me to get away in that place.

I still hear the chattering of the two dwarfs and the growling of the ogre is slowly fading.

I have the feeling that dwarf named Ceris is way too kind for the job.

I immediately push the rock carefully; I try my best not to make any sound.

I manage to go through the tunnel and close the exit passage again by the rock.

I push all the bushes that covering my face, I’m sweaty, and I’m gasping hard.

I’m trying to catch my breath as I continue walking when I’m far enough, I lay down the grass and close my eyes. I feel I need to rest for a little to regain my energy. I close my eyes.

I dream, I’m running and it is dark, I need to go somewhere and save myself before the dark eaten me. I want to escape.

I’m awakened and I’m in the middle of the field of grass. I slept because of tiredness. I remember I need to go home fast before my mother found out that I sneak out of the palace.

I ran fast, I get in the secret entrance in the palace. I’ve been greeted by the Kingdom knights and I greeted them back normally.

I quickly get in my room, the book I stole in the Elder's library, I put in my closet, locked it and I hurriedly clean myself.

I heard Siana's voice in my bedroom “Mia, you're not opening so I came in. Mother calling us for our breakfast” Siana's voice is soft and endearing.

“Yes, Siana. I will be there. I will fix myself” I answer her casually

“Wanted me to help you out with  your hair?” Siana asks sweetly

Siana is the type of sister who is sweet and does you favors without asking her.

Siana combs my hair, she hums a song while she gently brushing my hair.

“A simple brushing of hair; why can you make it as something extravagant just because you sing a song while doing that” I tease her

Siana blushed and smile shyly; I like it when she gets flustered, my twin sister looks adorable.

“You do like singing,” I say in a soothing voice

“Yes, whenever I made a flower crown and starts to sing, the fairies gather by my side and help me make my flower crown. I have made one for you” Siana gets it inside her dress pocket and put it in my head.

“You’re beautiful Mia; I pick the right flowers for you.” Siana smiles as she looks at me in the mirror.

“What flower is this?” I’m curious

“Willow, Seeded Eucalyptus and Spray Roses Flower Crown” Siana answer sweetly

“You like it?” Siana asks with sparkling eyes.

“Yes it is indeed beautiful Siana, thank you for making me one” I smile to her through the mirror.

“Where’s yours?” I ask

“Here is mine, it is Asters, Spray Roses and Ranunculus Flower Crown” Siana smiles while she put the flowers crown on her head.

“It fits you well Siana,” I say simply

“Thank you” Siana held my hand and says “Let’s go”.

Timepass by as we age, I can come back and forth in the Passage in our Kingdom and the other World. I can cross to the Other World without Siana's knowledge.  There are a lot of things I kept from Siana, all the information I gathered about the Other World. 

I know Siana feels that I’m hiding something from her; she feels it even though we never talk. we can sense each other well.

I always encourage Siana to cross the Passage with me but she is afraid, I persuade her to cross the Passage and go to the other World; Atracia City. I told her about the exciting things we might see in the other World for her to be courageous to cross it with me.

I told her about the high rise building, the cars, and cellphones, but Siana keeps looking down and avoids my eyes for contact. I can sense her fear.

Siana is the timid one, she always wants a safe place, she fears the unknown.

I remember I read Ruininki's twin self-written biography, his name is Kenenkie. I also know about the gift and the omen that my mother Queen Rianne keeps on hiding me.

For now, I keep everything I know to myself; I want to further known things and understand my World and my role.

Inside the Forbidden Forest, I often go there and one time I ask Ruininki the reason he stays in the forest and lives there, I heard a lot of stories about him and I read the gifted journal kept in the Elder’s House. I still want to know the reasons directly from him and I decided not to tell Ruininki about the Gifted journal I read.

“Why do you stay in this dark place for so long?” 

“The barrier that Queen Leonor has made I can’t pass through it. She dedicated her life to make the strongest shield for the Kingdom for that I have no choice but to stay in this part of the forest” Ruininki looking in the dull, endless vastness. 

I don’t know what to feel; Queen Leonor is my great grandmother, the mother of my grandmother Queen Elisa. 

I remember my grandmother Queen Elisa sacrifice her energy too for her cleanse the darken energy of our Kingdom. The two Queens both have tragic endings in their reigns.

“Queen Leonor is a great Queen that sacrifices herself for the sake of our Kingdom. I adore her and her acts for our Kingdom” I blurted out.

I can’t help but voice out my thoughts,

“Queen Leonor she is a selfless Queen not thinking about herself, she cares for the citizen of Querencia,” I emphasize my every word.

“Queen Leonor is weak not much as you; in all the Queen Descendants you are special. You are brave; none of the Queens matches your courage, intelligence, and ideals. Believe me when I say to you Princess Mia between you and Princess Siana you are one of a kind. You are a Queen that this Kingdom will never have because you do not belong here. You belong in a better World not separate by Passage, without any restrictions in accumulating knowledge. Why be a Queen of this Kingdom when you can be a Queen of both Wolds” Ruininki looks at my eyes deeply, his voice is sultry and deep and the way he talks is inviting and pleasing.

Mr. Ruininki words hurt me, Queen Leonor is my inspiration. She is also my great grandmother. I don’t favor what Ruininki said even I have a fascination towards him; I can’t tolerate his behavior to great Queen Leonor.

“How could you say that about my great grandmother?” I ask him bitterly

Ruininki laughs, “You’re great grandmother Queen Leonor made the biggest mistakes in her life” Ruininki look at the vastness above.

“Isn’t because you know my great grandmother?” I ask

“Yes I know her” he answered briefly

“What is your relationship with her?” I ask intrigue

Ruininki smirks and looks away “There are things you will know in time Princess Mia” he still looking at the darkness above.

“It’s because of the barrier, it is because you are trap here” I know I’m not making any sense at all but deep within me I wanted to reach out to Ruininki so he can open up his feelings to me.

There is a reason Ruininki is here and I’m aware of that, I know giving Ruininki freedom out of the barrier is dangerous for my Kingdom and even for myself but my heart dictates me to listen to Ruininki and give him a chance.

Ruininki faces me and cups my face “Princess Mia, I’m trapped here. You can help me get out of here” he says in a soft tone, I don’t know but he seems pleading to me and it sounds pleasing.

I hold his hand that cups my face, “What will I do?” I ask without thinking.

“Lend me your energy,” he said staring in my eyes deeply saying those words in a deep sultry voice.

“How can I do that?” I ask without even caring about what will happen to me.

Ruininki smile at me and I feel his hand goes in my waist and he grab me gently and hugs me.

I feel his body warmer, I can see his dark energy is enveloping him and scattering but slowly it calms, his energy it submerges within him and gently embraces his body and it layers around him. It looks like mine, his energy turn in a dark shade of purple while mine is a dark shade of blue with pink layers embracing me.

Ruininki envelop me in his warm embrace as I close my eyes and completely feel his presence. It is the first time I feel secure. I like the feeling of his warm embrace.

“Princess Mia, you’re energy matches mine, you can calm my raging storm. You and I are fated to take a path.” Ruininki faces me and holds my hand.

I’m staring at him while we walk; he seems to have great control and power towards me. I feel I’m under his spell.

“Let’s cross the barrier you and me,” Ruininki says

We were in front of the barrier and I touch the barrier and let my hands pass through it. I walk as Ruininki follows me. Runiniki smiles as he is walking in the barrier with me.

We both pass through the barrier holding hands as I smile because finally, Ruininki has his freedom.

“I’ve waited long enough for this my Princess Mia” Ruininki pressed my hand as we are still holding hands.

“I’m happy you’re free at last” I don’t know but I embrace him and it feels light.
