Mint's PoV
"Mercy, Xavier. Hi, meet my uncles, the Knights of Hell, my dad, a knight of hell, my biological dad, a priest and my aunt, Sloth, one of the seven deadly sins," Mint deadpanned. "Now, I'm going to need you to cooperate with us, or they will all kill you with zero hesitation."
"Wait, what?" Kai asked, eyes wide as he looked at me. s**t.
Fuck. No, s**t, f**k. f**k. I f****d up.
"I'm your dad? Your biological dad? But that's impossible, I haven't- I'm not- you must have the wrong person, Mint. Wait, is that why you're always with me? Oh, it's not, I'm not."
Double f**k. I looked over at Azure who was also panicking, he looked at me eyes wide and I shrugged. I guess it was, what that saying, the old one? The cat was out of the bag? Well, I'm pretty sure it was something like that, we had to learn about it in class.
"Okay, so yeah, I f****d up. Surprise. You're my biological father," I said, and he seemed to have paled. This was not looking very good. Oh, this wasn’t how I had wanted him to find out. I’m pretty sure Azure never wanted him to know, but now he knew.
"No, Mint. You don't understand, I can't be your father. I'm a virgin," he said with no shame. I mean, you'd think he was a blushing mess but his face held no emotion.
Church snickered a little, and Nether seemed to have done something to him and he hissed, and Nether was the only in distance.
"Oh, so, I'm pretty now would be a bad time to mention the fact that I'm also half-demon?"
"What?!"
"Mint!" Azure snapped.
Wait, no? Could he read minds too?
"No, i***t. You said that out loud," Ocean deadpanned and looking over at Kai, he seems to have paled even more. The amount of fear he had in his eyes, was scary. I didn't know if he was scared of me or of what I'd said.
Oh, I was hoping for the latter.
"Oh, my god. Mister Kai, you screwed a demon?" Church asked and then he hissed again. "Mister Nether, stop it,” he whined.
"Keep your mouth shut, you f*****g i***t," Nether hissed at Church, who rolled his eyes but nodded.
"Mint!" Azure yelled, oh, he was fuming. "One thing. I asked you to do one thing and not tell him."
"Wait, you knew about this?!" Kai yelled, glaring at Azure.
"Can we please deal with your intricate family affairs later? We have two humans who have seen our portal in and we should probably do something about it," Ocean deadpanned, motioning to the tied up twins.
"Wait, hold up, does that mean Lucifer is my grandfather?" I mean, it must have. If Azure was technically my father and his father was technically Lucifer, so Lucifer was technically my grandfather.
"Mint!" Feather yelled. Oh, so he seemed to have joined in on the conversation now too. He'd been too busy talking to Yua before.
"I'm just asking!" I retorted.
"But yeah, surprise," Feather said.
"My grandfather is the devil himself. I went from having no family to having the devil as my grandfather, the Sins and the Knights as my uncles and aunts and a priest for a father."
"Oh, that's- I-" Kai mumbled.
"Wait until all his kids are together, Kid, and then you'll see what Hell really is," Ocean deadpanned. "I want to kill Pride with my bare hands."
"How many kids does Mister Lucifer have?" Church asked.
"19," Nether replied.
"Okay, but in his defence, he only has 5 kids he f****d for, one is adopted and then there's the seven and us. So he has 3 sets," Cedar said.
"The humans!" Ocean said, pointing in the twin’s direction. Oh, they already didn't like Church and me. This would make them absolutely despise us.
"Okay, so we kill them," Feather said, shrugging his shoulders. "That will literally solve all our problems."
"Oh, that's it!" Ocean screamed as he lunged for Feather.
Feather stood there smugly as Yua came and stood in front of him. Stupid Yua.
"You fuckers better not break anything in my apartment or I will kill you all!" Azure yelled. Feather was standing behind Yua, and Cedar was holding Ocean back.
"Mister Nether?" I heard Church ask. Oh, s**t.
"Oh, what now?" Nether asked. He was looking down at Church, who was grinning.
"Mister Nether, would you ever f**k a human?"
"I'm not having this conversation with you."
See, Cedar was getting overwhelmed with all the chaos, so he let out a blast. It froze everyone, he had frozen every single demon in the room except himself and Sloth.
"Mister Cedar, are you okay?" Church asked and Cedar scowled at him.
"Kai, I see you trying to make a run for it. And for the sake of it all. I'm going to unfreeze Azure and you are going to have a proper conversation with Mint and him. Do I make myself clear? You try and exorcist him and I'll kill you myself."
"Mister Cedar, can you please unfreeze Mister Nether?" Church asked, he was looking at Nether who looked at peace, which was weird considering what Church had asked him.
"Not now, Church," Cedar said.
He walked over to the humans and took the tape off of their mouths. "You scream and the tape goes right back on, do you understand?" he said and the twins nodded.
So then he unfroze Azure and you best believe me when I said things were awkward. Cedar made Azure, Kai and I go to the bedroom.
"Oh, don't leave us here!" Xavier hissed.
"Just, stay here. Don't make eye contact and don't talk and you'll be fine. Hopefully. And Church is there," I said.
"He's sat on a demon. He's sitting in a demons lap," Mercy deadpanned.
"You're right, but think of it like this. If you're nice to them they won't- I don't know, and we all know how annoying Church is, so don't be annoying. Now, excuse me."
I followed behind Azure and Kai and oh God, things were so awkward. We were in Azure's bedroom and no one was saying anything.
"Okay, so," I said trying to break the silence. "How have you been, Kai?"
"Shut up, Mint."
"Don't act like a d**k to him, Kai. He's your kid."
"Azure, what did you do?!"
"What do you mean, 'what did I do'?"
"You told me you could take my memories away. So, what? I f****d someone and you took that memory away?" he snapped.
"I don't think I should be in here for this," I said.
"No, Mint, stay," Kai said.
"I'm not a dog," I retorted.
"Kai, I'm not going to have this whole conversation with you here," Azure said, as he looked over at Kai who was pacing. Azure had his hands clenched by his side, it was so obvious he wanted to touch him, his love language had always been touch.
"No, but I want to have it now," Kai retorted, glaring at him.
"Trust me, you don't."
"I do! Azure. I do!" Kai screamed. "What else are you keeping from me?!"
"You were r***d!" Azure yelled back.
Ah, that shut everyone up.
"You were r***d, the night those demons killed your parents."
"No, it was a demon. Only one, a male."
"No, Kai. There were two. A male and a female. The female r***d you. You were thirteen. She used her powers to get pregnant, I thought I'd go easy on her. She was an incubus. I didn't want you to have to go through so much. So I erased the demon. I let her give birth to Mint and then I killed her too."
"You knew about this is?" Kai asked, facing me.
"No, he didn't. All he knew was under some circumstances, he couldn't tell you he was your kid."
"Kai, I'm so sorry," Azure said, taking a step forward but Kai took two steps back. I watched Azure freeze for a second.
"You took my memories. You took all of them."
"I know I did and I'm sorry," Azure whispered, looking down.
"Can you take them away again?" Kai said. That made him look up at Kai.
"What?" he whispered. I wonder if Azure could feel how fast his heart was beating. I could hear it, pounding away.
"My memories. All of it. I don't want to remember."
"What's all of it?" Babump. Babump. Babump. Babump.
"This. The Sins. That night. The Knights. You. Mint."
"Wait, what? Me?" I said, and Kai looked at me.
"I'm sorry, kid. But I can't, I'm not your dad. If anything, he is," he said, and he pointed to Azure.
Azure, he was frozen in place. He licked his lips and I saw him, how hard he swallowed.
"If that's what you want, then okay," he said.
"Wait, let me, can I talk to Azure, real quick?" I said and Kai nodded as he left.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled, turning to glare at him.
"What?"
"You can't let him forget us!"
"It's what he wants."
"What about what you want?!"
"It's not my life, right now, Mint. It's his," he said, his voice calm. But I heard the little tremble.
"It's yours, too! Are you seriously going to let him forget us all? When finally, everything is out in the open?"
"I just told him he was r***d. The same f*****g day he watched his parents get murdered. I didn't even mention how he saw his unborn brother, fall out of his mother as she was mutilated. If he wants to forget. Then, I'm going to let him forget," he said.
"Then don't let him forget you. Be selfish for once, Azure. You quietly watched him, kept him safe all these years. He doesn't have the right to forget you!"
"He does! Mint. He does."
"What if you made him forget that he knew you were a knight?" I asked.
"No, Mint. You don't understand. When he found out, the look on his face. He hated me at that moment and he'll eventually find out again and I'm not having him look at me with that hatred again."
"So, you'd rather have him look at you as a complete stranger?"
"Yes."
“But you’re not strangers. It’s not fair to you! You’ll have to remember it all. You will still know you’re in love with him!”
“If Kai wants to forget about us, I’m going to make it happen.”
"Fine. Do whatever you want."
I stormed out but I heard him yell. "Don't leave. Take Yua at least!"
I stormed out of the apartment, I slowed down a few blocks away. f**k. The twins.
"You know, if you're going to follow me, the least you can do is walk beside me instead of behind me like some stalker,” I said.
I sighed, rubbing my hands together. I really should have at least stormed out wearing my coat. I was freezing.
Yua looked over at me and I scowled. "Don't give me that look," I said, and he put his hands up. I was shivering now but I was not about to go back to the apartment.
Yua shrugged his coat off and I watched him as he placed it on my shoulders. It was huge on me, felt more like a dress. But I was warm.
"Thanks," I grumbled.
"You are welcome," he said, his deep voice being the only thing I heard. Ah s**t.
"Mhm."
"Hey, Yua why do you never talk when we're with others," I asked and he shrugged.
He never spoke when we were with others. Ever. But occasionally when it was just the two of us, he'd say a few words.
"Why are you so angry?" he asked. I rolled my eyes at him. I saw the way he deflected.
"Azure he, he's raised me. I'm 16, he's raised me for 16 years of my life. Not once has he ever been selfish. At all. It was always what I needed, what Kai needed, but never what he needed."
"I see," he said. Ah, I liked Yua's voice, it calmed me down.
"And Kai! He's there asking Azure to erase his memories. Won't he see the effect that has on Azure? Azure loves him. He absolutely loves him. Azure is so in love with Kai, even a blind man can see it. Hell, even the f*****g demons know how much of an effect Kai has on Azure that they use him to get to Azure. I've seen the way Azure looks at Kai when he thinks no one is looking. So how can Kai ask him to erase all his memories? And how can he agree with it?"
"Don't you think it's because Azure wants what's best for Kai?"
"But Azure is the best thing for Kai. You know, I didn't see him but Church did, that night that Kai found out Azure was a demon and a knight of hell at that. And Kai told him to get out. He was a mess. And that's only when he thought Kai hated him, but now Kai's going to completely forget him. Yua, would you have the love of your life hate you or forget about you?"
"Neither."
"Okay, but if you had to choose."
"Forget."
"Why?"
He didn't reply and I shrugged. "Azure, he needs to be selfish. He needs to stop putting himself after others. He'll end up all alone and sad that's no way to live."
"We are knights of hell. That is exactly how we live."
"Sad?"
"Alone."
"But you have Feather. Yeah, he's foul-mouthed, short-tempered and murder is his solution to everything and I mean everything. He bumped into a street light and he tried to kill it. But you have each other. Just like the other four are always together. And you'll always have each other."
"Azure has not told you," he said after a while.
"Told me what?" I asked. "Yua, told me what?"
He looked around and sighed.
"The Seven are immortal. We, the knights, however, are not. A day will come when we will no longer be allowed to roam the Earth."
"So you'll be in hell. But you will be together," I said, I had stopped walking and now was looking up at him.
"No, Mint. We will not. We will be separated. The knights, together in hell, for too long, we would be too powerful. It’s like the seven archangels, they too are not allowed to roam the heavens for infinite. Just as the archangels aren't allowed to meet once their time is up, neither are the demons. We would be put in a house, in the void. Just as the Sins. Except we will not be allowed to meet. Maybe every 1000 years for a while."
"Are you seriously telling me you're going to leave me one day, too? That you and Azure, Nether, Feather, Cedar and Ocean will you all leave me one day? Yua, tell me you are joking please."
"I am sorry, Mint," he said.
"Yua, that's not answering my question. Don't leave me, please," I whispered.
"You have not said how it has affected you," he said instead.
"What?" I asked.
"About Kai," he said.
"What's there to say? He was fine with me when he knew I wasn't his kid and now he knows and he doesn't want me but that's not what I'm talking about, Yua. Please don't leave. Tell Azure to not leave, too. Please," I said.
"It is not our choice."
"What about Hell?"
"A new set of knights are usually brought in."
"Usually?" I said. I mean, that could have meant something right.
"Yes. Once a long time ago, the same knights reigned for twelve rebirths," he said.
"How?" I asked. This was definitely something. Right. This had to be something.
"We do not know. I think the only two people who know that are Lucifer and maybe God himself."
Ah, I was panicking. They would leave. They'd forget about me. I'd be left behind. I didn't want to. I was trying my best so why was I always left behind.
I hugged Yua. My hands were around his waist and I was clinging to him, but I didn't want him to leave. He couldn’t leave. Azure couldn’t leave, kai didn’t want me and now I was losing my other father, too?
I heard him sigh, as he hesitantly raised his arms and place his hands around my back.
"I am sorry, Mint," he said and I nodded.
There was no point getting angry at him, I knew that, but I was still-
"Church! Oh, my s**t. Church!"
"Church?" he said looking down at me and I nodded.
"Church and Nether," I said and the realisation hit his face.
He stepped back and I frowned at the loss of warmth.
"I, we need to go back. The apartment. I need to, I need to tell Church, Yua. Church, if you're all going to leave, Church needs to know. He needs to let go of Nether."
"Mint, you need to calm down."
"No, I can't. If you're going to leave I need to tell him. You don't get it, Yua. He's literally stuck to Nether. I know Church, he can't handle being left. He's he doesn't like being left alone."
"Mint, look at me," Yua said, as he grabbed my face between his hands.
"You're crying," he said.
"Yua. He can't get any more attached to Nether. He'll break when you all leave."
"Mint, do you not hear me. You are crying."
"Yua, don't leave me. Please, don't leave me."
"Mint, we do not know when we will rebirth. For all we know, we could rebirth 100 years from now."
"Or you could rebirth tomorrow! And we'll be left with memories and that's all the more pain! Because you will leave!"
"Mint, look at me."
"Yua, you can't leave. Please don't leave me."
"Mint, I am sorry."
"Well, if it isn't Mint." I had tears in my eyes so I couldn't see who it was. I rubbed my eyes and I saw the trio.
Oh f**k.
"Yua, let's go,” I said, grabbing his hand and trying to leave. But he wasn’t budging.
"No, no. Don't be dragging your boyfriend away," Patryk hissed
"He's not my boyfriend," I snapped.
"Oh, look he has balls," one of his lackeys retorted.
I grabbed Yua's hand to try and pull him away once again and we took like three steps before five guys literally appeared from the shadows.
Ah s**t.
I looked over at Yua and I couldn't really see much because my eyes were all swollen but I swear one of the males flashed red eyes.
Shit.
"Yua, do not do anything stupid. Feather will kill me if anything happens to you. We all know he wants to murder someone."
"Why isn't your boyfriend speaking. He scared shitless?" Patryk retorted.
"No, just piss off and take your demon friends with you. You really don't want to piss Yua off."
"No, I think we need to beat some sense into you."
One of his lackeys, well one of the demons, grabbed me and the other punched me hard in the stomach.
Shit.
"Yua, don't!" I hissed when his eyes flashed. He looked at me and he looked even angrier. Ah, f**k. Feather would kill me if Yua even got a scratch on him and there were eight of them and one of him.
"Yua. No. Calm down." f**k. How would I explain this to Nether?
Ah, he had changed. His charcoal black skin seemed to blend in with the night, the only way you could see him was because of his gold markings that seemed to be glowing.
"Hey, that's a Knight. You never said we'd have to f**k up a knight. You said a halfie," One of the demons hissed.
The demons let me go and I ran to Yua. I watched as the demons seemed to dissolve into the shadows.
“Why the f**k do you know a Knight of Hell?” Patryk hissed and I glared at him. He needed to f**k off.
"Yua, look at me," I said. He had his eyes glued on Patryk who was watching us. I turned to glare at him.
“You need to f**k off,” I snapped. He watched for a minute before his lackeys decided to drag him away.
“Yua, will you f*****g look at me!” I snapped, he looked down at me I got on my tiptoes and I put my hands on his cheeks. Feather had said, this helped Yua stay in touch with reality, whatever that meant and now I was glad he’d given me a what he called ‘ crash course on the being that is Yua’. Because it seemed to be working. I think. "You're going to change back and we're going to leave. You change and then we leave because in cause you haven't realised, I need to say bye to Kai before Azure erases his memory."
Yua didn't speak, but he inhaled and exhaled and his hair shrunk and his tattoos disappeared and his eyes went back to his pretty blue shade. He was so angry. But he looked calm. It was a weird sight, he looked calm, but I could feel the anger radiating from him.
"Are you okay, Mint?" he asked slowly and I swallowed a little. “No one can hurt you, Mint. You are important. So no one can hurt you.” Well, I ignored the heat that was rushing to my cheeks as I coughed a little. Now, I had to ask Feather what that meant.
"I am fine. Now, can you portal us to Azure's?"
He nodded. He did so and we were now standing outside the apartment.
"Don't leave," I whispered, as I grabbed onto the back of his shirt. "Please, don't leave me."
“If I could choose, I wouldn’t want to leave you, Mint.”
He gave me a small smile before he walked in.
Fuck. I'd f****d up. They were going to leave and I was attached and I knew Church was.
