Mint's PoV
"We don't know where Wrath is. The rest of the places are somewhat neutral. That's a shitty thing to promise," Feather deadpanned, glaring at me.
"Not really. Lust and Wrath have this weird friendship right, we know that. And we can also use that, to help us," Nether said.
"I'm telling you, Wrath does not care about what happens to me," Lust grumbled, there was something else in his voice, something hidden.
"That's not entirely true," Sloth grumbled. Lust ignored her.
"Do you think they could be in Hell?" Xavier asked. "Because apparently, Hell is real. And there are demons here. So, they could be in Hell, right?"
"Where are the other two?" I said looking around. They weren't here, Church and Mercy.
"Church is not so subtly avoiding Nether, so they went to get food," Xavier said.
Ahh, yes, that made sense.
"Well, Xavier, we are going to them."
"Oh, wait, Mint. No one answered my question," Xavier said as I grabbed his arm, rolling my eyes. He could have a crisis of faith when we weren’t trying to save the world. I was about to drag him out when Azure yelled for me.
"Are you not going to listen to me? I don't want you four out alone until we figure out what the Earth spit out," Azure said and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Tough," I said.
"Mint?"
"What now?" I said, looking at Azure.
He looked around and then sighed. "Follow me." I was confused, and a little annoyed, so I followed him back into his room
"What?" I said, and he looked at me after locking his door.
"Do you remember when you said you liked one of us?"
"Yes, I do. It wasn't that long ago," I muttered. And yes, I was still somewhat having an existential crisis about it. But I would definitely get over him.
"Right, yes. I was wondering, do you still like him?"
"How do you know it's a him?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. That was a dumb question to ask, I was aware but I really didn’t want to talk about him.
"Because all the knights are a dude? And you did say it was one of the knights."
"All the knights are dudes. Wow, sexist."
"No, you i***t, it's not."
"Yep, I do. As in, still like him, but calm down. I'm good at hiding my emotions. You won't even know who it is."
"Then why are you so clingy with Xavier?" Wait, what?
"What?" I said. "How am I being clingy with Xavier."
"I saw the way he had his arm around you," he said a small smirk dancing on his face. This fool.
"That was all friendly. We're friends. I think. I don't know he still scares me at times."
"Sure," he said and he had that tone to his voice stand so I didn't think he actually believed me.
"Okay, Azure. Okay, you believe what you want," I said and I rolled my eyes at him and I left. That was stupid.
"If you're not going to stay at home where it's safe, just protect yourself, okay. Protect yourself, if you feel any sort of weirdness with the Earth, tell us through the line. We'll be there the second we get it. Cover your heads and stay close to one another."
I nodded as I left. Xavier and I were somewhat friends, I think. I knew for a fact that hated me that was obvious but now I think we were friends you know with him being kidnapped by my uncles and all.
I walked out and Xavier was awkwardly stood around with the rest of the Knights and the two sins.
"Oh, thank god, Mint," he said when he saw me. He seemed to have released a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Feather gasped dramatically. "God!?
"Oh, thank Satan?" he asked instead and Feather nodded in agreement.
"Yes, much better that is. Well done."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed Xavier's arm.
"We're leaving, see you in a bit, idiots. And stop scaring my friends," I said and they all shrugged.
Lust said something and the others all had mixed reactions to whatever it was that came out of his mouth.
"So, why did you want to run out of there so quick?" Xavier asked once we were at a steady pace walking towards the cafe shop where the duo was. I had texted them.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did you want to stay with them?" I asked him and he scowled.
"Oh, f**k no. But you ran out of there real quick. It was pretty amusing,"
"Gee, thanks."
"No, I mean, are you not going to help them look for the rest of your aunts and uncles? You know, The Seven?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because chances are, they don't even know they're aunts and uncles."
"Yikes," he mumbled.
"Oh, that's not even the worst of it," I said and he snickered a little.
We lapsed into a comfortable silence and it was fine until when we arrived at the cafe.
"Hey, all the Knights were saying you liked one of them? Is it true?" f**k.
"Wow, they really can't keep their mouths shut. But, yeah. And no before you freak out, it's not i****t, it's complicated apparently.
And yes, I plan to get over him. And no, I would never actually do something about it."
"Then that's stupid. You're being stupid."
"What?" I asked quietly. I was being stupid? Me?
"You're wasting your time. Why do you even like him if you won't try anything?"
"I can't believe, you of all people are trying to tell me how to figure out my love life."
"Oh, what's that supposed to mean?" he hissed. "Did Mercy tell you something?"
"Oh, you know exactly what it means. Stay out of it. Where I put my effort and my time is my business. And no one else's."
"You're going to end up heartbroken, you know," he whispered, he seemed to have calmed down again. I know, he was probably just looking out for me.
"I know," I replied. "But I can't help it. I have these overwhelming feelings for him."
"Will you tell me who it is?" he asked.
"How do I know, you won't let it slip on who it is or you won't go to him and tell him?"
"One, I'm not stupid and two, no. I want to see them suffer."
"I- those are my uncles-not-uncles, you know," I said and he shrugged.
"Fine, fine. But will you?"
My heart was beating incredibly fast and it was stupid of it to do so. All I had to do was say his name that was it.
"It's Yua."
"Who?" he said.
"Yua," I repeated.
"Which one's that?" he asked, dumbfound.
"The one behind Feather," I said and he still looked at me as if I'd grown another head.
"Who?"
"The really tall one that never speaks and is always next to the blue-skinned one," I deadpanned and realisation crossed his face. Oh, so now he understood.
"Ohhh, him!"
"Yes," I said. and he snickered a little.
"Why do you like him of all people? I really thought it'd be the nice one, er, Cedar. Or even Feather himself."
"I don't know. I guess after spending so much with them, I grew used to them and then spending the majority of two months really close with them, I started to like him. So much."
"Does he know you like him?"
"No. And I don't want him to. Please don't say anything."
"I won't," he said, giving me a reassuring smile.
"Thank you," I said and he nodded a little.
"You two have been stood there like lemons, for the last 5 minutes," Mercy deadpanned as she walked out of the cafe. She handed us the food that they had gotten for us.
"We were having a meaningful conversation," I replied and Church snorted.
"Without me? How dare you," he said, in a posh accent.
"If I threw you down those stairs, how many bones would you break?" Mercy deadpanned. Church grinned as he turned to stare at her.
"Want me to test it out?" he asked and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Church, no," I said, and he pouted.
"You never let me do anything fun," he mumbled.
"Is this is how you're trying to cope.? It's f*****g stupid," I deadpanned and he looked at me all offended.
"Cope with what?" Xavier asked, looking between the two of us.
"Ohh, it's a long story," I said. I wasn't sure if he wanted the twins to know.
"No, it's not. I have abandonment issues, like major ones and they all just admitted they're going to leave one day and to make it worse, they don't even know when. I also have this fat crush on Nether."
"Wow," Xavier said and he looked at his sister who was frowning.
"Wait. But won't it hurt now? For all you know, they could be here for years and you're not letting yourself get close because they'll leave someday. Everyone leaves," she said, looking at Church. He thought about what she said.
"But they will leave. And I'm not watching someone else I love leave me. Not when I can stop it," he said.
"By never getting close to him?" Xavier said.
"Yes. Exactly.
"Oh," Xavier said.
"So, yeah," I said. "That."
"I have a question," Church said, as he stopped walking and ran a little in front of us, he turned around so he was facing us three.
"Are you two going to stick with us from now on?"
"I thought we have had this conversation already," Mercy said. She looked up from her phone to look at him.
"Wait, we have?" Church asked and I rolled my eyes.
"Wait, wow, I'm questioning if we have or not. Thanks a lot," I mumbled. Had we?
"Wait, I'm confused. I thought we had had this conversation already too," Xavier said.
"Boys," she said as she rolled her eyes. "Yes, we're sticking with you from now on."
"I feel like we don't have much of a choice, to be honest," Xavier said and I snickered a little.
"Oh, no. You do have a choice and all but if you decided not to. We'll erase your memories and by 'we' I mean Azure," I said.
"I don't think he likes us very much," Xavier grumbled and Church patted his arm much to Xavier's dismay.
"Azure doesn't like anyone that's not Kai and Mint. You get used to it," he said.
I frowned is that how Church felt around Azure? "Church, that's not true. Azure does like you. He thinks of you as another kid he never wanted."
"You think he didn't want you?" he asked and I groaned. Wow, we were really getting nowhere with this.
"Come on, we're going back to my apartment and-"
Someone tapped my shoulder and I screamed. We all turned around to see Yua standing there.
"Yua! Don't sneak up on us like that!" I yelled and he smiled awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“Someone should put a bell on him,” Church said. “So we can actually hear him.”
"What's up?" I asked and he just motioned for us to follow him. So we did. He made a portal and made the other three go in first. I was about to go in but he grabbed my hand.
"Hmm, what's up?" I asked.
"I am sorry."
I sighed a little. "I know, Yua. As you said, you can't help it."
He smiled a little and I smiled back. f**k.
“And you did say, if it was up to you, you would stay. I find comfort in that.”
“I mean it, too,” he said.
“I know you do.”
So we got in together and appeared outside the apartment. The three were waiting, looking very unimpressed.
"What the f**k were you doing. Having a mother's meeting?" Xavier deadpanned and I rolled my eyes at him.
Yua walked in and I looked over at Xavier who made kissing faces. “I will end you,” I hissed as I walked in. The other three gave each other looks before walking in too.
"What the f**k is going on here?" Xavier asked.
I, too, wanted to know what the f**k was going on. Because this was chaos.
Feather was sitting on Lust. literally, Lust was sprawled on the ground and Feather was sitting on his back and Lust was cursing him out. Nether was floating like normal, but he wasn’t in one place, he was zooming around the room. I looked at Church, I could tell he wanted to go to Nether and join in but he stood beside me. Cedar was drinking wine watching this all happen. Lust was screaming, Sloth was asleep but she was hanging upside down like a bat and Ocean was watching Nether. And Azure was just staring at a wall.
"Oh, this is a f*****g mess," Church said, as he looked around.
"What did we miss?" Mercy asked as she walked over to Sloth to poke her cheek.
Cedar saw us, he walked over to us, still holding a glass of wine. He looked so small compared to Xavier who absolutely towered over us.
"This whole thing started because Lust called Feather a twink," he said, as he took a sip of his wine. He turned back around to look at the chaos.
Church hid behind Xavier. "Feather is a twink."
"Don't make me f*****g kill you, Church," Feather hissed, as he stopped arguing with Lust to point a knife at Church as he glared at him.
"I'd like to see you f*****g try. I'd kill you before you even got within 6 feet of him," Nether deadpanned, he had stopped above Feather and Lust, glaring at Feather.
"Can everyone sit down," I yelled.
"OI! Shut the f**k up and sit the f**k down!" Mercy screamed and I s**t you not, when I said everyone released whatever it was they were doing and all say down on the ground and stared at her.
"Oh, that was amazing," Sloth said, it looked like she'd woken up. "Yeah, you're going to have to teach me how to do that. That will definitely come in handy."
"The Seven," I said. "Did you find any?"
"About that, we have good news and bad. Which do you want first?" Cedar asked as he took a sip of his wine. He turned back around to stare at us.
"Give us the bad," I said.
"We found them and they got away," he said.
"Now, give us the good news."
"There is no good news. I lied. We found Envy and the little s**t got away."
"How. There's two of The Seven and the 6 f*****g Knights," Xavier deadpanned.
"Well, in case you didn't realise, we sent Yua to you so you wouldn't get hurt and well we needed you back here, too. We weren't too sure if you'd come back," Feather deadpanned.
"You're right, we're all leaving," Church said.
"We are?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Church, wait," Nether said.
"No."
"Church," I said and he glared at me.
"Don't you dare side with him, Mint."
"I'm not taking sides, but-"
"f**k you," he hissed and then he stormed out. Mercy sighed as she followed after him. Xavier waited for me.
"Bye guys. Just try and find the Sins. We'll stay safe. Send Yua if you think we're in danger. He should be able to find me," I said and then we left.
Xavier and I didn't speak.
"Who did Church lose?" Xavier asked as we walked behind Church and Mercy.
I shrugged. "I don't know. He doesn't speak about him. But I saw his picture once."
"Oh."
"Now, we need to do the work. We have school tomorrow."
"f**k. I forgot about work what with the Sin's out and trying to destroy the little bit of humanity left," he said and I snorted.
"We'll be fine," I said.
"But I don't want to do my work," he whined like a tiny three-year-old.
"Tough luck, you're going to have to do it. You need to graduate so we can all thrive together," I said and he snorted.
"Sure."
"Now, come on, let's go to my apartment."
"What about Mercy and Church?" he said looking a little confused.
"They'll already be there," I said and he rolled his eyes at me warily. I'm telling you they would be, I knew Church and I knew he'd always come to me when he got into an argument, even if it was with me.
~*~
"So, coming to school today wasn't smart," I said, eyeing the other three who were sitting next to me. With Xavier on my right and Mercy and Church on my left.
"I swear, we saw him at the apartment when we were all tied up. Because your uncles kidnapped us," Mercy hissed, glaring at me.
Oh, she would never let me live this down.
Michelle turned around, raising an eyebrow. She may have heard our conversation.
"Turn the f**k around before I break your f*****g teeth," Mercy hissed, her eyes widened and she simply nodded as she turned around.
“Damn,” Church said. “Why do you hate Michelle so much?”
“Because she stole my f*****g money.”
Michelle turned around to glare at her. “Finders keeper bitch.”
Mercy lunged at her and Church and I barely held her back.
“Turn around,” Xavier said, glaring at her.
"I mean, at least Azure doesn't have to see him," I said.
"So," Kai began. He was standing in front of the class, and he was watching us. He had his priest clothes on. "I was asked to come in and teach you how to defend yourselves, in case you ever came in contact with a demon."
The class began to whisper to each other.
"Shouldn't you teach us to protect ourselves against angels? They're the bigger threat than demons," Kacy said. See, she had the right idea. The class seemed to agree.
"What exactly is he going to tell us. Because I swear, Sloth is my friend now and I'm not about to go and destroy my first girl friend," Mercy mumbled to me and I snorted a little.
"Wow, thanks. Nice to know you won't destroy my aunt," I said.
Well. I guess he wasn't about to teach us how to protect ourselves against angels. Because according to Azure, he thought angels were the good guys when clearly they weren't. I know, it was odd, people were scared of angels and demons that were correct. But, everyone knew that angels were the bad guys.
Demons liked being mischievous, that was in their nature. But, everyone knew, if you didn't annoy a demon, they wouldn't hurt you. But Angels? They thrived in chaos. They loved it. Loved creating it, they loved watching the world burn.
“I think you should teach us about Angels and Demons. Demons aren’t the bad ones. It’s Angels,” Mathew said.
The class seemed to agree.
“Now why do you think that?” Kai asked.
“My next-door neighbour is a demon. And she’s one of the nicest beings I know,” Mathew said. “She told me she met an Angel once and because of it, she lost her eye. The angel knew it overpowered her and it still took her eye.”
“Maybe she was lying,” Kai said.
“The scar was gold,” he deadpanned.
When an Angel harmed someone and if it left a scar, the scar would be gold. And if a demon harmed someone the scar would be black.
“I’ve seen so many demons with gold scars,” Xavier said. “I’ve even seen humans with them. But I think I’ve seen someone with a black scar twice.”
“Exactly,” Mercy said. “So I think you should teach us how to protect ourselves from Angels and not demons.”
“We are getting off-topic hare,” Kai said. “I have been brought in to teach you how to protect yourselves against demons, not angels.”
“Well, then you’re no use here,” Mathew said. I saw the way Kai flinched at that. I frowned a little. He may have forgotten about me but Kai was still my father.
“That’s too far Mathew,” I said.
"So I'm going to teach you all a very basic word. It's very simple and if you ever suspect that someone is a demon all you say is Christo and the person will flinch."
I f*****g flinched. That was such a weird feeling.
Kai must have noticed this as he glared at me. "You, in the corner stand up."
I sighed as I stood up.
"Yes?" I said.
"You flinched."
"Yes, I know."
"It's because he's a halfie," Sean said, and I rolled my eyes. Ah, f*****g Sean. If I had to choose who my mortal enemy was I would say it was Sean.
"That's not anything new."
"Who's your demon parent?" Kai asked, oh, this was so weird. It was Kai, and Kai was asking me who my demon parent was.
"Oh, well it used to be my mother, but she's dead so now it's my dad? I think. I don't know, it's a very complicated situation."
Mercy, Xavier and Church all snickered and I glared at them. I was trying to be serious, here.
"The two boys and girl giggling stand up." Church stood up but the other two didn't, so we had to pull them up.
"What are all your names?"
"I'm Rihanna, that's Amza, we have Jin and Cody," Mercy said and I snickered. She'd used famous people's names.
"Actually, from left to right it's Church, Mercy, Mint and Xavier," Mr Hugo said and Xavier glared at him. Kiss ass.
"Interesting. Do you have contact with your demonic side of the family?" What kind of questions were these.
"Yes. They're raising me."
"Why? What about your human parent?"
"Oh, you mean his dad? He's what you call a deadbeat," Church snapped. "Yeah, he's a very selfish human. Very immature. Never thought about how his actions would affect those around him."
"Church," I said, and he ignored me.
"Right all four of you, sit down. Anyway, as I was saying you suspect a demon, say, Christo," again I flinched. "To catch a demon. Saying Christo," another flinch. "Will always make a demon flinch, no matter what level they are. However, the lower the demon in rank, the more it hurts.”
"I might just use it when your uncles piss me off," Xavier mused, and I rolled my eyes at him.
“How do you know what rank a demon is?” Kacy asked as she put her hand up.
“That’s a good question. By the colour of their eyes. The lowest demons have yellow eyes, then it’s neon blue, pink, gold. Lucifer’s children, however, their eyes depend. One of his children has purple eyes while another has black eyes. With no white parts.” That was Yua, Yua was the one with black eyes. How did he know what colour Yua’s eyes were?
"Mint, do you know what level your father is? And what your mother was?"
I shrugged. I didn't know.
"What levels are the Knights of Hell?" Mercy asked as she popped a loud bubble with the gum she was chewing.
"Well, since they are the sons of Lucifer, they are level 6, with Lucifer himself being level 7."
"Oh, then my dad is a level 6," I said. "Does that mean all my aunts and uncles are level 6?"
"Hey, priest. Who else is a level 6?" Xavier asked. Ah, you should have seen the look in his eyes. He was terrified. I felt bad, but then I didn't, because f**k him.
"All of Lucifers children, whether they are of his blood or not. As well as the four horsemen. Is your father a Knight, a Sin or an Offspring?" Huh, that was odd, he didn’t ask if he could be a horseman.
"Knight. I had his blood when I was a baby. My demon mother was killed by my Knight father. She was a b***h. And then the Knight raised me as his own. I guess I am technically his own 'cause I do have his blood in me."
He stopped for a minute and eyed me. And then he continued rambling about the history of demons and how it was before the spilt.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw movement at the door.
