Chapter 9 <3

After a few more minutes of tense silence, Kai sighed and nodded, his chin hitting Yua’s hands. “Fine. I won’t say it. But get this beast off of me. Or I will say it just to spite you all.” Yua looked over to Feather, who stared at Kai for a few more seconds before he nodded slowly, and Yua removed his hands. In his human form, he still kept his height, almost 6’6, though in his demon form, he was still taller. Yua stepped back and went over to where Feather had been standing. He took his spot beside the man once more. Azure watched as Kai looked around his room at the blood and the corpses, and his face slowly turned redder and redder before he stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door shut behind him. Mint and Church stared at one another, frowning slightly. “Where’s he going? This is his home,” Mint muttered to Church, who shrugged as they looked out the door where Kai had stormed out. “Maybe he needed air?” Church asked. “Maybe he’s going to throw himself into oncoming traffic?” Nether added, and both boys looked up at the man in confusion before Church, who had not so gently elbowed him, glared at him. “Maybe, don’t.” He came back in a few moments later, his silk pyjamas still covered in blood and his face bright red. Azure wondered whether it was from anger about the whole situation, or maybe he was just embarrassed when he had stormed out covered in blood, when he lived here, and the rest were just crashing. But then Azure realised it wasn’t embarrassment when Kai felt embarrassed, his face turned red, and so did his ears. But with his hair in a high ponytail, Azure could see the man’s ears, and they were not red, not even flushed from the heat within the apartment, so he was just angry. At him, and possibly everything that had happened today, but most importantly, he was sure they would not return to how things used to be. “I need you all to get out,” Kai snapped after a few seconds of staring at them. “Inlcuding you two,” he said, pointing to the two boys, who had remained in the corner with Nether beside them. “I need some time, some space. Just go. And do something about the blood and corpses.” “I can get some of the demons up,” Cedar responded, raising his hand. “They’ll have it all cleaned up in seconds.” Kai nodded warily. Cedar remained quiet, and though he made some interesting expressions, Azure wondered if that was how he looked when he talked to someone through the mental link. Cedar smiled at the end. “They’ll be here soon.” “How-” Kai didn’t finish his sentence because a white and blue portal opened up in the middle of the room, and from within it came a group of five demons, all wearing bright white hazmat suits. One tripped over one of the corpses and cursed something in a language only the knights understood. Two demons dragged out the corpses by the legs, muttering, “Excuse me” “and pardon me”. While the other two waved some sort of thing around, and all the blood was sucked into the machine, while the other demon restored the broken furniture, and within minutes, the entire place was back to how it had been before. Azure stared at the place. It had gotten rid of any traces of the blood, the shattered vase had been restored, and nothing was out of place, just as Kai had liked it. “Thanks,” Kai said, staring at the demons. They nodded and walked back through the portal, and they were gone just as fast as they had appeared. He turned to look at the others blankly. “Get out.” Nether ushered the boys to where Azure opened a portal, but Mint shook his head. “We’d rather walk,” he said, grabbing Church by the arm, who was trying to peer into the portal. “We’ll see you at home.” The demons nodded, eyeing the two boys before walking through the portal. Azure sighed as they arrived in his apartment's hallway, and Feather groaned. “We have got to stop letting you create the portals,” he muttered. “You’re in shambles, and so are your portals.” “Cedar?” came a confused voice. They all turned around, comically slow to see two humans standing there. The male, who had called Cedar, had brown skin, dark hair and surprisingly bright blue eyes. The woman next to him, too, had brown skin, long dark hair and bright blue eyes. They appeared to be siblings, and the woman had looked up from her phone to frown at them. “Oh, hey, Cedar.” Xavier awkwardly waved, and Feather groaned. “You need to stop being in control.” “They’re so going to kill us,” Nether muttered as he began hatching how to amend this. “We better get on with it,” Azure muttered. ~*~
