Chapter 6

Quick A/N – Sorry for not updating. Was working as a gift wrapper and the hours were hectic so now I'm back, oh and happy new year.

"Run! Run! Run Rayna!" the ten year old boy screamed and pulled her. Her little legs tired, but still they continued to do as she told.

"Their gaining." She cried out to him.

"Run Rayna! Don't look back." He ordered but just they had escaped, freedom was snatched just as fast as it had appeared as if the gods were playing a cruel joke.

She was snatched away from him. "Nick Run!" she screamed and cried out but a hand came down and clamped down on her mouth.

The man then pulled back and released a hiss of pain as Rayna bit down on his palm and then his fist came down on her like a force of god and she went falling down a pit of darkness and utter nothingness.

"RAYNA! RAYNA!" Anne shook her roughly trying to awaken her out of the nightmare or to Rayna, a memory...

"Shhh, shh. It's just a dream." Anne cooed and rocked her back and forth like a mother would a child. Anne held her as that was the only thing she could do. Rayna hated feeling vulnerable but at this point the hurt, the fear, the pain was too great to overcome and she resented the fact it left her crippled and scarred...

But all scares fade with time.

...

Tate awoke to an unbearable pain emanating from his heart.

The only thought going through his head was...

Rayna

Where was she?

Was she okay?

Tate rushed out of bed and shifted into his beast and raced to find his mate. He had to make sure that she was okay, even if it meant exposing himself.

...

Rayna walked outside and as she strolled towards the end of the balcony, she tugged her jersey closer as the wind invaded her space and she listened attentively as the midnight creatures roamed freely.

But another creature lurked beneath the shadows, watching, learning, admiring every move with such inquisitive beastly eyes.

Beastly it looked...

Beastly it was...

A beast that's eyes held both love and adoration with a doting nature.

"Rayna, come inside. It's going to rain soon." Emilio informed her and ushered her inside. The beast growled softly. Its tongue licked its sharp teeth, getting ready to kill, such violent delights have violent ends...

...

"You had another nightmare?"

"Yes, but this time was different. It was a memory." I confessed. Dr Norris nodded, her blonde hair moved with her.

"But weren't the others memories too?" she asked.

"Yes but this time was different. I felt it. I remembered him, the boy. It was so familiar. Unlike all the other dreams they vanished but not this one. I've never felt fear like this before." I ranted.

"And how do you feel about this memory. Why is it so important if you've denied that part of your life?" She asked.

"Because of that boy, he made me feel safe and like everything was okay. I felt so much of love for him. Love I've never experienced before." I confessed and closed my eyes, and rested my head down on the sofa.

"And you think that having him in your life will somehow complete you?" she asked and for the first time in all our sessions, she put her pen down and looked at me. She looked at me, not as a patient but as a friend, with such caring eyes.

"I hope." I answered honestly. She went to say something but her alarm went off indicating the end of our session.

"It seems like our time is over. Till next time doctor." I stood and smooth my dress.

"Ray- Miss Queen, as a therapist I think you need to come to terms of never remembering the past and move on... but as a friend I think you shouldn't lose hope." She smiled. I nodded and left the room.

Tate's Point Of View

...

"So you went to spy on her, alone, at the dead of night...with no back up...on private land where there could be... oh I don't know CAMERA'S!" Danny growled and hit the back of my head. I snarled at the disrespect.

"Don't forget who's Alpha here." I reminded her and was reassured but a whimper.

"Rayna is my mate. I felt her distress, so what if I went to check on her. If there were any cameras then that's one of those things. The main focus is Rayna, your Alpha Female." I reminded her of the facts.

Danny whimpered and looked down along with everyone else in the room. Colt looked up after a while which just showed his alpha blood but Danielle kept her eyes on the ground.

"Everyone except Danielle and Colton leave us." I ordered to which they rushed out, egger to obey.

"Danielle look at me." I said, this time my voice softer and more tender this time. She shook her head.

"Danny, you know I don't like yelling at you but you know you cant disrespect me especially in front of the pact." I explained and lifted her head up to me. She whimpered but leaned into me as if hiding from the world.

"I'm sorry." She whispered in to my chest.

"It's okay." I reassured her and caressed her head. Colt frowned and I knew what he was thinking. It was as if Danny had no alpha blood in her at all and that made her even more vulnerable. We could only hope that her mate was someone in a high position so that they could protect her and in a couple of days it would be revealed, her mate.

She was turning sixteen and would meet her mate. Thank the goddess that there would only be claiming when she fully comes of age. Now I have the challenge of not killing her mate...

Being a big brother is so hard...
