CHAPTER 16

Cassian Staring blankly at the ruined dress, I felt guilty for putting her in this situation. Couldn't help much but of course, I saved the cup that fell from her hands. Putting it back on the desk, and noticed how she was glaring at me. “Still, you are that brat, you will never change.” she gritted while adjusting her dress and wiping the stain from the tissue paper. “Maybe I got this in my genes. Anyway, my question is unanswered.” I started while focusing on her. She was hesitant, I felt it. With her trembling hands, she put the damp tissue paper in the small dustbin placed near her chair. “I don’t know who you are talking about?” she replied after a pause of five seconds, and that was enough for me to get her. “Really? Why did it take so long to reply?” I frowned while observing her every move. She stayed silent and started bugging herself with paperworks. I got up from my chair and snatched the papers from her hands, staring deep in her eyes where she made the move to avert her gaze instead of looking into mine. “Why? Why are you forcing yourself too much? I know you better, Abigail! Come on, at least tell me everything you know, I deserve to know.” i made the request, kind of begging her. She sighed before putting her glasses down on the table, and gestured to me to take the seat in front of her. I waited as she mentioned and there she went. “That day, it was raining heavily, you can say a thunderstorm affected the whole city. A powerful lighting struck the ground and the impact was felt in various diameters. The power was cut to avoid further disaster. The sun had hid under the black clouds and the darkness covered the sky. We pray for that day to pass. The rain did get lighter but never stopped.” She was taking time as things were too much for her to describe, “I was in charge of the orphanage that day and I was patrolling the area, checking the facilities and security. When everything was on point, I went to get the main door locked. There I found a man, dressed in ancient royal clothing and covered from a cape. He was drenched and holding a small cloth. It was a baby wrapped in that clothing. When I noticed him and his struggle, I reached him to help him out. At first, he was reluctant to get help but when I assured him, he explained a few things to me and I took you in my care. He was your only relative but due to some circumstances, he had to drop you here. And then, you know the rest of your story. How i raised you and what you had done in your life till now.`` She ended up narrating her part of the story. I was still perplexed and anger was rising inside me, “if he is my relative, as he claimed as my guardian, where the hell he was all these years? And now, why did he show up?” I demanded an answer. “I am sorry, but that’s not my part of telling you anything. Neither do I know much about him nor have I ever tried to.” she replied to me in a stance. I nodded my head in understatement. To get this information, I have to find this guardian of mine. He is the only one who can give me my answers. “Where can I find him? Is there a way?” I tried asking her. She shook her head, “I wish I could help you but I am sorry, my son. Maybe this can help you!” She got up and took out a wooden box from the locked drawer, where she always kept her valuable stuff. She presented me with the box and I opened it. There was a light greenish cloth which is now hardened and abraded, but there was something printed on it, a painting or a symbol in golden embroidery. I stared and embraced the piece of clothing, while there were doubts erupting in my mind. “What is this for?” I asked her. “This was the cloth you were wrapped in and brought here, Cassian.” She explained it to me. I was really touched to see something that belongs to my parents. A ray of hope and a symbol on it definitely have a meaning. “Cassian!” Abigail called me, “take care of it. I am giving this to you because your life is going to change now, you might need to find your purpose and meaning of your existence here. You are made to accomplish something big.” she said to me. “How do you do that? All my life, I have seen or lived in misery. How can you be so positive?” I had doubts about my own confidence. “Because I raised you, and I know what blood flows in your veins. You are different from others because you are unique. you are made to do unique things.”  “Thanks, I will keep this in mind.” I smiled slightly and left the place after hugging Sister Abigail. Now, I have to find Alarous and ask him some questions that are running in my mind. About my family, and everything. If he is my guardian, someone has appointed to be one. But how did I find him? This place is too big and where does he live? That will be a lot of work. I was on my way back to my home when I noticed familiar cars, and I immediately recognised them and their owners. Not far enough, I saw him standing with five other old gang mates. His signature lollipop in his mouth as he made his move towards me. My fist curled up and I immediately put the cloth piece in my jacket. “What the f**k is your problem, Otis?” I was glaring at his ugly face. He smirked before replying to me, “glad to see you alive, again. What do you eat, you son of b***h? Numerous times I have tried to kill you but you always come back. Had nine lives like a black cat?” he said and the others with him laughed. “Maybe but at least i don’t have nine p*****s to get f****d everywhere like you w***e mom, Otis.” i offended him because i really wanted him to taste his own medicine. “You fucker! You involved my mom, I will kill you right now.” he was fuming in anger. “We shall see….” I said while snapping my neck muscles and glaring at him.
