CHAPTER 6

1654 Words
The violet sky was covered with the conflicted clouds, shaking and roaring the sound of the thunders. The lighting suddenly made the local bypassers rush inside the cafe shops or other convenient places to hide them from the storm approaching towards New York City. within a few seconds, the first cloud cried and dropped the rain from his chest. Following the others, the raindrops fell like tiny but strong magnets to the ground. The strong wind was harsh and full of dust which settled down to the ground after the heavy pouring from the clouds. The hot summer day turned into a dark night when the clouds blocked the sun from appearing and lit the city with the thunderbolt lightning around the corners of the metropolis. The rush of the local crowd halted and it rained for more than ever, which actually felt like a crying of a woman from up above the sky. The rains have happened many times but it was entirely different this time. The vibe it had was full of depressing emotions. Gloomy and sad, the sky appeared. All of a sudden, the huge lightning appeared in the sky and fell on the ground with a massive force, shaking and streaming the core beneath the earth. The clapping sound of the thunder roared to the darkest corner of the city. The spot where the lightning struck on the ground, a figure appeared from the dust and landed on his back, carrying a child on his chest. The rounds of roaring thunder scared the infant and he cried louder. Confused and helpless, the man stood on his feet and the edge of his own sentimentals, he dropped on his knees watching his surroundings. The place was alienated for him, and how he was supposed to survive. He didn’t have any understanding of the enemies of this place, how is he going to protect the future king? Lonely and alone sounded the same but hitted differently to him. Carrying the responsibility of the heir, he took a few steps forward to glance and spotted a place where he could keep himself safe. Entering in the local shop, the crowd put their eyes on him, and why not? He appeared different from them. The baby was still crying which made him bothered even more. He had on idea how to make him stop crying. He cooed and patted the baby but nothing worked. A lady behind the crowd watched him pensively and approached to help. “Excuse me, sir, but it seems like you are a new father. Your baby is hungry and needs to be fed.” she replied politely after observing the situation. Alarous realised that the infant was fed in the morning and of course, he needs milk to survive. “Thank you, ma’am but I don't have milk with me.” he said in a hope. “Where is his mother, she will breastfeed him. Infants need to drink mother’s milk.” The lady replied to him. Alarous was confused and worried. He doesn’t know what to do now. “Is there any problem?” the lady asked him. “Actually…” Alarous replied after a while, “this infant was abandoned by his mother.” he lied to save the truth. “What? Then where did you find him? Did you try to look for the mother?” the lady spoke loudly which gained attention from other people around them. Alarous was panting but realised that he needed to come up with a story before anyone raised their suspicions on him. “Yes, I did but I didn't find her. I tried to look for her in random streets here but got nothing. This baby was crying so I took it with me. How could I leave him in a dumpster.” Alarous was shaking but trying his best to be bold. “Oh my god! Who could be such an irresponsible woman to leave her child like this.” one of the people behind them said. “I don’t understand why people gave birth in the first place when you didn’t want to raise them. At Least don’t leave them like this. Poor baby!” the crowd was murmuring. “Sir, i think you should take the police’s help. They will try to find his mother.” the lady suggested to Alarous. Alarous was silent, he didn’t know what to do now. This place was new and he didn’t even know what timezone they had entered. How things work here. He was helpless. “Maybe this person kidnapped this child and tried to pretend to be innocent. Who knows?” the owner was watching the whole incident from the beginning and raised his suspicions. “No, I didn't kidnap this child.” Alarous jabbed quickly. “Then where did you find him? We will check the footage from the camera and try to locate his mother. I'm sure this will help.” the owner announced and everyone agreed. Alarous got the hint that his lie will be exposed sooner so he rushed outside the shop in the heavy rain. The owner of the shop and the others shouted and followed him but Alarous was a warrior and escaped from their sight. The owner of the shop informed the police immediately and sooner, the police started finding the suspect. Alarous was hiding in the shadows but unfortunately, the rain became lighter and soon the police will find him. He was scared of this new place, new people. He was getting this hard to trust the people, and the incident earlier proved it that he is on his own to keep them self. After a while, he was watching everything getting normal and stole a packet of milk from a vendor to feed the young prince. As soon as the drop of the milk touched the tongue, the little baby drank it quickly. He was starving. When his tummy got full, the baby went to sleep peaceful which made Alarous at peace as well. But his vc  worries were following him. The sirens and flashing lights were looking for him. Running for a long time has exhausted his body, making him give up on his will.  His breaths were shaky and his hands were trembling, the fear of the forgien land terrified his core. What made his efforts more difficult was to carry the infant with him. Hunger and thirst was aching for it, the ey bags under his hazel eye were remarking him working tirelessly on the days of war. His thoughts went back to the battlefield. Thinking about the war was more terrifying. His curiosity to know what was happening to his queen, made him lose his mind. He can’t live with sunk in guilt and regret, though the order and the kingdom he was serving for was bigger than any of his ambition. No matter what will happen at the war, he has to keep the young Prince alive till the day he takes back his crown. The dirty feets and subconscious mind were taking him to the other side of the town, where his eyes fell on a woman wearing a black gown, and covered her head with the same fabric. The sign of a cross was shining higher on the top of the tower as he approached the building to observe it more precisely. “Mister, how can i help you?” the woman, a nun, asked Alarous. “What is this place?” ALarous asked without glancing at her. She looked perplexed but replied, “this is a church and building to it’s right is an orphanage. Are you looking for someone?” she inquired a but more. Alarous finally looked at her, “what is an orphanage? What place is this exactly, I mean the town, the name?” Alarous was getting curious. The nun seemed confused but replied politely to him, “this is the town of East Hebrook. Are you a traveller, need some directions?” The nun was getting a little suspicious as well. “NO! Yes!! I am a traveller, can you tell me which is the safest place here? I came from a far place and I am carrying this child with me. He is hungry, I need to keep him safe.” Alarous explained to the nun. “Oh! Are you the father of the child?” she asked for more information. “No! His father died from a fatal injury.” “Where is the mother?” The nun was looking at the baby with pity eyes. “She is no longer with him.” Alarous said in a depressing voice. The nun was shocked and suggested to Alarous, “this baby is an orphan, so sad, but we will take care of him in our orphanage. You can leave him here. Are you a relative of his?” she asked further. Something flashed in his mind and Alarous replied, “no! I am no relative to him.” “Oh, i see. I will take him inside from here, he will be fed and taken care of well.” she said. Alarous’s heartbroken to see the young prince being taken by a stranger but maybe he will be better here than being with him. His eyes fell on the children of different age groups and he realised that he made the right choice for him. When he handed her the baby, he tore a part of his royal emblem from the cloth and kept it to himself. “One day, little one, we will meet and then i will tell you the tale of the bravest queen.” Alarous whispered to himself before returning to the shadows.
