The hazy views and the cloudy sounds were distracting me from my peaceful sleep. I don’t know where I stood right now, but it seems like I knew it somehow. The old familiar towering castles and tall buildings are painted in a magnificent red colour, it was like a symbolic colour of the place. There were small villages surrounding the big castle and there were these people around me, giant looking people, those who scared me when i was just a kid, but now i stood in this place, looking exactly like them, in fact better than them. When my eyes surveyed the crimson sky, I saw the dragons flying in the infinity like they own it. They were so mesmerising, yet unreal.
Those hollow eyes of the trespassers looked directly into my soul, trying to terrify me to the core, but my blood won’t let me surrender to it. It was boiling under my veins and I felt the hotness on my skin, my skin was fuming as I saw the flames erupting out from my bones.
Dancing over my shoulders, I felt like a damn volcano. Created to destroy everything which comes in my way.
Who am i? This question never left my mind since then.
I sighed and gasped loudly to get every air in my lungs. I was scared and confused and when I woke up, I was drenched in my own sweat. My eyes were blinded by the lights but sooner they adjusted to the environment around me. I was a bit shocked waking up in a hospital bed because, as far as i could remember, my best… wait, my ex-b***h best friend betrayed me and they almost left me to die on the deserted road.
They broke me to the bones and I saw the blood dripping from my nose. I saw that light at the end of the day and assumed, almost, that I would die in my sleep, when the darkness would take over me.
But how did I get here? Who brought me here? I was perplexed as so many things were running in my mind, messing with my sanity. Don’t know anything about what happened after I passed out but there was this face whose picture, but a blurred one, pasted in my mind. I tried but I can’t remember his face somewhere, but it felt like I had seen this person and I am sure I saw him when I closed my eyes on that day, submitting to the darkness.
The train of my thoughts halted when a nurse entered the hospital room. She was a bit shocked to see me but smiled gradually after a while. She approached me and checked my vitals, I was quietly watching her and suddenly, she looked into my eyes.
“It’s good to see that you are awake. We were worried about you.” she showed her concern but why?
“Why? Why were you worried and how did I get here?” i asked her starightforwardly because wasting time on stupid converstaion is not my cup of tea.
“You were out for three days and the doctor gave an ultimatum of seventy two hours.” She explained to me further.
“For what?” i asked her.
“For your life. You have severe injuries around your shoulder and head, we thought you are not going to make it, but that’s why god is here, making miracles happen.`` She was cheerful on my recovery.
“Okay! But how did i get here?” I was still confused as I was lying on that deserted road.
Even if someone thought of helping me, it wouldn’t leave me with enough time.
“We don’t know!” she looked kind of paralysed on my query.
“You don’t know? Really? That;s how your hospital works? Doesn’t care about keeping records of people who came with patients. There must be a record of that person who admitted me here.'' I was stunned to hear that but I was determined to find out who brought me here.
At least, I could thank that person later when our paths cross.
“I am sorry, but i really don’t know. If you say, I will ask the receptionist to find out the records for you.” she added and I nodded at her suggestion.
She left me and went to inform the senior doctor of this hospital. I was lying on the bed and couldn’t stop thinking about all the possibi;lities of me in this hospital. Everything appears hazy. I did hear some random noises as I tried to focus more of that day but still, everything is unclear to me.
Puffin out the biggest yawn, I waited for the records. Meanwhile, the doctor on round visited me and checked the reports. His team was diagnosing me.
“You are fine! That’s unbelievable!!!” the doctor remarked on my recovery.
“Why is it unbelievable?” I was irritated and wanted to go back.
“Your bones are healed within three days. Normally, it takes forty days to a few months for a bone to be normal after a fracture. So you are special.” the doctor informed me and I frowned.
“You probably diagnosed me wrong. Something that heals after over a month is healed inside my body within a span of three days? Do i look like a god or his blood is flowing in my veins?” I scoffed and I shrugged my shoulders in disbelief.
The doctor shrugged his shoulders too and replied, “i think we should do some tests to find out what’s inside your body.” he suggested.
I was thinking deeply about that, “okay! I would like to know what makes me so special.” I agreed and gave them my blood for tests.
Later, I was shifted into a normal hospital room from the intensive care unit, for which I was thankful to them from the bottom of my heart, as the horrible smell of chemicals and drugs was making me nauseated. The room was small but the window beside my bed was huge and i could see the whole city from it.
In the night, the city lights appeared like stars decorated the earth as some festival was going on. A place which is full of people dead from the inside but very much alive from the outside, for the outer world, to show each other how good their life is.
How pathetic it sounds. The human acting like they are god of their own life but the one who is keeping his eyes on everyone of them had planned a different afte for them. We are all just a puppet to him. He will make us do all the things we like or we don’t, whether we want to do or not.
I couldn’t remember how long I was staring at the window until a cough distracted me and I turned my head in the direction. That nurse was standing at the door and smiled at me.
Her smile, I found it hideous somehow. There was something about her that made me stiff, something trying to tell me but I couldn't catch it.
“There is no data for the person who brought you here.” she informed me but i found her answer unsatisfactory.
“Are you sure? Did you check all the details?” i was still on edge to find out a little information about the person.
“Yeah! But don’t worry about it. Your bills are paid.” she informed me.
“What?” I was stunned to the core, who paid my bills?
“Who did that?” i demanded an answer from her.
“It was paid by your insurance money.” she said.
My heart was racing faster because I never did my own insurance and now all these things will blow my mind. I was hesitant yet helpless but I couldn't put up a fight with this old knowledge.
Old or not but gold for someone. My fists were clenched thinking about these facts. What is happening actually? Am I in a dream or something else. I didn/t have parents, relatives or anyone known here so who paid my bills. This thought is going to give me creeps.
