14: Shopping

I stretched out of bed, feeling better because I had enough rest, "I'll never drink again," I mumbled to myself.

I jutted downstairs with a thought in mind, I needed to look for work, however when I reached the kitchen I didn't expect to find Dominic there,

" Hello," his gruff voice resounded in my ear. My whole body stiffed and smiled tightly at him.

" Good.. morning," I swallowed. He nodded his response and continued to drink what smelt like dark coffee while I fidgeted with my legs as though an invisible force held me in place.

As Dominic sipped his coffee in the most sophisticated manner, his gaze didn't leave me.

" Do you have something to say?" He inquired. I cleared my throat and rushed to the coffee maker to myself a latte but for some reason, my hands were quivering.

"f**k," I muttered. Dominic stood up and came to my side, getting the mug from my hands and making my beverage.

" Here,"

I nodded as I got it, our fingers grazed and my body heat up at the slight contact of our skin.

" How are you feeling?"

" Good,"

I watched him turn on the cooker and get some items from the refrigerator for a healthy breakfast.

Dominic started working on making eggs while I watched in awe. Even doing a simple act as making breakfast, he still looked imposing and beautiful.

" Do you like cheese?" He looked up at me, my eyes widened.

Was he making me breakfast? I twisted my neck to check if there is anyone in the house, but it was just the two of us.

"Answer?" His voice was not rough but it made me flinch a little and my wolf snarled. Dominic squinted his eyes at me but I bite my lips.

" Stop doing that," he whispered.

" Doing what?" I whispered. His gaze was intense and I swallowed thickly, I got more nervous with how his gaze lingered on my lips and I continued to nibble on it.

" Ashley, I said don't do that!" His tone raised, I covered my ears when he slammed his fist on the counter, making me jump.

Alpha Russel inhaled loudly, trying to calm his nerves and when he spoke, his voice took a gentler tone.

" Stop with the lip biting,"

" Sorry,"

" Don't apologize," his voice was annoyed now. What's with the moods.

" Do you like cheese on your sandwich?" he repeated the earlier question.

" Yes," I answered with a smile.

" Why are you smiling?" Alpha Russel seemed curious.

"I didn't know you could cook," I said, He nodded.

A few minutes later, he pushed a plate in front of me.

" Eat... all of it," it was more like an order.

" Yes, Sir," I almost chuckled but I noticed he froze. Did I say something wrong?

His eyes darkened for a second, was it lust?

Dominic quickly cleared his throat and turned away from me.

" I noticed you don't have enough clothing and I'm free. I'll take you shopping," he said and exit the room before I could respond.

I wore my pants and tank top, pairing it with some kicks then went outside to meet the alpha.

He was leaning against his nice car, he didn't look up to acknowledge me or anything, instead went straight to the driver's seat.

I opened the door and got inside, it smelt so fresh and wonderful, the car seats were leather and comfortable.

" Buckle up," Alpha Russel said, his gaze was straight ahead.

The car ride was intense and silent, there was something between us that I couldn't explain but every time he glanced at me, my body hit up and my heart accelerated against my chest.

" Are you alright?" His voice echoed in my ears.

" Yes," my voice was quiet, as I stole glances at him.

" Your heart..." He trailed and I clutched it tightly.

" I know," Is all I said yet my heart had a thousand words to say, one of them was that being close to him did things to me, things I didn't want to feel but I bit my lips to stop the words from escaping, then reminded myself that he didn't like it when I did.

As soon as we reached the mall, I practically jumped out of the car as though it burnt. I took in a huge amount of air while fanning myself with my fingers, damn that was hot.

I turned to see why he was taking so long in the car but Dominic was suddenly so close to me, he gave me a small smile and I was flustered.

" Hmm," he hummed as he walked past me.

The mall had a lot of people who gave me the stinky eye especially the ladies who sneered my way but a glare from Alpha Russel made them scurry away.

We entered a nice store where the alpha said to pick whatever I wanted, I was not big on shopping so I got a few items, simple jeans, and shirts.

" Ma'am, this is the latest dress," the saleswoman told me, Dominic instructed her to help me pick out clothes.

I eyed the sequin dress she was holding but I didn't like it.

" Um, it's too explicit for my liking," I was honest, I don't wear such dresses anymore unless I'm undercover for a mission or at the club.

" Then this one!" A voice said cheerfully.

We turned towards the voice, and a beautiful, tall woman was standing close to me. She had raven hair that shaped her pretty smooth face.

She looked very elegant and so bossy in her office pantsuit and heels, she was holding out a dark red dress that I ignored to look at her, I eyed the lady from head to toe before my eyes met hers.

" Um, um," I stammered, the pretty lady still had a smile on her face, showing me her perfect-shaped white teeth.

"Come on, it will be perfect for you!" She encouraged me, slowly I took the dress from her hands.

" Now, go on and change," she escorted me to the changing room.

I took off my clothes and put them on, wow, I touched the dress on me, it had soft fabric and was tight, showcasing every curve on my body but covered everything, thank goodness.

The woman was waiting for me outside, as soon as I swung the door open, her focus was me and she whistled lowly,

" Girl, those curves," I felt heat rush to my cheek, and I tried to hide it with my hands.

She pushed back the strands of hair that was covering half of my face,

" You're truly beautiful, Ashley, " I narrowed my gaze on her

" How do you know my name?" I questioned in a hard tone but remembered she might be a pack member so I have to act nice.

" You are the lone wolf living with the grumpy alpha right?" I didn't answer because I was lost for words.

" Now, let's show the alpha," I shook my head, no, but the lady held my wrist and started taking me to where the grumpy alpha was.

" Dominic! " She was screaming his name the whole store and seemed too familiar with him.

I wondered who she was, as soon as we got to the alpha, he abruptly stood up from his seat, he swallowed audibly as he looked at me, top to bottom.

" Ashley," he breathed.
