A Simple Plan

Dane Nelson’s pov It felt like everything had gone to sh!t in less than five minutes. Yet Dane had been with his parents for an hour talking about a proper way to apologize to Chloe. Dane and his parents had gone back and forth discussing what was okay, and what was unacceptable. He still thought he had every right to speak with Chloe, even if she had a restraining order. Words had gotten them into this situation. It seemed fair that he could talk his way out of this, but his parents disagreed. Stan commented, “We love her like the daughter we never had, but there was no going back in time to fix everything that had gone wrong. What a shame.” Dane self reflected at his dad’s statement. Perhaps he shouldn’t have cheated and lied to Chloe. But they were so happy, well he did his best to make her happy. By best he meant he tried his best to break her spirit with deceit. Before Dane mentioned it Chloe didn’t know about the cheating and lying, she wasn’t unhappy, and if he had kept his secrets to himself he wouldn’t be in this situation. Loretta sighed before saying, “I don’t think gestures or words will help improve your standing with Chloe. You violated her trust and her body. You need to give her space and leave her alone. If or when she wants an audience with you she will reach out. And because you have proven how incapable you are of boundaries and respect, you need to follow her lead. Show her you can change son.” Loretta stated as she patted Dane’s hand. He would be d@mned if Chloe thought she was free of him, and the punishment he had in store for her. There was no way she would get away with embarrassing him at the club last night and in front of his parents today. Not to mention that slvt already had a sob on her arm not long after Dane dumped her. She should be groveling at his feet. Begging him to give her another chance to take her back. Even knowing he had been the one to end things between them, he didn’t accept the finality of their relationship. He had put too much time and effort into their relationship to just let her go. When he wanted her, she needed to come back to him. He wasn’t finished with her that’s for sure and he planned to make sure everyone knew it as a matter fact. For his parents sake he would fake like he had gotten over her, but this wasn’t the end and he planned to circle back to her when he had more time. The doctor arrived to discharge Stan shortly after the confrontation. “Stan you are recovering well, I have listed care instructions moving forward, I will review them with you before you go. First make sure you eat food that is properly prepared. You want to stay away from excessively greasy foods for the next two days. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids, 6-8 cups of water per day. Alcoholic beverages in moderation, again stay hydrated and finally 6-8 hours of sleep everyday for the next few days.” “I am not going to put you on a diet, but please make sure to include fruits and vegetables a couple of times daily. You are free to go when you are ready unless you have questions.” Dr. Robert looked at Stan to confirm he understood and Stan nodded his head as he removed his cardigan from the bed and looked around the room to make sure he didn’t leave anything. “I’ve been ready to leave Doc!” Stan giggled. Loretta took the care instructions from Dr. Robert and they made their way to the lobby. Will, their driver was waiting to drive them to their favorite restaurant for a decent meal. Loretta fussed a bit over some of the items Stan tried to order from the menu. Dane decided to sneak his father a few French fries while his mother wasn’t looking. He also shared a bit of his dessert. A few bites wasn’t too bad. Dane reasoned that it wasn’t enough to send him back to the hospital. After the meal Will drove them home. The Nelson’s played cards while chatting about Dane’s time at college, his grades, ambitions, family vacations, the new lady in his life, whether it was serious and he would bring her home sometime soon. The time had flew by and before long daylight was gone, and the crickets were chirping. Dane’s parents kissed and hugged him good night and parted ways to their master bedroom. It was time. Dane needed to think. He always did his best thinking after a few shots, so he grabbed a bottle of vodka and a shot glass to bring to his bedroom. It took around three shots before he had his mental break through. He decided he couldn’t fake the receipts, it would eventually be proven lies. He continued to think that maybe he could say he was robbed while he was away, and everything of value was stolen. However, the timing seemed too convenient, and could still lead his parents to look for answers. After the third shot he started to think about what would throw someone completely off his trail. Tragedy…people usually let go of things when they lose a loved one or someone is involved in a life altering event, some kind of accident with injuries would solve his problems. He needed to come up with a plan to trick everyone to believe he was vulnerable and helpless to prevent his parents asking questions about the college fees. But he didn’t want to get too injured, just a few scrapes and bruises, but he could pretend he was in worst shape and milk the situation. He put his plan into motion. His first step was to message Bryant to make sure he would be in the dorms tomorrow when he arrived. Next was to make sure to drive back to his parent’s house instead of flying back. He would make the most of his time while driving home with the paperwork his parents had demanded. It wasn’t the best plan, but it was a simple plan! Perhaps he might even factor in using this as an opportunity to guilt trip Chloe into reconciling their relationship…oh the possibilities. If everything went according to plan he would have everyone eating out of the palm of his hand!
