Sitting down at the counter per Anna's request, she had a fruit salad already prepared for me. placing a plate of raw fish slices in front of Cora, she tore into it with little notice of us.
"So you're the one everyone's been talking about. I'm so excited it was us who got to find you. My brother is one of the best fighters, and I know he will have you fighting like a pro in no time."
Looking between the siblings for a moment, I began to panic.
"But... but I am not a fighter. I am a teacher. I do not believe in violence."
looking at me as if I had said something unnatural they looked at each other with concern, and Nicholas finally vocalized what they were both thinking.
"You have no choice."
Frantic at the idea I stood from my stool with a quickness and began running for the exit.
After a few moments, I thought I stood a chance at my freedom until I slammed right into a familiar person I had been just running from.
Falling onto my rear end, I let out a groan of protest.
"Listen, I am not your chosen one. You have got the wrong girl."
scooping me up in his arms, Nicholas remained quiet as he carried me back to the room I had woken up in.
Once he placed me down, he spoke quickly. "Your training begins in the morning. I suggest you get some rest."
Watching Cora climb her way up the stone bed frame, she curled herself next to my head and fell asleep.
My mind was still racing with all the new information. I could not grasp why, on earth, someone like me would have such a huge role to play in the future of the world as we knew it.
I lay in bed trying to sleep, but my mind would show me no rest after what felt like forever of tossing and turning. I finally was able to retreat into slumber.
Dreams of destruction consumed me, and screams echoed in my mind.
The smell of fire permeated all around me.
A large dragon Black as night landed in front of me roaring it came as close to me as it could. An evil chuckle filled my mind.
"Soon, you will be ours, and we will take over."
Just as the beast went to eat me whole, I woke screaming.
Cora stared at me. Hearing her she tried to soothe me. It was a dream of what was to come should we fail.
Nick broke into my room sword in hand, ready for a fight.
Looking at Cora and me, he relaxed himself.
Noticing he had forgotten his shirt, and muscles in all the right places without being obnoxiously over done, I lost my train of thought.
Noticing my stares, he gave a slight grin of amusement, I will meet you in the kitchen for breakfast, and then we will begin training you.
Ugh!
lying back down, my hands blocked out the morning lights from my eyes.
Cora piped up, greeting me and the morning.
"Get ready, Sasha. we have a busy day."
noticing a slight change in her voice, I sat up to see Cora had gotten slightly bigger and had formed tiny wings in her sleep.
"Cora! you have wings, and you're larger. How did this happen?"
Looking herself over, she had no explanation.
With a shrug, I walked into the bathroom to freshen up.
A bundle of clothes was waiting for me.
After a quick shower, I dawned on the black tee and Camando pants. The clothes made me feel as if I was in the military, which I guess I now was.
leaving the bathroom, I inclined my head indicating to Cora I was ready.
Entering the kitchen, Nicholas and Anna were waiting for us.
Plates were waiting for us as I began to eat. Anna noticed coras growth.
"Ahh, I see the fish helped." Looking at me, she began her first lesson.
Dragons' growth is based on a few things such as diet, exercise, and, of course, time.
"I will help teach you on caring for your dragon while Nicky will teach you how to fight and ride."
Giving his younger sister a sneer at the nickname she chose to use, he gave me a glare, sniffling the giggle growing in my throat, "Follow me."
Jumping from my seat, I followed my new companion down a string of tunnels. coming to a dead end, he stretched out his arm, activating a hidden switch. The wall began to move, opening to a large training field.
Staring in disbelief at the pure size of the space hidden in a mountain.
Coming to the conclusion, that this is an illusion or a bizarre dream I search to find Nicholas arriving at a weapons display.
Jogging over, he removed the jacket he had on lying it next to the verity of weapons.
Smirking, he calmed my obvious panic. "Don't worry. You're not ready for those yet. Today, we will begin with hand-to-hand combat. There is no point in knowing how to use a weapon if you can't even hold your own."
Walking me to an area where we would not collide with equipment, he began teaching me basic blocks and how to form basic combo punches.
After a few hours of missing blocks or getting a surprise combo, I was sore but beginning to anticipate his moves better.
Noticing he was going to throw a right upper cut instincts took over.
Grabbing his arm, I threw out my hip and flipped him on his arse.
Startled at my unexpected success, I offered him help up.
Within a second, I was flipped over, and he had me pinned.
Staring into my eyes, he gave me a lesson I'd do well to remember.
"During a real battle, you can not feel empathy for your enemy, for if they had your power, they would not share that same sentiment. When presented with the upper hand in battle, you keep it."
