He was so close to my face that I could feel his breath. His eyes drew me in like diving into the ocean and the mysteries that live in the depths.
Lifting me to my feet, I was given a nod of approval.
While Nicholas was walking up to the display, I took a moment to catch my breath.
How did I do that?
And why do I feel like this?
Walking back over to me, I was handed a wooden sword. Unable to meet his eyes, I took the wooden weapon and took a stance.
Within moments, I received multiple hits across my body.
Stopping, I could feel his stare, When you get distracted, you die.
Letting out a fury of attacks mustering my embarrassment, I finally met his eyes and began dodging and blocking the blows.
We carried on like this for a few more hours.
After my body was covered with multiple bruises.
Finally, as I felt I would collapse from exhaustion and pain, he came to collect my weapon.
"That's it for today go talk with Anna."
Taking my sword, he placed them back in their spot on the display. Following him back towards the main area, I headed for the kitchen where Anna was normally hanging out. Nicholas took off to a different area of the cave.
Entering the kitchen, Anna was talking to herself as normal while dragons slept off in the corner. Turning to the sound of my entrance, she lit up with excitement.
"Oh hey, how was your first day of training? Oh my, you look like you took a beating. You must have shown promise if he had let you out this early."
I stared at Anna with a bewildered look. "You call that early. he kicked my arse for hours..."
Anna giggled and made a happy explanation, "If you were unable to do basic blocks and attacks, he would have you practicing till dawn."
Sitting down on the stool, Anna brought me an ice pack.
"I know I'm supposed to teach you about dragons but how about we call it an early day and you go soak in a hot bath might help you feel better I'll have clothes waiting for you on the chair when you're done."
Looking at Anna with pleading eyes, I happily agreed.
Just as I stood, Cora awoke and joined me. entering my room, I began to step off my dirty clothes as I walked to the bathroom. down to my underwear, I turned the hot water all the way on.
Stripping myself of the last of my clothing, I eased myself down into the hot water.
Laying my head back, I closed my eyes and willed my pain away. Images of my handsomely brooding teacher kept coming to the forefront of my mind.
I tried to ignore my thoughts of Nicholas. I must have fallen asleep because before I knew it, the water was cool instead of scalding hot.
Pulling the drain, I slowly stood from my now cold bath and wrapped myself with an oversized towel that hung up waiting for me. Walking out to the bedroom there was a night dress waiting for me as promised. Just as I was about to drop my towel, I heard a noise behind me. Turning, I found Nicholas sitting in the chair behind me, I caught him staring at my butt. standing with urgency, I did my best to look viciously angry.
"Excuse me, I didn't realize you were sitting there."
He said nothing in return, he just stood up from his chair, taking a step towards me, a chill raced up my spine. Tracing my arm slowly with his fingertips, he spoke softly. "I came here to give you a lesson for our sparing tomorrow."
He dropped his fingers to the top of the towel. My heart began to race.
"You can't allow anything to distract you." capturing my eyes with his I was all but hypnotized by his stare. "I am being easy on you those who wish to cause you harm and I will not always be around to protect you no matter how hard I try, you need to be ready for when I'm not."
His finger rose to under my chin, and he held my gaze for another moment before leaning over and retrieving my gown. placing it in my free hand, he turned to leave. before shutting the door, he left me with one last comment. "You did well today. Oh, and Anna left you a surprise in the closet."
He pointed towards a door on the opposite side of the room.
After he left the room, I quickly threw on the night gown and went to investigate my surprise.
Opening the door to a large walk-in closet that was organized by training clothes, bed clothes, normal clothes, and a couple of formal gowns. In the center was a set of armor fitted as if personally tailored for me.
Walking back out of the closet, I went and sat next to Cora.
“Do you think I can do this?”
She sat up and looked at me as if staring straight through me.
"I know it is you. We have been waiting for Sasha. You just need to believe in yourself as we do."
"It seems as if Nicholas has taken an interest in you."
Looking at Cora in embarrassment, I could feel the blush taking over my cheeks.
"I have no clue what you are talking about. He was telling me what I needed to work on. He is my gaurdian as everyone keeps putting it, using fully exaggerated air quotations." Rolling my eyes, I crawled into my bed and waited to sleep. My body desperately craved.
Cora continued to ask questions about my so-called gaurdian. I was never big on the idea of needing a man to save me.
Deep down, I couldn't stand the idea of him getting hurt.
darkness finally pulled me into its embraces.
Nicholas filled my dreams, his hands on my body, his lips close to mine. Before my dream could escalate any further, he disappeared into darkness...
