Dragons

"The dark riders would hunt down families of other riders and slaughter them in an attempt to rid the world of dragons that were not loyal to their cause." "You must be a survivor of their attacks." Walking towards the egg that sat on a velvet pillow in front of the fireplace, I was entranced by it. "This egg is your partner. Once it hatches, it will grow rapidly and only respond to you. You alone will have the ability to harness its magic and fly with it." "Why is your dragon smaller than normal dragons?" I regretted asking my question as it left my lips. "Bluegon is not a fighting dragon, nor is he ment for regular flying. He is a guardian dragon ment to tend eggs, but don't let his size now fool you. His special ability is to change sizes as he chooses." I noticed my tee and jeans were replaced by a green night dress. Elegant as it was beautiful adorned with modest sleeves that came to my wrist. Staring at him almost accusingly, my host held up his hands in surrender. "I did not change you, my sister Did. She thought you would be more comfortable in fresh clothes." Standing, I slowly approached him and my Egg, asking questions with each step. "Why me?Who are you? What have I got to do with any of this? I am an orphan. I do volunteer work, and I am nothing special. I am not some savior of the world. I am a nobody." With what I could have mistaken for compassion, he stared into my eyes to show he was speaking the truth. "I do not know why it was you who was chosen for this path. All I know is it is you we have been searching for." "My name is Nicholas. My family has guarded this place for centuries. With each new generation, we are given specific instructions that our dragons can sense the one to save us and will bring them here one day and when that day comes, we are to be ready to help you, train you. gaurd you." "I mean you no harm.Bluegon had picked up your scent and took off. It wasn't till he returned with you that I understood what was going on." "Only the one from the prophecy would be able to understand a dragon that is not paired to them. Blue is a nest Dragon and has the ability to communicate with riders within his nest." "However, you were able to communicate without even accessing your own dragon." Slowly reaching for my hand, he placed his other hand on my back and led me to my egg. Placing my hand on the egg, he whispered into my ear. " You are the one ment to save us all, and this is your partner, trust in your dragon." The egg began to flash in rhythm with my heartbeat and the voice that had been intruding my mind returned. Repeating a request that whispered in my mind. "Take the egg outside." As if possessed, I took the egg into my hands. Cradling it in my arms, I began walking towards the mouth of the cave. Retracing my way out, Nicholas followed me, studying my behavior. Finally reaching the exit, I made my way out from behind the waterfall and down a different path. After a few moments of walking, we came to a small clearing. Hearing the voice again, it instructed me to place it in the sunlight. Setting it down, a melody began to corrupt my mind, and a hum came from my lips. The egg began to shake and rock. Singing a song in a tongue, not my own, the egg began to crack. With a bright flash of light, the egg exploded! A small purple scaled dragon was floating just above the ground. Reaching my hand out, it almost seemed to sense me. Tilting its head into my hand, I could feel a connection immediately. A young girl's voice was now in my head. "Hi, my name is Cora, and I am your new partner." Still in a state of shock, I introduced myself. "Hello. I am Sasha. "Hey, Sasha, any chance there is food around here? I'm starving." Looking at Nicholas in amusement and confusion, I relayed Cora's message. With a slight curl of his lip, he gestured to me to follow him.My new partner crawled up my body until she came to rest on my shoulder. Arriving at the entrance of the cave, Nicholas asked us if we would prefer to join him in the kitchen or return to our sleeping quarters and him bring us something momentarily. Before I had a chance to speak, Cora entered my mind asking to go to the kitchen. With a simple shrug, I accepted his offer to join him. As we walked through the main entrance, Bluegon approached. He could sense the arrival of a new dragon and was interested in meeting her. Hearing them introduce themselves, they seem to have been hitting it off better than i was with Nicholas. Staring out of the corner of my eyes, I tried to study him. He seemed to be angry all the time.Although I would probably be cranky too if I was stuck in a cave my whole life. Continuing on to the kitchen, etched completely of stone, the counters and cabinets were seemless, in awe of the details, and yet it's simplicity I was taken back. A young blonde girl stood near the sink, humming a familiar tune. Turning to see who was behind her, she began jumping up and down in excitement. "She's awake. Why didn't you tell me she was awake she must be starving, and oh my goodness, is that your dragon it is so cute." Giggling at the youngsters enthusiasm, I looked to Nicholas for an introduction. "Sasha, this is my little sister Anna she is energetic..." She looked to be around fourteen years in age. She had a simplistic beauty with freckles. Ana had blue eyes like her brother but seemed more people friendly.
