"Don't worry, I'm on board with your plan. I need Charlie back," I assured the friends I had just walked in on.
Before we could continue planning a way to get Charlie and I back together, Charlie walked into the room. As soon as she saw me in the room, she walked right back out. I instinctually went to follow her, but Jordan stopped me. Instead, Maia went after her.
Things continued on like this for several days. Every time the four of us managed to be alone to discuss a plan, Charlie would show up. She would never stay in the same room as me, except if Blaire, her human shield, was over. To say Blaire was protective of Charlie would be an understatement. While I liked and respected her, Blaire would bark at me any time I even tried to get close to Charlie. It was infuriating.
My friends were trying so desperately to be impartial, but I could tell it was difficult for them. Even though I knew they wanted Charlie and I to get back together, it was also clear that they were on Charlie’s side. I lost their trust in doing what I did. While Maia and Amber never verbalized it, Jordan did. I didn’t just need to win back Charlie’s trust; I needed to gain back my friends’ trust, too.
Quinn, Hakim, Erys, Rudy, and Gavyn finally came after the weekend. It was nice to spend time with them. It was especially relieving to have more people to spend time with when the girls were spending time with Charlie. I knew that she needed their support because of what I did to her. I just wished it didn’t have to feel like a competition for their attention. Thankfully, the guys were more than supportive of us all.
“Noah, can we talk?” Gavyn asked me as we were on our way to film.
It was the first time we had been alone since everything happened. I wasn’t sure how to feel about him. On one hand, what he did was cruel. On the other hand, our breakup, no matter how messy, worked out for the best, because it gave me the opportunity to recognize my feelings for Charlie.
“Sure,” I was hesitant.
“I know I was a jerk to you, and I’m sorry. Can we still be friends?"
"Of course. Thanks for the apology," I was ready to forgive him and move on.
Filming the music video was fun. While Charlie and Rudy were filming their scenes, we all enjoyed goofing around. We brought our shenanigans on set with us; all of our scenes were just of us having a good time. I was able to take this time to bond with my friends and bandmates, which was something I missed.
“Hey, Noah,” Amber whispered in my ear as we finished filming for the day, “Maia came up with the plan. She’ll tell you when the three of us are alone.”
As if on cue, Jordan whisked Charlie away towards the house. The boys made their way back to their hotel. It was the perfect timing. Amber beckoned Maia over. We sat in the sand, away from the set, where I eagerly pushed Maia to tell me the plan.
“So, we'll recreate your date on the beach the day as soon as we finish filming," Maia said.
"Do you think Charlie would agree to come?" I questioned
"Don't worry, I have a solution. You and Amber will prepare everything on the beach while Jordan and I get Charlie ready and bring her to the beach. Then we'll leave you two alone."
"You're the best," I smiled and hugged her.
Before I knew it, our last day of filming came. As Charlie was finishing her final scenes, Amber and I prepared pizza and Nutella sandwiches. We made our way to the beach when we received a text from Jordan that Charlie was done and on her way back. We made sure not to cross paths as we made sure to find the perfect spot. I couldn’t find a rock quite like in Miami, but I did find a nice alcove.
"You look so cute when you're excited," Amber told me as we set up.
I giggled and replied, "I can't help it, I can't wait to be with Charlie again!"
As I mentioned this, Amber's smile faded.
"What's wrong?" I asked her as we sat down in the sand together.
"Nothing," she said quickly as she gave me a fake smile.
"You can tell me anything," I said softly as I wrapped my arms around her.
Amber sighed.
"I wish I could tell you, but I can't. It'll ruin everything."
Knowing that there wasn't really anything that I could do to help, I kissed her forehead and said, "I love you. I hope you'll be okay."
“Really?” Charlie’s voice pierced through the air, "You recreate our first date together, but for Amber?"
"It's not what it looks like," I started, yet she interjected.
"Stop it. I'm done.”
