From the moment Clement walked into the company the next day he knew Levi wasn't there. The man had run away again. Running away wasn't the problem anymore. The problem now was the why? Why was Levi so keen on avoiding him?
Couldn't he tell him what was wrong? First he ran away from the infirmary without a reason, was he such a bad mate that he wouldn't understand what Levi was going through or the reason why didn't he just reject him and break the bond if he didn't want him anymore?
"Ma'am, this is an emergency. I'm sure you can remember me from yesterday but I forgot to give Mr. King important documents, and he told me he won't be here today, can you tell me where I can find him? I know it's not a policy but please I'm desperate" said Clement, his eyes wide really playing a part of a desperate client. He already knew the woman liked him and would do anything to get on his good books, So, he used that to his advantage.
"Ow, Mr. Black. You're correct he's not here today, but because I know business is important not only to you but him. I will give you an address to his private club. But please don't tell anyone I'm the one who gave it to you" she smiled seductively writing the address down.
It was a small win but Clement knew there was still so many things to conquer, his mate was stubborn. He smiled, blowing the woman a kiss, and wink before matching out of the building, the woman ogling at his mascular back licking her lips, blushing red.
"Trace, take me to the address immediately" said Clement the moment he got in the car, Trace was the appointed driver for the rest of his journey.
Jason had lots of companies he looked after, including taking over some of Chris's projects while he was the alpha since none of his sons wanted to. They all had their own things they wanted to achieve on their own,and their father was pleased with the news, especially when Dominic started acting like a real alpha.
"I thought you were attending the meeting in the building. The alpha is not going to be happy about this beta Clement." Said Trace looking at him in the rare-view mirror.
"Just drive, and leave Jason to me, your job is to drive me around, so do it " he didn't mean to snap at the man, but the thought of his mate was driving him Crazy.
The car stopped at the building that looked like it was a normal workplace but the scent of other shifters hit him immediately with the sound of music, and the scent of his mate lingering in the air, and it made him believe he was in the right place.
"Wait for me, I don't know how long I'm going to take inside, So relax, in the meantime" to got out of the car, and was welcomed by the two big men at the door. From their big stature, and the warm air around them, he could tell they were dragons not only dragons but ancient ones.
"Your invitation code?" Said the one with golden blonde hair, and light grey eyes that had a glint of green, showing off his reptilian eyes.
"I don't understand, I just came here to see my m..Mr. King" he caught himself before he could slip up and tell them Levi was his mate.
"No code, no entry. This is not a candy story, Alpha" said the one with Jett black hair, black eyes and a golden glint in his eyes. He was definitely checking him out. He could see it and the man was not subtle about it.
"Actually, it's Beta. Can you just tell Mr. King that Mr. Black is here for him? It's about the alpha king.
"No. This is not a pack, Beta Black. Being alpha or beta doesn't mean s**t in the city. So you can go back to our little cocooned life, and leave us city folks alone" said the golden blonde guy, smirking he was testing him, and he could tell.
"His with me" said a voice from behind. The voice was firm, rough, and commanding making Clement smile, it had been so long, since he last saw him.
"Byron, are you sure you're with this beta guy? He doesn't even know what he's walking into. The man here will eat him alive."
"Paul, he's my brother, I'm sure" he answered nonchalant, shocking the big dragon.
"Come brother let's go, and explain to me how come you are in the city and never told me about it." The guys swiped the card and big black and red doors opened revealing only darkness, but even from there you could easily smell he scent of alcohol, s*x, and shifters. so early in the morning
"What is this place?"
"Why do you come to a place you have no knowledge of?"
"Because I was looking for someone?"
"Yeah, Levi I know he owns this place" he said nonchalantly like he didn't just reveal that he had known Levi's whereabouts before him.
"Byron?" He growled twisting his arms angrily. If he had told him, maybe they would have solved their problems a long time ago.
The man squirmed at his touch trying to get away, but Clement was stronger, he trained everyday for most of his life while Byron read most of his.
"Clement, let go, violence never solved anything, and you know why I didn't tell you, he didn't want you to find him." Clement let go at his words, it hurt him so much that Levi didn't want him. The man had shown him enough times he didn't want to be with him so why was he still running after him?
"But he's my mate?" He almost whimpered and it will have been strange for a big man like him to do but he couldn't help it.
"Not everything is as it seems, let's go get a drink to loosen you up, you're going to need it, for what's really inside" and it was true.
The moment they got in the loud room, he was welcomed by dense air, arousal, body grinding on bodies, and the mixture of so many auras it was all too much, and getting under his skin, he really needed something to calm him and his wolf down.
"f**k, how do you calm yourself down?" He muttered under his breath but knew Byron was going to hear him nonetheless.
"A strong glass of whiskey and a pinch of wolfbane" the words shocked Clement
Byron was always the cautious brother, and knew the dangers of wolfbane, heck he was the one who cautioned them about it since they were children, how to spot it in the drink and it's odourless scent.
"Don't look at me like that, you haven't Seen a ghost, and you haven't asked the most important question I thought you would have asked by now." He rolled his green eyes sitting at the golden bar.
"And what is that?" Clement was so preoccupied he didn't even realise that this was not a normal bar, but an LGBT shifters club.
"Nevermind, can we get two whiskeys with a little poison?" he said to the bartender who smiled, nodding before he went to prepare the drinks.
"Fine, where can I find Levi? I really need to speak to him" he gulped the glass immediately when the man handed it to him. It burned his throat for a second but soon eased like nothing happened.
"I don't think you should but you can go if you want, sometimes it's better to let things go" he took a sip looking around, while Clement was wondering why he would say a thing like that.
"I do, his my mate" he answered angrily, getting up to follow his scent. His brother put his drink up, giving him a strange look before drinking all of it.
Clement followed his nose that led him to the small office that was hidden far away from the crowd, and he inhaled knowing he was in the room, and had nowhere to run to.
"Come in, Alex" he heard and he grinned, actually grinned. It had been so long since he heard that name from his lips. No one ever called him by his middle name but Levi, his Levi.
"Hey" he smiled, but Levi's face was serious and he could easily see from his expression that the man was not happy to see Clement at all.
"I'm not going to waste your time. You want answers and I will give you an answer." Said Levi not even waiting for Clement to sit down.
"Then, tell me why you are doing all of this?"
"I'm not gay anymore, Beta Clement. Sorry if I wasted your time!" As Clement was about to ask him what the hell does he mean when he said his not gay anymore the door opened and a boy around six years old, with Jett, black hair, and green eyes came rushing in from the bathroom, making his heart stop. He was a replica of Levi.
"Daddy, who is this?"
