Alexis
I am punching and kicking the punching bag in the basement gym in our pack house when Damian enters. The urge to kick his ass is still very strong.
'Hey Alexis, I'm sorry for my behavior from earlier.' Damian apologizes to me right after he approaches me.
'Just leave me be, Damian. I've had enough for today.' I tell him. He sounds remorseful, but I'm not in the mood to talk to him. I'm still not in the right state of mind and I don't want to argue with him again.
'I don't want you to be angry with me. I'm sorry, okay?' Damian is trying to get my attention since I haven't looked at him. I stop punching the bag and wipe the sweat from my forehead. I turn and look Damian in the eyes. He doesn't look like he wants to fight, too.
'Sometimes I have this strong urge to kill you.' I confess.
'Yeah, I can totally see why.' Damian scratches his neck and chuckles.
'I wasn't flirting with them.' I state.
'I know you were not. I was just being an ass.' Damian says and runs his hand down his face. He really looks remorseful.
'We are not mates.' I say it as a statement, not a question.
'No, we aren't.' He says with a sour look.
'Then why did you keep telling me we were?' I ask. I want to understand his motives. It doesn't make any sense to me.
'I don't know. It started as a joke and then... You know... And maybe I was thinking you would choose me and become my Luna since I haven't found my mate yet?' He chuckles nervously. What in the hell...? How in the hell...? Is he miserable because he hasn't found his mate yet?
'Damian, I love you, but you are like another brother to me. We are best friends. I don't think you love me romantically either. Plus, you have a perfect mate for you somewhere. You just need to wait a little longer.' I say, trying to understand him.
'Yeah. Look, I know I'm being ridiculous, but I'm scared you'll find your mate soon, leave us behind, and never turn back. That's why I was telling you that sh*t.' Damian confesses. Okay, that still doesn't make much sense. But it's Damian what we are talking about, so maybe it makes sense after all. He doesn't think like other people do.
'Are you crazy? Why would I turn my back on you guys? No matter where I am or with whom I am, the four of you will always be very important to me. And who says I'll find my mate soon? Look at Finn or Axel. They are 21 and haven't found their mates. It could be ages before I find him. We don't know when we will meet our other halves. Not everybody is as lucky as my or your parents were. I just hope you'll like him and give him a chance.' I tell him with hope.
'Oh no, I won't like any f*cker being with you, even if it'll be your mate. Nobody is good enough for you!' Damian's jaw clenches and he balls his fists. Overly-protective like-a-brother.
'Come on, Dame. He will be the best match for me. Maybe, one day, he could join our group alongside your mate. I bet she'll be something else. The Moon Goddess wouldn't pair you with anybody ordinary.' I really mean what I've just said. Damian is the best friend I can have. Okay, he's a pain in my ass most of the time, but he's also caring and protective and always makes sure you stay in a good mood. It's unlike him to be insecure about something. I hug him, I can feel he needs it.
'You know you are covered in sweat. Disgusting.' Damian says but does nothing to pull away from me.
'Don't pretend you don't like to be hugged right now. Let me take a shower, and then we can play Dare or Dare.' I let go of him and make my way to the showers near the locker rooms. 'And Damian, I'm still pissed about my bracelet.' I inform him just to make sure he doesn't think he's forgiven.
'I'm well aware of it.' He says with a small smile.

'Time to feed the beast before it bites my head off. Alexis, I put away some leftovers for you. Your tolerance for bulls*t is higher when you aren't hungry.' Damian says when we enter the living room. My friends are leisurely sitting on the floor near the coffee table and the Alphas are drinking Dad’s old whiskey. Damian hands me a plate full of different kinds of meals. I'm doing my best to ignore his snarky comment. He is right, though, I'm starving.
'Thanks Dame.' I smile at him. He blows me a kiss and I giggle like a teenage girl.
'We are playing Dare or Dare, f*ckers. Not you Bri, you are not a f*cker. You are my sweet little flower.' Damian kisses her cheek and smacks Axel's and Finn's.
'Language!' Alpha Darius gives him a stern look and rolls his eyes when Damian blows him a kiss.
'Did you hit him on his head or what?' Bri asks and studies Damian.
'Nah, we just talked. And hugged, and… Nothing!' Damian adds quickly before my brother can punch him. He saw Axel shooting daggers at him.
'We need a sixth player since you don't have a partner, Alexis. Wanna ask Nathan?' Damian looks at me and winks.
'Shut your mouth, Damian! Don't start with her!' Axel comes to my rescue. I shot Damian an angry look. I thought we weren't going to fight anymore. Today, that is.
'Hey, why is it me who doesn't have a partner? Bri is my partner!' Now I'm feeling irritated again, even the food is not helping.
'No, she is not. She is my partner and Axel is playing with Finn. Go and ask Nathan or some other jack*ss out there!' Damian looks at me with a tired expression.
'Before you start another fight, I have a suggestion. Sebastian, you can play with them. You are not that old. It'll be good for you to spend some time with people closer to your age.' My Dad is trying to break the tension that is slowly building again. Sebastian doesn't look like he wants to play with us, but I assume he wants to please my Dad, so he reluctantly joins our group.
'How old is 'not that old'?' Bri asks curiously.
'I'm 23.' Sebastian replies with a small smile. I knew that. He's five years older than me. I did the math the first time we met.
'That could work, you are with Alexis. Prepare to lose.' Damian smirks at him.
'Excuse you, I've never lost. Remind me, who was the one advertising condoms in the previous issue of the packs' newspaper? The one with the title 'Always use one if you don't want to end up with STIs.' above your head.' I say while laughing at the memory. Damian and his Beta, Gavin, posed for an advertisement in the newspaper that is distributed to every pack in our alliance.
'Yeah, that was a good one.' Finn states while Axel is laughing, too.
'Better than 'Size doesn't matter!' across his chest.' Damian deadpans. Yeah, that one with Axel and Finn was also good. Alpha's are more gifted in this department, but let's not talk about my brother and his... you know.
'I'm not following. What do these advertisements have to do with the game?' Sebastian asks, clearly not understanding the connection between our small game and these advertisements.
'Oh, you don't know the rules yet!' Bri squeals with a huge grin.
