Chapter Four: Meeting The Elder’s

2100 Words
***Lisa's POV*** I was deep in a dream alone, which was odd considering how many people are usually in my head when I dream. I was standing at a broken log fence overlooking tall, rich green grass that led to a beautiful body of water. Not a cloud in the sky, when out of nowhere, a crack of thunder rolled through the sky, followed by thick grey clouds that swallowed the beautiful, peaceful sky. Everything got dark and gloomy. The waters below turned brown, waves building up and tossing in every direction. The dark grey clouds started to lower over the water before the water started to swirl into a large whirlpool. I walked closer to the broken fence, squinting my eyes to get a better look. The smell of musty, dusty rain was thick in the air, but no rain came down. I looked back at the sky and saw a huge light ring spinning above the whirlpool. The hole was getting wider and wider, whereas the ring of light spun faster. I couldn't make any sense of this, but that's when I heard it. The sounds of voices crying out. I could feel my heart beating so hard I thought it would explode from my chest. It sounded like the voices of a hundred if not more children were crying out. As quickly as it started, I jumped in my sleep, causing me to wake up. I woke up gripping the bed sheets and sweating. "You OK?" asked Raven. "Yeah, just a really strange dream. You weren't there, which was weird because you are always with me", I replied to her, rubbing my face to wake up. "Where ever you went, I couldn't reach you, so I have just been here observing," Raven said with a small chuckle. How strange?! "Yes, you are a very handsome Alpha. This will be your suit for today!!" I heard Mariposa flirting with Noah. "Yes, it is a great suit, but don't you think it would look better on me?" asked Noah. I sat up to see Mariposa gushing over Noah, who was standing in nothing but a towel that he was holding on to for dear life. "I'll help you get dressed?" asked Mariposa, backing Noah up to the wall. "I can do it myself, but thanks for the offer," Noah replied nervously. His eyes suddenly caught mine as I bit my lip, holding back a smile. He looked desperately at me for help. "I can't even sleep without you getting into trouble?" I said, playfully teasing Noah. Mariposa turned around, smiling at me. "Good morning Luna Lisa!! Your Alpha is so handsome. He knows how to make an old lady feel youthful again" Mariposa giggled as she clapped her hands to her blushing cheeks. "Yes, he has that effect," I said, sliding out of bed with the bedsheet wrapped around me. "Your suits are here for you. I am here to help assist you with getting ready!!" Mariposa explained as she walked to the back of the room where two magnificent suits were situated. They were white and gold. The theme seemed to be Hotep. Noah's suit was a white dress suit with gold and white armor fashioned with a long white cloak with a golden shimmer. The armor had dark golden vines entwined onto it into a beautiful pattern leading to the white centerpiece, which was a moon. I'm pretty sure elves had hand-crafted these suits. My dress is white and gold layers of sheer fabric with a solid form-fitting gold dress under the sheer layers. My dress was adorned with similar armor to Noah's. It had shoulder armor, golden bracers that looked like twisted vines, and a matching chest plate with beautiful golden vines entwined, leading to the moon in the center. A shimmering gold white cape of sorts hung low on the back of the shoulder armor. The sunlight hitting our clothes made them look like they were glowing between white and gold. "Wow, this is beautiful!!" I gasped in awe as I walked toward the clothes. I touched the fabric, which was as soft as silk. The attention to detail was remarkable. "They were made just for you two!! I will do your hair for you!!" Mariposa said, gently stroking my hair. "Oh, thank you!" I managed to respond, still in shock over the clothes we had to wear. "I'm gonna go get dressed behind the bathroom curtain," announced Noah as he quickly grabbed the suit he was to wear, disappearing behind the curtain. "You sure you don't need help?!" I giggled. "Nope!! I'm good, thank you!!" Noah replied quickly. Mariposa and I quietly laughed. Mariposa led me to the dining chair in front of the large open windows so she could get started on my hair. "I'm just teasing him. He is very beautiful, though," Mariposa whispered as she started to brush my hair. "That he is!!" I whispered back, looking out towards the beach, my dream weighing heavy on my mind. Another beautiful day in Hotep, not much longer, and I will be standing in front of some of the most powerful people in our community. ********************************************** ***Lisa' POV Continued*** The kids and my inlaws had already made their way to the Elder's Chambers. I stood in front of the mirror in our room, taking in the beauty of my dress. The slightest movement gives the fabric a touch of shimmer. Mariposa styled my hair into a French braid, tucking the tail of the braid up out of view. Next, she added small white flowers to my hair and two gold hair clips on each side of my head. To finish my appearance, she did my make-up: gold and white in light neutral tones with a touch of shimmer. I almost didn't recognize myself. Noah walked up to me, the sound of his boots hitting the stone floor, the sound of armor gently rattling as he walked. Talk about my very own Prince Charming!! His pale skin, jet black hair, and steel blue eyes dressed in Elven armor were perfection!! "Your jaw is on the floor, my sweet," Noah teased, slipping his finger under my chin to gently close my mouth. "She's speechless," giggled Raven. "You look... you look... there's no word for the way you look is what I'm trying to say," I said, stumbling over my words. Noah gave me a beautiful smile before leaning in to kiss me. Warm sparks erupted across my lips, making me weak in the knees. "You are breathtaking," Noah whispered, up against my lips as he pulled away. If anyone was breathless right now, it was me!! Mariposa came bustling back into the room, smiling. "They are ready for you now!! You both look spectacular!! Let me use your phone to take a photo!!" Mariposa said, holding out her small hand. Noah quickly grabbed his phone, handing it to Mariposa before pulling me into his arms. I looked up at him with a dazed expression, I'm sure. His strong arms wrapped around me as my hands rested on the cool chest plate. Noah was looking at Mariposa with a beautiful broad smile. His eyes were sparkling like precious blue gems. "That's so sweet how she looks at you!! OK, I am done! You will love this photo", Mariposa said, handing Noah his phone back. She was right. It was a beautiful photo. It reminded me of lovers you would see on a romance novel's cover. "OK, please follow me," Mariposa instructed as she made her way out of our room. We followed closely behind her, the sound of my dress sweeping across the floor and the armor clinking. Mariposa led us outside on a short trail that led to a large arch with white wooden doors. It was all attached to a stone wall covered in thick vines and moss. The paint on the doors was peeling and chipped. Anyone walking by wouldn't think anything of it. Mariposa stood in front of the doors before they opened themselves. I could feel my heart quicken with anticipation. Sensing my racked nerves, Noah took my hand into his, giving it a gentle squeeze. I looked at him for comfort, his handsome face giving me a heartwarming smile. " OK, follow me," Mariposa instructed, walking into the darkness. We followed her into the dark before little white flames appeared on the stone flooring. We quietly walked along before descending the stone stairs into a large mesmerizing cave. There was a narrow glass bridge that led to another room that was dimly lit. Below the narrow glass bridge was crystal clear water with white and gold koi fish swimming along happily. Above us were white and clear giant crystals that hung from the cave’s ceiling. The light hit them and made the whole room sparkle like a diamond!! “This is incredible!!” I whispered as we quietly made our way across the glass bridge. Noah nodded in agreement as we both looked down at the koi fish that stopped to look up at us curiously before swimming off. “Sushi, anyone?” Raven said jokingly. Noah and I held back our laughs as we crossed the bridge as Mariposa waited for us. “This is as far as I go. Congratulations, my friends! I will see you after the celebration!” Mariposa said with a warm, gentle smile I’ve come to appreciate. Before walking away, she gave Noah a flirty little wink as he nervously laughed, giving her a goodbye wave. We stood before the open doorway that had dim blue light coming from it. “Please come in, Luna, Alpha,” a dominant female voice said. It was now or never!! I took a deep breath before stepping into the dimly blue-lit room. Before Noah and I sat an older woman with long white wavy hair, pale blue eyes with sharp facial features, she sat upon a large hand-crafted stone seat. She wore a dress similar to mine. However, she did not have armor. Instead, she wore thick heavy robes of gold and white. The room was large and circular. The walls reminded me of a geode rock, gently shimmering from the thin layer of water that lay before us. Elders of all races and colors sat around the room wearing white and golden ropes. I saw Rosemary, Alexander, Barbra, and John sitting at the end of the circle of seats giving us a quick wave and smile. The atmosphere was peaceful but powerful. “Welcome, Luna Lisa, Alpha Noah. I am Moraine Clearwater. It is a pleasure to meet you face to face”, Moraine said with a smile. Voices around the room agreed and welcomed us with friendly hellos. “Please step into the moon water so we can get started, please,” Moraine said, waving her hand to the water on the floor before us. Noah led me to the moon water. As I stepped into the moonwater, a sense of comfort and warmth washed over me. “Now that we are all here, we can get started. Welcome, you two. So glad you could join us”, Moraine said, nodding her head towards us. I was confused because Noah and I were already there. Who could she be talking to? A small warm hand slipped into my left hand. Confused, I looked down, seeing a semi-transparent elegant hand in mine. I looked up to see who owned the hand. A stunning woman slightly taller than myself stood next to me with her long dark rich purple hair with pinkish ends. She wore a Grecian-style light purple dress on her small figure. Her pink eyes looked back at me with love and affection. On top of her long hair were adorable furry purple ears and a silver gypsy-like crown adorned her head. It didn’t take me more than a second to realize that it was Raven!!? Her transparent form shimmered next to me. If Raven was there, did that mean Jared was as well? I looked at Noah and next to him, with his hand placed on Noah’s shoulder, stood a tall, beautiful Japanese man dressed in a black ceremonial kimono. He had long thick jet black hair that hung down past his waist with his own set of furry black ears. His steel-blue eyes stood out against his ivory skin. His features were sharp and beautiful. Noah looked back and forth at our wolves, standing next to us in transparent human form. “Hello,” Raven and Jared said, matching radiant smiles.
