Chapter Twenty One- Lucifer's POV

1426 Words
"Ariel?" I asked hesitantly. No answer. I could hear Amara calling her frantically.  "Lucifer, what have you done?" Amara came back onto the line. Pure fear laced her tone.  "What's happened?" I demanded standing up from my chair.  "Her anger overwhelmed her. She was here just a few seconds after you told her and her anger destroyed half my pack's homes. Her anger caused a massive storm, her eyes turned black. She is heading your way, the storm is following her. I hope you can handle what comes your way Lucifer. She is more powerful than we ever knew." The line went dead.  What have I done? I should not have told her. I walked into the room where Gabriel was laying still. He was hooked up to all kinds of machines and monitors. I left him like this instead of healing him because I wanted him to suffer, I wanted to hurt him, to torture him. Now though? Well now I needed him to help calm Ariel, if he could. "What's going on?" Asmodeus asked behind me.  "Ariel knows what I've done. She is blacked out with rage and heading this way. If you see any signs of a storm, it's her." I stated before moving to Gabriel's side. I put my hands on him and light seeped from me to him, returning him to himself. He shot out of bed, choking on the tube in his throat. He pulled it out roughly, coughing severely as he did.  "What the hell Lucifer?"  I stood and stared down at the wolf. "You're lucky I didn't kill you wolf. Now get up. Ariel knew what I did and flew into a rage. She is on her way here now. Go outside, keep an eye on the sky. She is bringing a massive storm with her." I stated.  Gabriel leapt out of bed and was out the door in seconds. I sat back down, holding my head in my hands. How could I have done this to her? I know he hurt her, and yes it pissed me off. But what caused me to do it was the fact it made Ariel run. Not just from him, from all of us. And she cloaked herself so no one could find her. I flew back after that and attacked him, beating him without mercy. I would have killed him if Michael hadn't pulled me off him.  "I heard what happened. I'm going outside with the others. She has been gone two days. If she sees the three of us as a united front, willing to get along. Maybe she'll stop." Michael said. I just nodded, not willing to say anything. But I was worried. Would they be willing to put all their differences aside? Would Ariel even acknowledge them or would she plow through them to get to me?  I felt as the storm approached. Thunder rattled the windows, lightning flashed, lighting up the house like a thousand torches. I stood abruptly, making my way to the back door. Michael, Gabriel and Asmodeus were all lined up in the backyard. Each looking up, waiting for Ariel.  She landed in front of the men, cracking the earth with her impact sending dirt and dust flying around them. Her eyes were black and shadows oozed off every inch of her body and wings. She lifted her hand and flicked her finger sending Gabriel flying across the yard. "You have no right to be here." she fumed. She turned to Michael and Gabriel "Where is he?" She demanded.  Michael approached her slowly, his hands were raised in front of him. Showing her he meant her no harm. "Ariel, listen to me. Gabriel is fine. Lucifer healed him." Her head snapped to Michael. "What he did was unforgivable. He deserves to be punished." She started towards the Archangel, pure vengeance in her eyes. That's when I stepped out "ARIEL,STOP!" I yelled.  Her head turned to me, her eyes blazing black with a red hue. "Ariel, I'm sorry. I wanted to protect you. Defend you. What he did hurt you immensely, he deserved to hurt too." I tried reasoning with her. She stopped and looked at me. I could tell she was struggling, she didn't want to hurt me. "Ariel, listen to me. You are my daughter, and I love you. I couldn't stand seeing you hurt like that." I said softly. Tears fell from her eyes as the black slowly receded. The storm died down and the shadows returned to her. She fell to her knees, holding her face in her hands. I flew to her and engulfed her in my arms. She buried her face in my shirt and clutched tightly to me as she sobbed. I just held her. Neither one of use spoke.  I kissed the top of her head and pulled her back to face me. I moved the hair out of her face and cupped her face in my hands. "I will never hurt you Ariel. I will always protect and defend you."  She wiped her eyes and gave me a small smile. "I know dad. I am so sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. I was fighting so hard to get control back. My angel side has never surged forward the way she did. She wanted to protect Gabriel, defend him. I don't know why. He rejected us." She said in a broken whisper.  "Ariel?" I looked up to see Gabriel approach slowly. Michael and Asmodeus blocked him from reaching us completely. He looked at her with a broken look. "I am so, so sorry. I never imagined what I said, what happened would hurt you so completely." Ariel's eyes flashed red as she stood and faced him.  "What did you think would happen? Huh? You think I would smile and say thank you for rejecting me? You think I would feel all giddy and excited to lose one of the men I love?" She roared.  Gabriel's head fell. "I'm sorry." He whispered "I don't want to reject you Ariel. I was unprepared and in shock. I didn't know what I was saying. When you opened the mate bond, your emotions woke me up. It knocked me out of my shock." Gabriel dropped to his knees "Please, Ariel I love you so damn much. Please, give me one more chance. I can't promise I won't make you mad or that we won't have arguments, but I can promise I will never hurt you again." He begged.  Ariel looked at him brokenly. Her eyes filled with tears again. "How could you do that to me?" She whispered. "What did I do to deserve that?" Gabriel leapt to his feet and barreled through the two men to get to Ariel. He enveloped her in his arms as they both dropped to their knees. He peppered her with kisses repeatedly apologizing to her. Ariel finally caved, embracing him in return and nuzzling into his neck. He just held her, kissing the top and sides of her head. "I love you so much." He whispered to her.  "I know you do. And I love you." Her voice was stronger but thick with tears. "I forgive you Gabriel." She whispered to him.  Gabriel's face lit up as a broad smile spread across his face. "Thank you Angel. I'll never leave you or hurt you again." He said with enthusiasm. Ariel smiled and looked over to the rest of us and opened her arms. We all laughed but went to her, each of us wrapping our arms around her. I felt her body relax as she let out a sigh of relief.  She was better now, not happy yet but content and relaxed. When I looked at her, I saw she had fallen asleep in Asmodeus's arms. He looked down on her playing with her hair. He had so much love in his eyes as he watched her sleep. "Asmodeus." He looked up at me, giving me a curious look. "Take her to bed please. Watch over her." I told him. He smiled and nodded. Picking her up bridal style he carried her in the house and up to her room.  "We have some planning to do." I told Michael and Gabriel. They looked at me confused. "Ariel never got to celebrate her 19th birthday. We will throw her a party. Invite the pack and I'll invite her mother and her pack." The guys smiled and nodded. Together we went to my office to plan the best birthday Ariel could ever have.
